Story
Julien is an absolute dreamboat! Not only is he a slam-dunk in the looks department, he's mastered the "puppy eyes"; and just sucks you in with one look. Julien is sweet as can be, just melting in your hands and showering you with kisses. This kid is a master snuggler, and his tail never stops wagging. Although Julien does totally fine with other dogs when a barrier such as a fence or kennel door is involved, he would prefer not to share your attention and be the only dog in his forever home. Julien came to us with many scars on his face and legs, so we're assuming he may have been attacked in the past and understandably feels a bit nervous around other dogs. Julien has spent some time in our staff offices, as he's a favorite around the shelter. He loves to help with office duties and make sure everyone stays on task. After a few minutes of exploring, Julien settles in and lays on his bed all stretched relaxing. Julien is one fantastic pup, that's for sure! All of our animals are spayed/neutered, microchipped, and up to date on age appropriate vaccines. Story
Fiyero is a sweet and charming male pit bull on a quest to find his forever home. With his adorable face and loving personality, he is sure to steal your heart the moment you meet him! Fiyero is full of energy and loves to play, especially fetch. Whether he's running around having fun or cuddling up with his favorite humans for quiet moments, he’s always eager to show affection. His playful spirit and gentle demeanor make him the perfect companion for someone looking for a loyal friend. While Fiyero is an all-around loving dog, he does need slow introductions to other animals. Unfortunately, he hasn't always had the patience and time he deserves in previous environments, and because of that, he may need a bit of extra care when meeting other pets. With proper introductions and patience, Fiyero may flourish and build positive relationships with other animals. He loves being the center of attention and will be your most devoted companion, offering unconditional love and joy. If you’re looking for a sweet, playful dog with a heart of gold, Fiyero may just be the perfect fit for you! Come meet him today and let him show you just how wonderful life can be with him by your side. All of our dogs are dewormed, spayed/neutered, microchipped, up to date on age appropriate vaccines, and heartworm tested if they are old enough. Story
Once upon a time, there was a sweet PitBull puppy. She must have had a home, because she knew how to manage stairs, walk nicely on a leash, and that her business gets done outside; and more than anything, she loved people. One day, she found herself outside with her human not around. Days turned into weeks, into months, and nobody gave her any food. She became very very thin (such that her vertebra poked out of her back) except for her belly, because it was full of puppies! Being alone, pregnant, weak, and scared, she learned she had to protect herself, her food, and any possessions from other mean dogs. Shortly before the puppies were born some humans got her into rescue and then a foster home. Most of the puppies didn't survive, but for the last two months she was able to raise the last puppy in a home where she got lots of food, love, attention, and some training. Now she just needs you to complete her story! The foster mom reports that Stashy is an absolute love sponge! She wants to be near you and in your lap and in your face (but we're working on that one). A low energy couch potato, except for zoomies outside, she needs of a lot of reassurance and clear boundaries but listens very well. She has no aggression towards people, but is very fearful in interactions with other dogs. She would like to be friends with them, but if she feels threatened will respond aggressively. If she had a housemate, it would have to be a very laid back, neutral aura dog. She would make a nice dog for a family with kids 6 and older, preferably one that has lots of attention to give her and lets her sleep touching you at night, maybe even under the covers of the bed! All of our dogs are dewormed, spayed/neutered, microchipped, up to date on age appropriate vaccines, and heartworm tested if they are old enough. Story
Bindi is a sweet, playful, and loving puppy who may have had a unique start to life, but she doesn't let anything hold her back! After being transferred from Winnebago County following an injury, Bindi has become a tripod, but this hasn't slowed her down one bit. Full of energy and joy, she’s ready to share her heart with her forever family. While Bindi is still learning the ropes of life, she is a true puppy at heart—wild, clumsy, and full of love. She loves to play, but she’s still working on understanding when older dogs aren’t in the mood for playtime. She would thrive in a home with a dog who enjoys playtime, as it would help boost her confidence. A dog buddy who is open to play would be an ideal match for her! Bindi is crate-trained and is still perfecting her potty training, which may have been impacted by her recent surgery. She’s making progress, and with patience and love, she’ll continue to improve. Though Bindi is a big chewer, she sticks to her bones, bully sticks, and Greenies—not household items—so she’s easy to keep entertained and content. She does enjoy a playful nibble but she understands when you say “No, ouch, and no bites.” Despite her wild side, Bindi is the ultimate snuggler! She loves sleeping in the bed, especially with her favorite human, a 5-year-old boy. There's nothing she loves more than being close to her family and soaking up all the love and human touch she can get. Her eyes are incredibly expressive—those little "human eyes" make it clear exactly how she’s feeling, and it’s easy to get attached to her sweet face and personality. Bindi's spirited and affectionate nature shines through, proving that no challenge is too big when you have a heart full of love. She is looking for a forever home where she can be treated with the love, care, and attention she deserves. Whether you're up for an adventure or just lounging on the couch, Bindi will be by your side, ready to share all of her joy and affection. If you're looking for a resilient, loving girl who can bring endless joy into your life, Bindi may just be the perfect fit for your family. Come meet her today, and let her show you the incredible bond you can share with this sweet girl! All of our dogs are dewormed, spayed/neutered, microchipped, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, and heartworm tested if they are old enough. Story
Zuko is a lovable and playful pup who has been through a lot, but he’s now ready for a fresh start with a loving family. After healing from some skin issues, he’s almost completely recovered and just needs one final surgery to be fully healed and free to enjoy his new life. This sweet boy adores playing with toys and showing off his playful spirit. He’s also incredibly well-mannered—sitting nicely for treats and taking them gently. Zuko’s unique and gorgeous eyes, each a different color, make him even more special and truly one-of-a-kind. Zuko is looking for a home where he can continue his recovery and receive the love and attention he deserves. If you’re looking for a sweet, playful companion who’s ready to share his heart, Zuko might be the perfect fit for you. Come meet him today and see how amazing life can be with him by your side! Story
Hope is being fostered in LA. Hope is a sweet and happy girl. She does have some vision loss. Hope is fit, healthy and a very loyal pup full of energy and love. She is ready to fill your days with adventure and nights with cuddling. Hope is looking for a daytime exercise partner with whom she can run, play with toys, engage in games of catch, tug of war and sometimes long silly leaps just for fun. In the evening a snuggle buddy is in order so she can cuddle close with her head on the lap of her human. Hope is very loyal and loving to her person. This sweetheart is well behaved and very likeable. She does well on a leash and is really great about going to her kennel when asked. Hope enjoys meeting new people and they, her. She is so adored at the vets office that they treat her like the “Belle of the Ball” giving her all kinds of special attention and loving. Hope, with all her positive qualities is still a youngster and often doesn’t know her own strength, so she can sometimes play rough. Slow introductions would be best. She plays well with most dogs, but prefers unassertive canine friends and would do well in a home without small children or cats. (Transports within 18 hours travel time are available to approved adopter.) BDRA has voted against the use of electrical fencing effective immediately.

***** Peanut has been with us longer than we would like so she is a member of our Lonely Hearts Club and her adoption fee has been reduced to $325. *****The peanut is also known as the groundnut, goober or goober pea. Thank goodness this is a dog and not a goober pea, although, goober pea would be a great description for her scrumdiddlyumptious snout. Peanut is great dog that can be forward and a bit pushy with other dogs, so it would be best if she was the only dog in her new home. We`d recommend being introduced very slowly to any new dogs she meets. Sometimes children are a little overwhelming, so she should go to a home with teens or older. She is still learning her manners and would benefit from some training to redirect her excitement to toys! To help with training, Peanut is eligible for four free sessions with an online training service called GoodPup! And would you be surprised if we told you Peanut loves peanut butter? Come meet Peanut today to see if she would be a good fit for your home!Medical History: I appear to be a healthy young adult dog who should meet my new vet shortly after adoption to keep me on the pathway of good health.Adoption Fee: $325 plus taxIf you`d like to meet me, click the `Learn About the Adoption Process` button below to plan a visit to the shelter!RESTRICTIONS: Teens and older only

***** Petal has been with us longer than we would like so she is a member of our Lonely Hearts Club and her adoption fee has been reduced to $325. *****Meet the lovely little miss Petal! She is a sweet, shy pup, and when she meets the right family, she is sure to bloom! Petal is a sweetheart who loves to cuddle on your lap and get all the pets you can offer. Petal`s ideal family will have the patience to help her come out of her shell and help teach her all the love and beauty life has to offer! Petal came from a tough beginning so she is still wary of strangers and other animals-- for this reason, she would need time to meet and adjust to new animals she might meet or live with. Young kids will be a little too overwhelming for her as well. She would benefit greatly from positive reinforcement training and slow introductions within her new home. To help with this training, she is eligible for a 4-week scholarship to an online training program called GoodPup - ask your adoptions counselor for more detail! Could Petal be the pretty pittie pup for you?Weight: 41.4 lbsMedical history: I appear to be a healthy young adult dog, but would love to meet my regular veterinarian after adoption to establish care and make sure I`m in tip top shape!Adoption Fee: $325 plus taxIf you`d like to meet me, click the `Learn About the Adoption Process` button below to plan a visit to the shelter!

Hey there! I’m Bronx, a one-year-old brown dog with a ton of energy and a love for all things exercise. If there’s running, playing, or anything that involves burning energy, count me in! I’m excited to find a home where I can get plenty of action and fun activities to keep me busy and happy. I wouldn`t be a good fit with young kids, cats, or small critters—I can’t help but get a little too excited around them, and I need someone who matches my energy better! Are you looking for a fun pup who is ready to go on adventures with you? Then, we can settle down on the couch and watch our favorite show together! I can`t wait to meet you! My adoption also includes a scholarship to a four week training program called GoodPup, so be sure to ask about that when you meet me! Greetings and salutations! I’m Azul, and I’m as beautiful as a blueberry. Probably as healthy for you, too! I love all people, and have lived with another dog in peace, as long as we were fed apart from one another. I’m playful, and always excited to be around people. So much so, that sometimes I get a little too jumpy and wiggly. Nothing a little training couldn’t solve. I’m an all around sweet pea (I mean berry), and I can’t even wait to meet you! Hi there folks, I`m Bessie, the sweetest cow looking dog you`ll meet west of the Mississippi. I was found outside and brought in by some lovely folks, but now I`m ready to meet my fur-ever family! I`m as friendly and happy-go-lucky as anyone, with an excitement for life. I have lots of energy to give, and would greatly benefit from a family who will do positive reinforcement training with me to help learn good doggy manners. Because I can get excited from time to time, I`ll need to go to a home without any small kids who I could accidentally knock over in my exuberance. I`ve met some dogs around the shelter but I`m not sure what to make of them yet, so would benefit from slow and positive introductions to any dogs in her future home. I`m really looking for a family who will keep me happy and active, and someone that will share my passion for life! If she sounds like a good match, come visit the shelter to meet me today!
