Story
Gozey is such a sweet girl! She is a little over a year old. We hate that we have to find a new home for her but my child has developed a skin allergy to her. She is house and crate trained. Gozey loves other dogs. She would really thrive in a home that has another dog or can have her around other dogs often. She is great with kids. I have 2 toddlers and she is very gentle with them. She has been to obedience training but is still young so she will need ongoing basic training at home. She does very well on a leash and recalls easily with a beep collar.

Name:  Meatball       Best Guess for Breed:  Mastiff mix  Best Guess for Age:  4 years as of July 2024     Gender:  Male Approximate Weight:  74 lbs  Gets Along With: Other dogs! We haven't seen him with kids or cats but he can be tested Currently Living At: South Carolina shelter; needs a foster or forever home in the DC area to get his freedom ride up here after completing heartworm treatment! Special Adoption Considerations: Meatball is heartworm positive, but this Lucky Dog got extra lucky! This pup is part of a groundbreaking study we are conducting at our South Carolina Rescue Campus that has the potential to change the way shelters across the United States treat heartworm positive dogs.  All dogs in the study are placed at random in either the 2 shot or 3 shot protocol with strictly monitored protocols in place. Four weeks following their final injection, the pups are eligible to transport to the DC area for placement in foster or adoptive care.  After treatment concludes, we work with adopters to arrange a free follow up heartworm test after 6 months, followed by a second test at 9 months.  We are happy to discuss this treatment and which phase of the study this Lucky Dog is in right now! Just email the adoption coordinator - the address is at lower left! Meatball is Looking For:   First, let us tell you about Meatball's previous chapter. His owner passed away. The family came into town, cleared out the house, put Meatball outside, and left. Neighbors noticed he was still there after a while, living under the porch, and called.  Meatball has firmly closed that chapter and is eager for his next one, where he is once again be in a loving home. This big sweetie is looking forward to sniffy walks and exploring the world with his new humans. And just looking at them adoringly, knowing he is safe and under his own roof, knowing where he belongs. he promises loving, loyal companionship for all his days.   Is Meatball the steady presence you can see by your side? Are you the soft landing he deserves? What My Foster Says About Me: We will update this once he has arrived in the DC area and spent some time with his foster Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken.  All of our dogs are working on their crate training.  TO ADOPT: The adoption fee for this dog is $475, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations, spay/neuter, and heartworm treatment.  If you are interested in adopting, please complete the Adoption Questionnaire online at bit.ly/adoptaluckydog Lucky Dog Animal Rescue does our best to provide accurate information about the dogs we have for adoption. Story
I adopted Hugo almost 10 years ago as a very sick 2yo pup and I nursed back to health. He's silly, sweet, and loves the outdoors. He is reactive around other animals but very good with humans of all sizes. Looking to find him a new home since our growing family has become more demanding and were not able to give him the attention he deserves. He's about 85 lbs with a big mastiff head and solid stout body. Happy to share any additional details and medical records.

She's about 4 years old and this big, beautiful Boerboel arrived in July, 2023 after having a couple of unfit homes. Spice needed some time to put all of that behind her, and she needed help in learning how to trust again. She's a resilient girl though, and she does her best not to let things get her down. Unfortunately, it does get her down, being here for so long. When Spice comes out of the kennel with friends, she's a big, bubbly goofball! She bonds intently with her friends and, as mastiffs are, she's protective of those she's bonded with. It takes her a minute or two to get to know and trust you but once she does, she just about knocks you over with leaning against you to get all of your attention. Spice is well-behaved and has learned lots! She knows sit, stay, down, paw, and so much more. She's good on a leash and loves toys too! Spice has had lousy experiences with pets in the past so it's best if she goes to a home where she can be an only pet. That just means she'll love YOU all the more though. She hopes so much that you'll just give her a chance already. She'll love you forever if you do. Call 609-693-1900 or email: office@ahsppz.org for an application. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Fill out an Adoption Application HEADLINER: Goofy Loveable Wanabe lap dog! PERSONALITY: Very goofy, Wonky, wants to be a lap dog and get lots of belly rubs. He does not beg for food, but he does beg for lots of love! He thinks he is the size of a Chihuahua so he will knock you over but is so very remorseful! He does need some confidence boosting but he is very eager to learn so much!   Duke needs time to warm up to new people.  Think of him as a baby deer...avert your eyes, don't speak to him, and just wait for him to come to you. Once your in you are in!  He loves kids and enjoys running around and cuddling with them too.  He is also not a fan of sassy dogs who try to tell him the business!  He did work with a trainer to develop some key skills of redirection while on walks and those skills should be followed in his new home.   FAVORITE ACTIVITIES: Running around outback playing with his foster brothers, receiving his BarkBox every month and having a new chew toy to demolish! MEDICAL ISSUES: None!   WHAT WOULD BE THE BEST KIND OF HOME: With another dog companion that does NOT bark at him when meeting. Younger couple that can handle his weight when he pulls on the leash when he gets excited. Someone that is home often because he is bigger being in a crate for longer than 6 hours is hard on his bones! Application Fees, Adoption Donations and Rescue Policy: Please know that 100% of our fees and donations pay for the costs of rescuing dogs. These include but are not limited to pull fees from shelters, veterinary examinations, vaccinations, medications and care, microchips, neuter/spay surgeries, heartworm treatments, behavior evaluations, and foster care, as needed. **Puppy Adoption Policy: To ensure proper house training and socialization, puppies will only be adopted to homes where an adult will not be away more than an hour per day, per month of age of the puppy, up to 6 months. Certain large-breed dogs should not be sterilized prior to 12 - 18 months of age. If you adopt an intact puppy, you will sign an adoption contract agreeing to have the dog sterilized at your expense at the time your veterinarian recommends. Proof of sterilization must be provided to Mastiffs To Mutts Rescue as soon as the procedure is completed. If the puppy is not sterilized as required, Mastiffs To Mutts Rescue reserves the right to claim legal ownership of the dog.  Important notes before applying. Adopters must have their primary residence in one of the following states: Pennsylvania, Ohio, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, West Virginia, Virginia, and parts of North Carolina. We will not adopt giant breed dogs to renters. Homes with children under 6 years of age will not be approved for adoption. Homes with children should have a fenced yard. Pets currently in the applicant's home must have a history of appropriate veterinary care. Homes with intact dogs will not be approved for adoption.  Proof of any of the following exceptions is required: The intact dog is a working member of a law enforcement, or search and rescue/recovery team. The intact dog is registered under the auspices of the American Kennel Club and is actively being shown. A veterinarian has determined the sterilization procedure would harm the intact dog.  We believe in Force Free Training Methods and do not approve of methods or devices using pain or force to control the dog, or to deter undesirable behavior.  Homes with highly varnished steps must have carpeting, securely fixed stair treads, or a non-skid surface. **We encourage you to remediate potential safety issues while your application is under review, prior to the home visit. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Fill out an Adoption Application HEADLINER : Daisy is a super sweet Cane Corso. She is in the process of getting up to her desired weight of 95 lbs. She has personality overload. Came to us with a docked tail that is so cute and wags constantly. A beautiful shade of fawn, and super cute wrinkles on her little nose. HISTORY: Daisy was a stray and recent puppy momma. She was in foster with her babies until they were all adopted. She is now in a new foster home in Bucks County PA. LIKES: Daisy LOVES her humans and will do best with one home most of the time. Her love language is physical touch!! She has been trained to use a doggie door, but the current foster does not have one. She is 100% house trained. Playing with her toys, tug ropes. She likes walks, to explore her yard, loves her zoomies and is food motivated. Likes other dogs and is fine with my cat. LOVES car rides!!! DISLIKES: Daisy does not like to be home without her humans for long periods of time- and she is an escape artist when gated!! Very vocal when she is not happy!! Dominant dogs scare her, and she becomes reactive. Slow, steady introductions worked with her 6 foster siblings. PERSONALITY:Super sweet, extremely intelligent, quick learner, inquisitive, eager to interact. Very playful, sassy, energetic and vocal when wants attention. Thrives on human attention. Good with other non-dominant dogs, but requires slow introduction to all dogs. She also takes a bit to warm up to new people and will be protective until comfortable. Unconditional love! TEMPERAMENT: Always happy. Good on a leash and at the vet.  Love bug- not a mean bone in her body!! ENERGY LEVEL: She has medium energy; sometimes may enjoy bursts of activity but is mostly laid-back and relaxed.  She enjoys walks or yard time to burn off her energy. FAVORITE ACTIVITIES: Most definitely is being with her humans.  She does like other dogs and will engage in play if initiated. Ear rubs and butt scratches are pretty up there on the happiness scale. Toys, tug of war and laying on the floor to trip you. And TREATS- she loves yummies! CHALLENGES: She does have some separation anxiety and will require patience with this. She also needs basic manners past “Sit." Foster mom successfully using Trazadone for her separation anxiety when she must go to the office. ANY MEDICAL ISSUES?: Daisy has a congenital eye condition in dogs that causes the eyelid to roll inward. She will have entropion surgery and recovery prior to adoption but may require daily eye lubricant drops for some time. WHAT WOULD BE THE BEST KIND OF HOME : Daisy would love a work-from-home parent.  She adores people, loves car rides, and will be a wonderful companion.  Patience will be required for slow introductions to resident pets, and outside humans. Her new humans will have to work on basic manners with her and over time she will be the bestest girl ever!! ADDITIONAL OBSERVATIONS / COMMENTS:  Does not crate, but respects a tall enough gate (we are using a 51 in gate). Would advise a proper, slow decompression and introduction to resident dog(s). If resident dog is dominant, would work slowly and do parallel walks together. She had been around a chicken coup and exposure to horses and cows at a distance…unreactive.
