Ash is 3 years old. She’s an amazing dog, I love her so much. It really breaks my heart to have to rehome her. This is the hardest thing I’ve ever had to do. It’s just not in her best interest for me to have her anymore. She deserves more than what I can provide. She’s energetic, but just wants constant love and attention. She’s been with me through it all, she’ll be a great companion. She is truly the best dog, she just needs a good home.

I’m Stella, a 3-year-old Boxer Bulldog mix. I’m a relaxed and lazy girl around the house, always on the lookout for a cozy spot to chew on my favorite bone or snuggle with my foster siblings and humans. One of my favorite pastimes is watching the neighborhood squirrels from the window—I've gotten so good at calmly observing them without barking! My favorite toys are filled bones, my two beloved pink toys that I love to shred, and a stuffed elephant with a squeaker that I love to destroy. While I'm not the biggest fan of being outside, I've grown to enjoy my daily walks, especially now that I'm more comfortable on a leash. A big yard with a tall fence would be great for me, especially for potty training and using up some energy. If you don't have a fence, we can go on daily walks together to get my exercise.  Once that is out, I'm a happy couch potato.  Having another dog in my foster home show me how has been helpful.  I'd love another dog my size in my forever home, but I could be an only pup, too, if you humans are home often and promise to spend time with me.  Speaking of potty breaks, I’m doing great with potty training, although have had accidents in my kennel. I usually go potty on the concrete or the back porch, but I’m learning to use the grass too! I’m very smart and have been working hard on my house manners and know some cool commands like 'Sit,' 'Come,' 'Kennel/Crate,' 'Outside,' and 'Go Potty.' I absolutely adore kids, but I can get a bit excited and might accidentally knock over small children. I’m working on being gentle but don’t always know my size. I love to play with other confident dogs after a slow introduction and enjoy running and playing with them. I do get excited around cats at first, but once I settle in, I mostly ignore them. I’m what you would call a high-energy dog and it can appear as high energy reactiveness when I meet new dogs, so an experienced dog owner that can do proper introductions would help me remember to be polite and thrive.  Once I settle in and we get that excited energy out, then we can Netflix and chill and nap together.  I’m a sweet, loving girl who would thrive in an active family with dog experience and perhaps some kids to play and cuddle with. I live for toys and I trot around like a champion and show it off to my humans when I find a good one. I also love to go on walks with my humans. We are working on not pulling on the leash and I am a quick learner but do need a reminder once in awhile.  No fenced in yard needed for me, but hey, if you had one, that sure would be fun to run around in and patrol your yard.  I am potty and crate trained, too. Smart huh? I would love to keep learning new things and take an obedience class with you so we can be the smartest duo the world has ever seen.  I would do best in a home with an active owner and either a female dog, a non alpha male dog, or your only dog so we can be besties.  As far as humans go, I love all of them and if you promise to love me, I will happily return the favor with kisses and adventures.  I haven't met any young kids, but when I get excited, I jump for big hugs and would likely knock small ones over.  Also, if they had snacks in their hands, I'd assume they were giving that to me... right? Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.  Hello, my name is Merida and oh my stars, have I been busy since coming into rescue here.  Let’s get the nuts and bolts out of the way.  I’m still working on potty training but to my defense, most dogs that come into rescue are still learning this trick.  I have been going in the same spot, so it makes it easier to determine when I need to go out. (wink wink)  I am a bulldog afterall and do have some dry eye issues, that I happily take meds for. My eyelashes curl in a bit, but keeping those nice and lubricated helps with that, too! The vet said I don't need surgery on those, so long as I get my eye drops! I also don’t require a fenced yard although I won’t turn one away.  I haven’t had lots of practice using a leash for walking yet but that just gives us time to work on that together.  I keep my kennel clean all day long despite a grumble and whimper when you first put me in there. Mainly because I’m a little lover. People are my jam. I get so darn excited around them that sometimes I go THROUGH them, so maybe older kids and sure-footed people for now. BULLDOOOZZER! I end up under your feet a lot also because I just want to be where you are.  So don’t try putting me outside to potty by myself because I will barrel through the door to get to you! I don’t like to be left alone.  I’m an angel with dogs of all sizes but that being said, I’m ok to be an only dog as long as you promise to socialize me and help me with proper doggie etiquette.  I’d love another dog to keep learning from if you have one, however. I don’t play with toys much at this point but have recently discovered an interest in cords that are plugged in and chair legs, so be mindful.  I redirect easily with a bone or some simple scratches. Again, I am learning so much about being in a home! My foster mom said I am the perfect combination of couch potato and energy.  I hope you agree! While breed experience is not required, we encourage you to thoroughly research the breed and its financial, medical, and environmental needs to be sure the breed is a good fit for you and your family.  It is estimated that the average bulldog owner spends $2,000 per year on medical needs.         In addition to normal pre adoption surgeries, Merida also had surgery on her nares and soft palate to improve the quality of her breathing. This is reflected within her adoption fee.
