Meet Babbel.. What a Great little pup... Babbel was pulled from a back yard breeder in Wisconsin. We heard the owner owns the mom which is a Shihtzu / Chihuahua and they allowed the neighbors dog which is a Rat Terrier / Chihuahua to breed with her. Once the puppies were old enough, the family thought they could sell the pups. Who knows if they did in fact sell 1 or 2. We were contacted to take the remaining pups from this litter. We did offer to spay the mom so this doesn't happen again and unfortunately they did not take us up on the offer. Babbel is a 14 week old male Shihtzu / Rat Terrier / Chihuahua. Babbel is considered low shedding due to the Shihtzu. Some people with allergies may be ok with this mix, while others are not. We estimate his full growth weight to be under 10 pounds. He is very tiny. We will not be placing him in a home with young kids or large dogs in the home. Babbel is very friendly, social and playful. He is having a blast in his foster home playing with toys and the other pups. Babbel will be very popular and adopted quickly. He is using a wee wee pad, and the outdoors for potty training. Check out the "before" photo of Pirate to see how neglected he was before coming into rescue with NorthStar! But he's had a grooming and looks like a whole new dog! He had to have surgery to remove a bulging eye, hence the name "Pirate"! His foster mom said Pirate had a good first night. So far he has not lifted his leg in the house. I keep the belly band on when in the house & he is walking around on his own & I can’t watch him. He pretty much stays by us. He will go to the door when he needs to go out. He pees on everything outside. He is obsessed with the cat. We are managing but I don’t recommend he go to a home with a cat. Pirate is not food aggressive - he could care less. I had to coax him to eat because he’s too distracted. He had no problem when Tuli came by him when he was eating. He did manage to get into the bathroom & knocked over the waste basket. He got a hold of a paper towel and growled at me when I went in to see what was happening. I told him to drop it & he did (not sure that was intentional, lol). I was able to pick it up with no issue. Once Pirate has settled in NJ, we will update his bio. Pirate has arrived in NJ to find a loving & safe retirement home.
