Meet unforgettable Tess! She's a lively, high-spirited American Pit Bull that arriveed as a stray at the Mesquite Animal Shelter on 1/29. Yes, that makes 4 1/2 months that she's been a shelter resident.. She has watched other dogs rescued, adopted or reclaimed and yet as wonderful as she is, she remains. Tess weighs about 50 pounds, is approx 2 years old and is spayed. She was absolutely delighted when I took her from her kennel to the yard. She walks ok on a leash but was anxious to get out so did pull. She pottied in the yard. She has a habit of doing zoomies in the yard--back and forth, back and forth--just thrilled to be stretching her legs and running. She has spunk, energy, a playful nature, and you could say she is an on-the-go kind of gal. The warmth of the summer Texas afternoon caused her to slow down and begin the investigation process of checking out all the smells, looking out the gate and placing her paws on the ledge in order to see what was going on in the outside world. She sits for treats and takes them politely. Tess needs an active family or person that will give her daily playtime, exercise and enrichment. She is more than willing to learn some commands and even to take obedience classes. She's sure she would be at the top of her class!
