Story
I am at Oakland Animal Services in kennel Cat Adoption:59Brown tabby Gingerbread is an incredibly outgoing and affectionate cat. She purrs loudly immediately upon seeing people and comes right over to rub against your legs and bonk your hand for pets. She makes adorable chirping sounds and likes to watch what’s happening outside the windows (despite only having one eye!). She is social with new people and good with kids (who all LOVE her). She enjoys the wand toy, scratching post, wrestling with her sister, Eggnog, and playing with pretty much any kind of toy. She’s happy to snuggle on your lap after a good play session and is very sweet and affectionate with her sister.    Lynx Pt. Siamese Eggnog is also a pirate kitty, and a spunky and curious girl who knows how to use her voice to get what she wants—and what she wants is attention! Eggnog is slower to warm up than her sister, but once she gets to know her people, she demands snuggles and will ask to be picked up (or jump up herself). She’s very playful and enjoys spring toys, mousies, and crinkle toys, all of which she will carry around in her mouth. She loves wrestling with her sister, Gingerbread, and snuggling with her and her humans. She has a classic Siamese voice and has lots to say!     Both cats are quite confident and were curious about the resident cats in their foster home—especially Eggnog, who had no problem walking up to them, touching noses, or trying to eat the 16-pound boy's food while he growled at her. They would do fine in a house with other cats. They both love Churu treats and are good eaters (especially wet food that contains tuna or salmon; they’re less interested in chicken).    Medical disclosure for Eggnog: Eggnog has had multiple full-body seizures. Sometimes a diagnosis for seizures can be reached with testing. Unfortunately, OAS does not have the resources for this. Eggnog should have a full veterinarian exam as soon as possible after adoption. Your veterinarian can make further recommendations for testing and treatment.  January 9, 2025, 9:35 pm

Story
Acampo, CA (near Lodi): Hi, my name is Farah! I am a Siamese mix kitty with beautiful blue eyes, a dark face and creamy patches on my white coat. I’m very affectionate, love to be with my foster mom and adore petting time!  I LOVE play time! I am particularly good at sitting on my hind legs and catching the feather toy! I am also excellent at pouncing on my kitty mum Faye when she’s not expecting it. You can see us in our video together here:  https://youtu.be/3m7omlTDJ7I I was born in October 2020, am spayed, up to date on my vaccines, tested negative for FIV/FeLV, and microchipped. I’d prefer to be an “only” pet in a quiet, adults-only home. I’m living in a private foster home so please text or call Karen at 209-329-2001 for more information. You can fill out an adoption application online at https://forms.gle/obNDXM5Q4SbNNDH67 and once you are approved, we can meet via video chat!   October 26, 2024, 8:18 pm

Story
Best Match: Seeking an adopter with moderate cat experience Could join a quiet home with cat savvy teens Part of a bonded pair Needs a home without dogs Need to be indoor only Ollie takes daily medication for blood pressure Pip and Ollie are an adorable pair of bonded boys. While initially on the reserved side with new people, once you’ve befriended them, their sweet nature just shines through. As a bonded pair, Pip and Ollie share a deep connection. They sleep together other under the covers, and often groom each other. Both boys enjoy evening escapades, and Ollie even has a nightly routine where he inspects every room in the house, which is very cute. Despite being older cats, this duo can also be quite playful!  Ollie prefers playing with toy mice and balls he can chase, and is happy to entertain himself. As the more outgoing cat of this duo, he loves seeking out attention from his humans for chin scritches! He can still easily startle, so a calm home with a patient adopter will be ideal for him. Ollie also takes a heart medication pill. It’s very easy to administer — he adores munching his pill pocket treats! Pip is sweet and friendly — it just takes a little more time and patience for him to get comfortable with people. Once he feels at home, Pip will play by chasing after mice and leaping high in the air to bat at ribbon toys. He’ll keep you entertained with his acrobatics!  A great way to win this shy lad's  trust is by offering treats. Pip and Ollie  are neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and tested negative for FeLV and FIV. These distinguished gentlemen are waiting patiently for the great love of their lives. Story
Nate is a suave, easy-going guy with super soft fur who adores cheek and forehead scratches. Nate is an affectionate, curious and playful guy—showing his playful spirit and zest for life. And he loves attention! He will start out timid with new people and changes to his living space so he will do best with people that have experience and patience and the willingness to encourage and support him through his adjustment to a new home with new people. It will be worth your effort and won't take him long to show his personality. Once he knows a person and feels comfortable in his new space, Nate is a real charmer. Nate may do fine with a cat-friendly dog and/or another cat in his new home. He has done well with cats in his foster home that are confident with another cat and not reactive. We believe he would do fine in a home with children over age 6. Nate is FIV+ but is in good health and is expected to live a normal life, both in quality and duration. Estimated birth date is early 2022. Kitty Bio# 3876MB-Na. If you're interested in adopting this or another of our cats, please fill out our adoption questionnaire at http://icraeastbay.org/adopt/how-to/.October 26, 2024, 8:31 am

Story
Apple is a big sweet kitty with an even bigger personality. He is a handsome lynx point Siamese tabby mix with a short tail. He's a strong alpha male. He can’t help but be the center of attention because he is vocal, social and engaging. Apple is smart, independent, and doesn’t hesitate to add his opinion. While not a cuddler he loves being petted. He will be more your pal and companion than your fur baby. He likes to interact and play with other cats and toys. Apple must be on a prescription food diet to prevent urinary blockage. The diet has kept it well under control and will be necessary for the rest of his life. His ideal guardian or family is one with experience reading cat body language and who can be confident and firm with him as well as gentle to gain his trust. He needs an adults only home preferably with another cat and would probably be OK with a calm dog. Estimated birth date is September 2020. FOSTER OR ADOPTER NEEDED ASAP: Ben was recently rescued from living in a backyard after his owner became very ill and had to leave him behind.  Ben is very sweet and loves pets!  He may be a bit skittish at first, but he warms up quickly and is very responsive to getting attention from people.   Ben is missing one eye.  We don’t know how this happened, but it doesn’t slow him down a bit.   Ben was born in approximately November 2022.  He has been neutered, microchipped, and is up to date on his vaccinations.   For more information about fostering or adopting Ben, please contact Deborah at 510-909-4961 (text preferred) or at angusnfriends@outlook.com.    Not ready to adopt? Please consider supporting our rescue efforts with a donation. All funds go directly to our cats, no amount is too small, and we are grateful for every donation. Story
Hudson is a sweet, cuddly, energetic and playful lap cat. He's a snowshoe mix that will be your buddy no matter what. He's affectionate, so if you're looking for a cuddly cat he's the one for you. After a year of trying and learning, my current cat seems to be too aggressive towards to him despite his many efforts to be her friend. I'd say he'd thrive in a home where someone is willing to give him lots of toys and play time as well, or has another playful cat that would be his friend!
