Story
We rescued Lola as a puppy from a friend who fostered a litter from the weld county humane society. She is now 2 years old house trained, high energy loves to play and go for runs and walks. She's very smart knows the basic like sit and shake and can learn lots more. We have an older dog that she has been recently picking on. We don't have a big yard so she would love a home with a big fenced in yard to run around in freely. She loves hikes and going to the mountains and running in water. We are not asking for a rehoming fee just a good home as soon as possible as this incident scared our daughter. Would prefer some take rather than surrendering to the humane society. She is highly interested in cats, but never been around them aside from barking at the window. She has been great with our kids but is high energy which might be alot for littles.

Story
Harlow is a 2 yr old Pit bull mix. My kids (12 and 15) adopted Harlow just over a year ago. Fully house trained, knows various commands/tricks, and loves to cuddle when tired. He is a very playful and goofy dog but also does not understand his size at times. Smaller children may not be best cause of that. Not a lot of exposure to other Dogs but has done very well playing with dogs of his size. Smaller dogs are unknown. Good with our Bearded Dragon! No behavioral or food aggressions. He is still in the puppy phase at times and training is on going Crazy smart. He will need someone who understands the breed, is active enough to walk him daily (he loves hikes, too!), and if you work from home that's a bonus! If you aren't active, it may not be a good fit. Rehoming due to both a recent medical condition diagnosis that and finances that come along with that.

Story
"Ok y’all. We know the pitbull types can be harder to find adopters for due to the stereotypes. Black Dog Syndrome in the rescue world just makes that even harder for dogs like Haven, but this sweet, stunning girl deserves a forever family instead of being euthanized! Haven came into a high kill shelter in Houston after being found as a stray/dumped at a Chevron gas station. Her future was bleak. Luckily, she’s easy on the eyes and one of our pittie loving foster homes quickly stepped up for her. Haven is a healthy girl who is around 2 years old and about 55 pounds. She is adapting wonderfully to the routine of a foster home and is great with kids. She is food motivated, smart, attentive, and very eager to please. She walks well on a leash and has a mild-moderate energy level. Haven can be a bit picky/selective about her dog friends in play groups, does best with slow careful introductions, and seems to do better with male dogs. She would also be completely in love with the idea of being someone’s only dog/princess. Please give Haven a chance. She’s ready to snuggle you and be your best friend!" Haven is being fostered in Fort Collins, Colorado. *We require all adopters to come to Colorado to adopt. *We do not transport dogs. * You can view this wonderful dog at https://www.milehighcanine.org/post/dogs/haven/. Story
"Chunk is here to remind us all how important it is to not judge a book by its cover. This boy was picked up as a stray and almost euthanized for space at a high kill shelter in Houston. Luckily, a foster family was willing to look past his ‘cover’ and Black Dog Syndrome, and they noticed him in the nick of time. Chunk is a compact bully/bulldog mix at about 45 pounds and is about 3-4 years old. Chunk is missing most of his right ear and has several scars, mostly on top of his head. They do not match typical dog inflicted scars, and Chunk has been very friendly with various dogs in Texas and in foster care (especially the female variety…he’s a ladies man 😂). Sadly, though we will never know for sure, we believe his scars are the result of either human cruelty or an unusual accident. Luckily, Chunk is a healthy boy that hears well and is not in pain. He’s unaware of any differences he has on the surface, is happy to be alive, and has been friendly to every human he has come across in rescue. He is a little bit too fixated in wanting to chase kitties, and so we think a feline free home would be best. He seems crate trained and housetrained, and adjusts quickly to the routine of a family. Chunk is the life of the party, the klutz, the bull in the China shop, the clunker, and the class clown. He’s ready to make you laugh and provide endless entertainment. He’s not the brightest bulb in the box but always gets an A+ for effort. He wants to be your shadow, your ‘lap dog’, and love you unconditionally. Please give this boy a chance at his forever. He’s ready to raise awareness, bring some smiles and love to those he meets, and find his place in the world." Chunk is being fostered in Fort Collins, Colorado. *We require all adopters to come to Colorado to adopt. *We do not transport dogs. * You can view this wonderful dog at https://www.milehighcanine.org/post/dogs/chunk/. Story
Gorgeous Gordon! This speckled beauty is a 1 year old, 55 lbs, pit mix. His heart is even bigger than his giant head. Gordon is doing amazing in his foster home and boasts only a couple of accidents. He’s crate trained, loves dog friends, and extremely sweet and affectionate to people. Godon enjoys taking walks and soaking in all the sights, sounds, and smells. He’s just a young man and life outside of the shelter is new and exciting for him. Gordon is quick to learn and knows a few tricks already like sit, come, and, of course, no. Even though he’s a very playful boy, he knows how and when to settle. Gordon is looking for a home with a fenced in yard. He has not been cat or child tested. While we can’t give an opinion on feline friends, we suspect he’d be as wonderful with kiddos as he is with adults. Story
Find a penny, pick it up, all day long you’ll have good luck! Except, when you adopt a Penny, you’re guaranteed good luck for a lifetime! Our sweet Penny is a 6-7 month old, pocket pit mix. She’s compact, playful, and has an unmatched zest for life. Penny was a staff favorite in Houston, TX when she entered the shelter. The local rescue we work with there just couldn’t let her die so they pulled her and networked her to some CO rescues. That’s when we saw her beautiful, smiling face and knew she had to be ours. Penny is a pup through and through. She will thrive in an environment where her body and mind are occupied. At this juncture, she seems to be pretty toy driven and she’d absolutely love a playful canine companion, too (although not required). Penny is in foster in Windsor, Colorado. *We require all adopters to come to Colorado to adopt. *We do not transport dogs. * You can view this wonderful dog at https://www.milehighcanine.org/post/dogs/penny-2.
