Story
Aberdeen Scottish Terrier Rescue is a registered 501(c)3. ***MUST SUBMIT APPLICATION before we will respond to email or phone inquiries. Thank You for your cooperation*** WE ARE NOT A SHELTER; WE ARE AN ALL-VOLUNTEER RESCUE WITH FULL-TIME JOBS. Please do not contact us to look at a dog. We will contact you once we have reviewed your completed application if we think your home might be a good fit. A reference check, phone interview, and home visit will be completed before meeting an adoptable dog. We work quickly. Please do not submit an application until you are ready to bring a new furry family member home. Expect your references to be contacted shortly after submitting your application. We adopt out to homes around the US and Canada, but require that you are present for the meet and greet in Newcastle, WA. Our adoption fee is non-negotiable. The adoption fee is due on the day of adoption in the form of a check, Chase Quick Pay, PayPal, or cash. This is yet another extremely sad story for the sweet Mr Prince. Prince had 48 hours left to live otherwise he was going to lose his life in a very high kill shelter in CA. His owner had dropped the handsome Prince off at the shelter & he had been waiting for someone to come for him for well over a month, but no one did. He had his second upper respiratory infection in the shelter but as we quickly learned when we rescued him & rushed him to our vets he had pneumonia & we did not know if he was going to survive as he was so extremely ill. Our vets let us know if we did not rescue him he would of died from the pneumonia before he was put to sleep. We had our work cut out for us with Prince after rescuing him, he was extremely sick & stayed at our vets for several days on an iv, receiving meds, good nutrition & care. Once he was well enough off into his foster home he went, he followed his foster mum everywhere & became her shadow. We wanted to make sure Prince is good with men & we put him into a daycare with men to see how he was & he loves the men who look after him. Prince does well with some dogs but we recommend a home where he can be the only dog & get all the attention. He also does like to play & will play rough with the other dogs. Prince rides beautifully in the car & enjoys a good journey & he now loves to eat & walks good on a leash. We are looking for a forever home with Prince where someone is home during the day or he can go with his people wherever possible. Prince is looking for a forever home who will cherish him & love him as he should be loved. This boy has already been through so much & already been abandoned before. Prince has been around many breeds of dogs all shapes & sizes & he is currently with other dogs here in WA & was in CA. Prince is roughly 5 years old & 64.2 lbs & is perhaps a American pit bull, male, neutered, took several months to get him healthy & to a healthy weight as he had severe pneumonia & we did not know if he would survive, had patchy hair loss & crusty patches on skin, he is microchipped, up to date on his shots, including DHLPP, Bordatella, CIV, rabies & dewormed. We have spent far more on rescuing Prince, with all of his medical care, getting him well from severe pneumonia including x-rays, treatments & not knowing if he would survive the severity of the pneumonia he needed a lot of extra care. Along with vet bills in CA & WA, transport, boarding etc we have spent more on Prince’s care than his fee covers. Prince has been around cats since being in the rescue & he does like to chase the cats so a home with no cats is best for Prince, but it’s always up to the new family to be responsible with their animals together & we have not had him around small children so we do not recommend small children & it’s always up to the family to be responsible with their children. We were not there when Prince was conceived so we do not know who his parents were & it’s always up to the new potential family to look at the pictures & decide what they think his breed is. As with all of our rescues & Prince’s friends he will need work on potty training & training, so this should be something the new family would be willing to work on & commit to. Please do not submit an application if you are not willing to commit to one of our rescues care for their whole life & that includes if they need training with more than 1 class. Please do not email us asking is Prince potty trained or available, nor do we ship dogs anywhere as we will not respond. We would never say anyone of our rescues are potty trained. Our rescues need homes where the people are understanding of their past & what they have been through & what they will need in their daily lives & not willing to give up on them & if they do need training in their new home will in fact take them to training & not just say they will when applying. Prince has been through many traumas in his life so when applying this needs to be kept in mind & for his care. Please only submit an application if you are truly interested in adopting Prince & going through our process and have read his listing fully to the end & are wanting to adopt. If you are not responsive to our calls, emails or your references do not respond we will move on & remove your application from our system. You must be willing to go through our screening process which includes your references being checked, a phone interview & a virtual home visit using Webex due to covid & followed by a meet and greet & if it’s a good fit, up to our discretion. We will only be accepting applications for Prince who understands his needs & that meet all the requirements for this beautiful boy. Once we find the right home for each little soul we work fast, within days so the dogs can go to their forever homes in quite a timely manner. We do not hold onto dogs for people as our goal is to save lives & please do not submit an application if you are not ready to adopt. We also cannot respond to every application unfortunately. Prince has an adoption fee of $500 & is ready for his truly loving forever home & compassion & understanding of what he has been through.

Story
Hello! My name is Wishbone. I came to RASKC as a stray and now I`m ready to find a new home! I`m a sweet but low key boy who needs time to get to know people before I get affectionate. Nothing is known about my history but my behavior suggests I may not have been well socialized. This means that everyday experiences may frighten me more than the average pup. I will need a home that understands my shyness and is willing to go at my pace. I`ve been very loving with the staff members who frequent my kennel and spend time with me - I like to put my big head in their lap and get those sweet, sweet ear rubs. I love chicken jerky treats and will be the bravest boy possible if it means I`ll get one! I keep a clean kennel and am polite for leashing. Due to my size and fearfulness, I will be most likely to succeed in a teen/adult only home where my boundaries can be easily understood and respected. I weigh 60lbs and am considered a large breed dog. I am currently underweight, my new family will want to work with their vet to help me get to the proper size. I am a gentle and loving dog who likes to take things slow. I may get nervous in new situations, so I am looking for a family who understands that I might take some time to warm up. Once I get to know you, I will be a very devoted friend!

Hi! My name is Meza and I am available for adoption.I was brought in by a good Samaritan on 02/07/2025.I weigh 37.9 lbs and am considered a medium breed dog.I am a very smart dog! At the shelter I am practicing how to `sit`, `stay`, `come`, `down` and `shake`.I am an affectionate lovebug who would be thrilled to cuddle up with you at home!I am an independent dog who likes to do my own thing!I am full of energy and I love to play! I tend to calm down more when the people around me stay calm. I do best when I have lots of exercise and something to keep my mind busy.I will need to find a home where someone is available for me in these early days. It is important to be consistent with me and socialize me so I can have the best companionship with people and other animals. I require patience because everything is brand new so I will need some TLC while I learn it will help tremendously on a road to success! If you and your family are ready to fall in love my awesome self, please check me out!!

Story
Hi! My name is Duque (Doo-Kay) and I am available for adoption.I weigh 60.0 lbs. I and am considered a `medium breed` I am quite short and stalky!I am a sweet, goofy boy looking for a home to call my own.I love to play in the yard with toys and will quickly win you over when you hear my adorable snorts. :)I am very smart! At the shelter I am practicing how to `sit`, `stay`, `come`, `down` and `shake`.I am an affectionate love bug who would be thrilled to cuddle up with you at home!My caregivers have noticed that I seem to do well with other dogs around my size. I came in with my pal Rambo. When meeting dogs in a new home, I would do best with a slow introduction. I have gone to playgroup several times and seem to have a rambunctious, full contact playstyle that may only be appreciated by other outgoing dogs. I would do best in a home where the other pups are forgiving of my bombastic nature and `Bull in a China Shop` demeanor.I went into a foster home for a little break and my foster states that I did great with everyone I met and loved meeting other dogs. I caught a glimpse of the cat in the home and was quite excitable! I would probably do best in a home without prey-like animals.I am a spirited dog with a fun-loving personality! I am still working on my manners, so I would do best with a family who is willing to work with me and help me become the best dog I can be!

Hi! My name is Gibson and I am available for adoption.I was brought in by a good samaritan on February 26, 2025.I weigh ~70 lbs and am considered a `large breed` dog.I must admit I can be quite shy and unsure of new things and people at first. I am a huge foodie so I can be won over with treats. I take treats gently and will happily `sit` and `shake` for them :)Once I warm up to you I am a sweet guy!The good samaritan said that I was very excited when I met the other dogs in the home! When meeting dogs in a new home, I would do best with a slow introduction. My caregivers mention that I appear to be potty-trained!I am a spirited dog with a fun-loving personality! Story
Harrison is a stunning brindle sweetheart with a heart as big as his paws and he is looking for his forever home! This charming boy is the perfect mix of laid-back and loving and is ready to make a lucky family’s life brighter! Harrison is a loyal companion and is happiest when he’s near his people, often resting by your side or adorably draping his legs across your lap. When his people leave the house, he patiently watches out the window waiting for them to return.  A stuffed toy aficionado, Harrison LOVES stuffed toys and delights in carrying them around the house. He even gathers them into a cozy pile to lounge with—seriously, how cute is that? He also enjoys going for walks and leisurely strolls in quiet neighborhoods or open fields. Leisurely walks and stuffed toy snuggle piles, sign us up!  Harrison has a gentle, serious demeanor—think tall, dark, and handsome, with a heart of gold. He’s wonderful with older kids (10+) and takes treats like a true gentleman. He has firm ideas about bedtime and even puts himself to bed when it gets dark outside. Hysterical!  Recently, Harrison has started to expand his social circle and has become friends with other mellow dogs. With slow introductions, he could potentially join a home with a laid-back pup, or be perfectly content as the only dog in your life. Harrison is 9 years old and weighs 75 pounds. He is a pit bull type dog who can’t wait to find his family! If you’re ready for a devoted, affectionate, and oh-so-handsome companion, Harrison could be for you!  Harrison's adoption fee is $450. He is neutered, up to date on vaccines, and is microchipped. Per our rescue policy, unless specifically noted in a dog's bio, we will not consider adoption applications from families with children under 5 years old.  Fill out an adoption application for Harrision at: https://www.forgottendogsrescue.com/adoption-application See more photos of Harrison on his Facebook album! https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.531973772305648&type=3 ##1588253##
