Story
Meet Redd, a spirited little guy who’s ready to find his forever home! At 14 years young, Redd was surrendered by his former family but was fortunate enough to be welcomed into a loving foster home with COALDR just an hour later. This delightful pup has more spunk and energy than many dogs half his age! Each morning, he bounds outside with enthusiasm, eager to explore his yard and greet his doggy friends. Weighing in at just 11 pounds, Redd is a charming Poodle/Maltese mix and is currently fostered in Smithfield, VA. Redd has a cataract in one eye and is likely blind in that eye. His other eye has age-related vision loss, but he can see shadows and navigates his environment quite well. Redd is house-trained but prefers to use pads overnight. He’s had a thorough medical check-up and is in excellent health. This lovable boy gets along great with everyone, so a home with older, respectful children would be ideal. Because of his limited sight, he may not be comfortable around very young kids. Redd loves mealtime and isn’t shy about expressing his impatience if he has to wait. Aside from that, he’s quite a calm pup who would do well in an apartment setting. Redd enjoys leisurely walks and loves spending time outside, exploring his yard. He’s great with other dogs and adores every person he meets. If you’re ready to give this fun-loving little fellow a cozy retirement home, please complete an application to adopt him!

Story
Rocky is an adorable, silly and sweet adult pup. We are unsure of his exact age, but the vet seems to believe he is about 9 years old and weighs about 12 pounds. Rocky would do best with a dog savvy, active family with no young children. He's 100% potty trained, loves to take walks in the neighborhood and going for rides in the car. He gets along great with other small dogs but is indifferent to playing with them. We are unsure about his compatibility with larger dogs or cats. Toys and balls are Rocky's favorite and he keeps himself well occupied with them. However, he can get a little possessive and will guard objects if you try to take them from him. Caution needs to be taken with Rocky when needing to remove a particular possession from him, but he will gladly be distracted by a replacement item. Rocky loves to sleep in bed with his people and gets so excited at bedtime and in the morning that he rolls around kicking wildly. He just loves life and is one happy little boy! Rocky would do best in a home with a fenced in yard and where his family is home more often than not, but if his family are active and committed to taking him on regular leashed walks, a fenced yard is negotiable. Rocky will also require regular visits to the groomer and it is recommended he is muzzled when strangers are handling him. However, he absolutely loves being brushed at home and spins in circles when he sees the brush come out. Rocky is neutered, up to date on vaccines, microchipped & on preventative. He is located in Greenville, South Carolina. If Rocky sounds like a good match for you, please complete an adoption application today at www.coaldr.org

Story
Adoption Donation   $ 599 Located: RI (Transportation costs included to the Northeast , plz ask for more details) Age: approx. 1  years old Weight: 7.8 lbs.   Meet Silver. This sweet, shy girl came to us after being observed by a neighborhood Ring camera being tossed from a car with another dog and a cat in Mississippi. She ran like crazy and disappeared, and thank goodness was trapped by one of our awesome southern rescuers on New Year's Day. She's already been to the vet, had her spay surgery on 1/2/25, has been brought up-to-date on her shots and is settling into foster care. Silver is understandably very timid! She's great with other dogs, and a gentle, shy girl who's looking for reassurance that she's going to be treated well. We're going to give her a little time to decompress and suspect that once she relaxes, she's going to love living the rescued life!   If you are interested in adopting me, please fill out an application on our website  www.fohari.org  and email my foster parent for more information: marylovesdogs222@gmail.com .   marylovesdogs222@gmail.com Our adoption application can be found here: https://fohari.org/application/  Our Adoption Process:   Go to our website and select the animal you are interested in. ALL animals are in foster homes as we do NOT have a  shelter where you can visit. Some animals are in foster care in New England, and some are located in other states. If the initials following the animals name are a state, then that is the state where the animal is located. If initials are not a state, then those are the initials of the foster home outside of New England and you will not be able to meet the animal ahead of time. Complete our online application You will be contacted by phone or email by the foster parent  or a member of our adoption team and will have the opportunity to find out more about the animal, and ask any questions that you have to ensure the animal is a good fit for your household. If the animal is local, you can meet the animal, but you would not be able to take the dog home until you are approved to adopt.  From our end, we will check references and schedule a home visit.  If you live in an apartment, or a condo, we will need to verify permission to own the animal from your landlord or condo board. Please let your vet’s office and references know we will be contacting them. If your  references are positive, we will schedule a home visit by a volunteer. Please try to accommodate the home visit volunteer as most  have busy schedules. Delays in the visit will result in a delay in the adoption. Once you are approved, you will receive an e-mail with your  adoption contract attached. This e-mail will have details about pick up, the balance of the adoption fee that is owed, etc. Please email your signed & witnessed contract and pay your adoption fee in full, and for any animals located out of state, you will be contacted for details about transport to New England. Once you have paid your adoption fee in full and sent back your contract, you can make arrangement to pick up your animal from the foster home or from transport depending on where the animal is located. Please bring a harness, collar, ID tag and leash when you are picking up the dog unless otherwise instructed by the foster parent. Our extensive approval process is intended to ensure the best fit between our animals and adopters. Friends of Homeless Animals (FOHA) reserves the right to deny any adoption application with or without disclosure of cause. Your adoption fee helps to cover the cost of all age appropriate vetting and transportation. FOHARI.ORG makes no explicit or implicit guarantees in reference to the health, temperament and/or the breed of the animal. The animal is adopted ‘as is’, and the adopter assumes all responsibility for treatment of any and all existing conditions or any other conditions of physical or temperament changes that may occur. FOHARI.ORG will provide the animal with the basic vaccines, heart worm test and sterilization of dogs and cats before adoption if the age and current health of the animal permits. While FOHARI.ORG makes every effort to place only healthy animals, FOHARI.ORG cannot guarantee the health of any animal, and shall not be held responsible for any medical expenses that may be incurred. Rescuer will provide information received from the veterinarian exam, observations on the temperament of the animal and a best guess of the breed. Friends of Homeless Animals Inc.
