Charlotte is an adorable Maltese/Bichon puppy with a big personality and a love for the sound of her own voice. She might not be the best fit for apartment living, but she’ll bring joy and energy to any home. Charlotte currently lives with three doggy siblings—Titan the Chihuahua, Flipp the Maltese mix, and Angel the Westie—and is by far the fastest of the bunch! She loves to show off her "superspeed" when it’s time to go inside, teasing her humans by darting away just as they reach for her leash. As a young pup, Charlotte is still in her chewing phase, so make sure to have plenty of acceptable chew toys on hand! She’s a big fan of squishy and squeaky toys and has even been known to chew on the plastic tubs they’re stored in. Her vocal talents include two distinct barks: a squeaky one to let her humans know it’s potty time and a deeper, more serious bark when she’s on guard duty. Charlotte takes protecting her pack seriously, alerting her humans to "dangers" like squirrels, bunnies, ducks, neighbor dogs, blowing bags, and even kids. Her humans reward her dedication with plenty of cuddles, smooches, and cozy lap naps. Despite my luxating knees, I don't let it slow me down. With a little extra care and some glucosamine, I'm ready to tackle life head-on. I'm a social butterfly who loves making new friends, whether they're furry or not. Playing with other dogs and even cats? Count me in! Squeaky toys are my jam, and I'll happily gather them in my favorite bed for a play session. Plus, I'm a foodie at heart—I'll devour treats, fruits, and peanut butter like there's no tomorrow. While I may not be a fan of the kiddos under 12, I'm still working on mastering the art of potty training. I'm a quick learner, though, and with a little patience and consistency, I'll get there in no time. At night, I sleep quietly in my kennel, but I might get a bit chatty when I hear someone stirring in the morning. Now, about those stairs—I'm still getting the hang of them. I prefer homes with minimal stairs to spare my precious knees, but don't worry, I don't mind being carried. I’ve had a bit of a rough start and can be very scared of people and very skittish, but with patience, kindness, and time, I know I can learn to trust and blossom in the right home. Here’s what you should know about me: I’m happiest when I’m with other dogs, especially my confident furry friends who help me feel safe and teach me the ropes. I love wrestling with them, basking in the sun, and playing with my soft, stuffed toys. While I’m not big on most treats, I do have a weakness for homemade dehydrated beef liver—yum! I’m working really hard on trusting humans, but don’t really like to be touched right now. My foster parent has been helping me learn with gentle cuddle sessions, and I’m slowly making progress. I’m even starting to approach for play and hold their fingers in my mouth—though I still get scared if things move too fast. I do enjoy quiet, early morning tummy rubs, so there’s hope for more snuggles in the future! Potty training and leash training are still a work in progress for me, so I’ll need a secure, fenced yard in my forever home. I’m also a bit of an escape artist, so doors and gates will need to stay closed tight! At night, I’ve figured out my routine—I sleep best in a crate on the bed with the door open, where I can snuggle up near my favorite doggy friend. It makes me feel safe and calm.
