I adopted Hugo almost 10 years ago as a very sick 2yo pup and I nursed back to health. He's silly, sweet, and loves the outdoors. He is reactive around other animals but very good with humans of all sizes. Gozey is such a sweet girl! She is a little over a year old. We hate that we have to find a new home for her but my child has developed a skin allergy to her. She is house and crate trained. Gozey loves other dogs. She would really thrive in a home that has another dog or can have her around other dogs often. She is great with kids. I have 2 toddlers and she is very gentle with them. She has been to obedience training but is still young so she will need ongoing basic training at home. She does very well on a leash and recalls easily with a beep collar.

Name: Meatball Best Guess for Breed: Mastiff mix Best Guess for Age: 4 years as of July 2024 Gender: Male Approximate Weight: 74 lbs Gets Along With: Other dogs! We haven't seen him with kids or cats but he can be tested Currently Living At: South Carolina shelter; needs a foster or forever home in the DC area to get his freedom ride up here after completing heartworm treatment! Special Adoption Considerations: Meatball is heartworm positive, but this Lucky Dog got extra lucky! This pup is part of a groundbreaking study we are conducting at our South Carolina Rescue Campus that has the potential to change the way shelters across the United States treat heartworm positive dogs. All dogs in the study are placed at random in either the 2 shot or 3 shot protocol with strictly monitored protocols in place. Four weeks following their final injection, the pups are eligible to transport to the DC area for placement in foster or adoptive care. After treatment concludes, we work with adopters to arrange a free follow up heartworm test after 6 months, followed by a second test at 9 months.
