Story
https://foha.org/pet/queen2023/ All hail me, Queen! My name is Queen, and I am a beautiful, super-sized pup with something of a regal flair. Being outdoors is where I truly come alive, and I absolutely adore going for walks. In fact, I can never get enough of them! Walking on a leash is second nature to me, and I'm always up for an adventure. Hiking is one of my absolute favorite activities, and I make a fantastic companion on those long, winding trails. There's something about the woods and parks that captivates me, and I relish the opportunity to explore nature's wonders. Splashing my paws in the streams and taking in all the different scents is pure bliss. Oh, and let's not forget my special talent for rolling in the grass-I just can't resist! Traveling in the car is a breeze for me, and I'm always on my best behavior. During the ride, you might find me gazing out the window, observing the world passing by, or chewing on a delicious treat to otherwise occupy my time. Even after a lengthy walk, I still have energy to spare. Spending time in the play yard, chasing balls, and simply hanging out with my favorite people is my idea of a good time. Now, when it comes to training, I'm highly motivated by treats. However, I could use some patient and consistent guidance from an owner who is experienced and familiar with my breed. I'm incredibly smart and eager to learn, although I must admit, sometimes I like to believe I'm the one in charge. With the right approach, I know I can become an obedient and well-trained companion. Given my size and enthusiastic approach to life, I'd be more successful with a dog closer to my size. And I would need proper introductions to make sure we're a good match! Additionally, a household without children would be most suitable for me. I thrive in an environment where I can be the center of attention and receive the love and care I deserve. If you're looking for a majestic and spirited canine companion who will make your outdoor adventures even more memorable, then I'm your girl. Together, we can conquer the world, one walk at a time. To make an appointment to meet me, please fill out an application (no obligation). Thanks for looking and hope to see you soon!

Story
Name: Shaq Sex: Male Estimated Age: About a year old Best Guess for Breed: Mixed Breed Mastiff Dog Weight: About 60 lbs Lives With: Dogs and adults (including kids). Housebroken? Shaq is housebroken. He is currently working on crate training (making great progress!) and learning his basic commands. Story: Shaq was rescued from a shelter locally in Washington, DC. Shaq is a happy sweetie who loves people and gets along great with other dogs and puppies. He knows just how to get comfortable up on the couch with his humans, and will love to join you on walks and trots around the neighborhood. Shaq is just looking for someone to be his new best furend and we know that he will repay them with endless amounts of love and tail wags. As a puppy, Shaq will need an adopter who is committed to setting him up for success by enrolling in obedience training and exercising him both mentally and physically. He will also need love, patience, and socialization in order to thrive! What my foster says: Shaq is really just the best, and we absolutely adore him. He is 100% the most cuddly dog we have fostered and is an absolute ham. He’s great with other dogs and all humans. He’s fully potty trained and only goes to the bathroom outside. He’s good on the leash, but can be a little mouthy when he plays (like a typical puppy) - we are working with him to correct this behavior and he’s responding really well to training. He has lived with kids and other dogs and does great. He’s a great, happy boy and will make a fabulous family dog or companion! The fee to adopt Shaq is $475. That covers the cost of all his vaccines, the collar he’s wearing, his transport to DC and his care in his foster home. He’s up to date on all age appropriate vaccines and neutered. Shaq has been seen by a shelter vet and we are not aware of any health issues. If you think that Shaq might be your perfect match, apply today!February 28, 2025, 10:22 pm

To learn more about our upcoming events and to see which event she will be attending, please visit our event page at https://www.lostdogrescue.org/events/. (*Please note that the specific event pages are typically updated on Fridays with information on which dogs will be attending each event.*) Meet Cookie, who’s as sweet as her name suggests! This affectionate 10-month-old Mastiff mix is a total charmer and will steal your heart with her cute black-and-white Oreo cookie markings. Despite being an older puppy, Cookie has a relatively calm and gentle demeanor, but that’s not to say she’s not playful, because she absolutely loves her toys! She’s also very loving and always on the lookout for a lap to hop into, as she’s a total cuddle bug who loves to be close to her humans. Cookie enjoys walks and does well on a leash, with little-to-no pulling. Whenever she hears an interesting sound or spots something that catches her curiosity, her super-soft ears floppily perk up in the most adorable way that’ll just make you smile! Though she’s a little unsure about loud, unfamiliar noises, this cutie is a brave little soul who’s just looking for all the love she can get. And she’s one smart Cookie—sitting on command to happily receive a tasty treat. If you’re looking for a young, playful pup who’s sweet and loving and ready to accompany you on all of life’s exciting adventures, then Cookie might be the girl for you—come meet her and find out!

Please contact Connie Kiggins (conniek@luckydoganimalrescue.org) for more information about this pet.sweet XL girl ISO her home! OAKLEY NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!!!   Name:  Oakley          Best Guess for Breed:  Mastiff and retriever mix   Best Guess for Age:  7 months as of February 2024        SEX:    Female   Estimated Weight (puppies' weights change quickly!):    42 lbs as of 12/22/24   Gets Along With:   Oakley is good with other dogs and needs to go to a home with a welcoming resident dog. She's in her prime socialization period and this is a good time for her to meet cats, we are happy to discuss integration techniques with any potential adopters! We would be cautious placing Oakley in a home with children under 12 years old because young kids can often scare shy dogs with their level of energy or noise.  Children would need to be supervised closely to not leave doors open and should never walk the dog without an adult holding the leash.  We would be happy to discuss this more in depth with any applicant.   Currently Living at:   DC area foster home.   Special Adoption Considerations:      Right now, Oakley is pretty shy as she adjusts to life in a home. She needs to go to a home with a welcoming resident dog who will help show her the ropes! Oakley is Looking For:   Woof! My sisters Poppy, Piggy, Tubbs and my brother Cooper and I enjoyed our puppy pile but now we're eager to split up and get our own homes! I'm not complicated - I'd love to have a family to take walks with, go on hikes with, take car rides with, go to the dog park and a training class!! I would love to show my humans how much I love them. My needs are really rather basic: food, a bed (I can certainly share yours in a pinch hahaha I'm not really kidding I can), some toys (I promise not to use your shoes instead plus you're going to be smart and put them away ; ) ), some walks (and those are good for you too) and trips to the dog park or doggie day care (also I'm sure good for you!). And in exchange, I'll be the best girl for you and love you for the rest of my life!!    What do you say? Is there space for me in your home and your heart?  What My Foster Says About Me: Oakley was very scared when she arrived a week ago. When we brought her home, she immediately went into the crate and stayed there. The first evening, our teen sat outside her crate and talked to her for hours with our dog by her side. She was able to get Oakley out of the crate the following night, with Oakley taking our dog’s lead into the living room and the couch.  Oakley is  learning to trust us. She now comes off the couch to look outside the bay window where our dog loves to lounge and watch the neighborhood happenings, and she loves to sit and get pets. She goes into the crate on her own and that is her favorite spot at night. She is the sweetest pup and adores our dog. It’s so sweet to see them together in the back yard, as Oakley is her shadow. It’s so hard not to fall in love with her... Come out and meet her! Your new puppy will need to work on their house training and will also need to go to obedience school so they can grow into a well-socialized dog!  TO ADOPT:       The adoption fee for this puppy is $485, which includes the cost of routine vetting and transport from the shelter.    If you are interested in adopting, please complete the Adoption Questionnaire online bit.ly/adoptaluckydog   Lucky Dog Animal Rescue does our best to provide accurate information about the dogs we have for adoption. Story
Scooby is the most lovable 1 to 2 year old lab/black mouth cur mix. He was rescued from a rural Virginia shelter but has adapted well to being in a foster home, both house trained and crate trained. He is friendly with kids and other dogs, super playful but in need of some manners training. He wants to be with his people constantly, helping with every chore! He loves his basket of toys and redirects well when chewing on something he shouldn't. He has not tested well with cats. He loves to play in the yard and will retrieve a thrown ball all day. Although a bigger pup with giant feet, he really just wants to be a lap dog, soaking up all the love he can get. He came to us pretty thin and is food motivated, making training productive. Thank you for your interest in Scooby 2! Please visit www.hart90.org/petdetail.aspx?ID=18059 to get the most up-to-date and accurate information on this pet, to email the contact person listed for more information and how to meet Scooby 2, or to submit an online application.
