Animal Profile: Beau is a handsome blue and white pittie mix who joined us from San Bernardino County, CA. He is estimated to be 9 months old and weighs just under 40 pounds. Kennel staff noted that he is initially shy and would need some help building his confidence, but he consistently seek out pets and attention. He tested well with all the other dogs he met and played with at the shelter. Beau is looking forward to finding a loving home here in the Pacific Northwest! Foster Update: Beau aka “Duke Silver” is such a handsome boy who loves to snuggle and play. His personality is a really nice mix of super chill and playful. He will happily play with the resident dog or his people, he LOVES to play tug-of-war with his foster sister but he is also super content playing with toys on his own. Beau is a bit timid at first when meeting new people and the big world is a bit loud but he warms up quickly is getting used to adventuring. He would love to have another playful dog in the house to help show him the ropes but with an active family, he would be fine as a solo dog too. Beau recently passed his cat test with flying colors and we think he would be just fine living with cats as well! We will provide more updates as we continue to learn more about this sweet boy. Animal History: Penny and her siblings were a surprise litter - their mother was adopted from a local family when she was unknowingly pregnant, so he got much more than he bargained for when she had puppies soon after her adoption. Penny was born on 12/09/22; one of the littermates was DNA tested and so presumably all littermates are 75% English Bulldog, 12.5% German Shepherd, 12.5% Rhodesian Ridgeback. As puppies, these dogs were playful and engaging. Penny was adopted as a puppy to a family who was not prepared for the tendencies of this breed combination. Without any formal training, she developed territorial behaviors in the home and on walks that ultimately led the family to return her to the rescue. Animal Profile: Buddy is an estimated 6-year-old 70 lb male Boxer mix who is social and friendly with people and dogs. He was surrendered to the rescue when his owner passed away and the family worked to find safe placement for him and another dog in the home. Shelters were full. A neighbor was feeding the dogs who were left for weeks with access to a yard thru a dog door. Buddy is grateful to be in foster care now, and has had a recent vet exam. He is in good health and finally neutered. We will share more about him as we get to know him in foster care. Foster Updates: Buddy is a lovable, calm, low maintenance guy! When he arrived, he was a little chunky and not too active. We're a relatively active family and he's come to love our daily 2-mile walks. He really gets excited to go outside! He's also starting to run around the backyard a little more now that he's slimmed down a little bit. That said, he's pretty chill and loves to cuddle. He's a solid 70lbs but thinks he's a lap dog. We’d recommend a family with mid-level activity. He's good on short hikes, daily walks, and moderate exercise, but we don't think he'd be a good running partner for hard-core athletes. Buddy is house and crate trained. He loves car rides and is easy to take around in the car. He's content to stay in one place, especially if he has an open window. We think Buddy would be a good fit in a house with a yard or even a condo. He just needs a walk and some love & attention.
