Meet Hennessy! She is a 3 yr old spayed female brindle pitbull mix that weighs 32 lbs. She came into the Mesquite Animal Shelter on 12/3 as an owner surrender. Reason for surrender was unwanted. Hennessy is a lovely girl that was adopted previously from our shelter. During this time, she did not receive the best care. She is malnourished, skin is dry, some hair loss around her neck and hard calluses on her back hips showing she was living outside on concrete. Despite this she still has a happy go lucky loving personality. She enjoys going on walks, being petted and loved on. When sitting in a chair she will jump in my lap for pets. She remembers the sit/lay command and does take treats somewhat gently. She will be receiving additional feedings that I know will help her feel better. As we walked past the other dogs barking at her, she didn`t pay any attention, but we do ask if you have another dog in the home, please be sure to ask the shelter for a dog test. She would love to have a secured backyard to play in, but most importantly live indoors where she can be close and cuddly with her human companions. Please give this lovely girl the chance at her final loving home she so deserves.

Luke could win a personality contest as he’s the whole ball of wax! He is a one year-old 49 pound American terrier pit that was surrendered to the Mesquite Animal Shelter on 3/25. They gave two reasons for the surrender: landlord issues and health of owner. He is already fixed. The owner surrender form said that he was an inside outside dog and that he is housebroken. They said he was not raised with dogs or cats, but that he does get along with other dogs. He was raised with children and gets along with them. They also said he loves to play. I would say he loves to frolic. He’s a very happy, easy-going, affectionate well mannered boy. He jumps up, but knows not to jump on you. He sits for treats and takes them gently. He’s highly motivated by treats and continues to sit in anticipation of another treat. When I sat down, he came to me and at one point wanted to get on my lap, but then settled down and just gave me kisses. He’s a very good boy and would be a loyal, loving companion. He’s very eager to please. He does have a strong pull on the leash. Since he’s such a lover, he will want to spend most of his time hanging out with his new loving family in the house.

Eva has such a spirit and outgoing personality. She is so excited to be out of her kennel and on her way to play in the kennel yard. She does jump with excitement, but once her energy is out, she loves to lay down on the floor or a fluffy puppy bed and give you a big smile. She is friendly, sweet and very observant. She walks well on a leash, loves treats, and takes them gently. She is a beauty and dreams of finding her own loving family that can provide her a secured backyard to run and play in, but most importantly live indoors and cuddle close to her human companions. Meet Brandy, a mixed breed girl weighing 60 pounds, is approx 6 years of age and is spayed. Sadly, this precious girl was abandoned by her people and ended up at the Mesquite Animal Shelter on 8/15. Do the math and note that she has been there for over 3 months. For no good reason, she has been overlooked by those who come to the shelter looking for a pet. She continues to be hopeful that the perfect person or family will see what a wonderful and devoted family member she would be. She is a happy girl, friendly, eager, loving, and does she ever love to cuddle! Wow! One of our volunteers has taken a special interest in her and sings her praises. Brandy loves to walk and does very well on a leash. Brandy doesn’t jump on you. She is house trained. She is highly motivated by treats. She is sweet natured, affectionate, and did I mention she likes to cuddle? 😁
