Story
Hi, I’m Winton! I am a loving, smart, funny, and playful guy. I am also very cute! I love meeting new people and am friendly with everyone I meet. I am very affectionate and will snuggle up on the couch next to my foster parents or even in their laps. My foster parents say that I am quite smart and can be a bit mischievous at times. I know sit, down, and I am working on come. I also like to play fetch – I am pretty good at retrieving things - and I love to run around the yard. Mostly, though, I just love to hang out with my foster parents, and I pretty much am always in whatever room they are in. At night I sleep curled up on the bed next to them.
I currently live with a lab mix foster sister and a Doberman mix foster sister. I really adore my foster sisters, and I look to them for guidance. I enjoy playing with them, especially the Dobe mix, and I’m good at holding my own even though I’m half her size. I would do great in a home with a doggie sibling who can show me the ropes and who likes to play as much as I do. At times I like to steal whatever toy or bone my foster sisters have, so a doggie sibling will need to be ok with my little brother antics. I am still a bit puppyish and sometimes forget that hands are not chew toys when I get excited. Because of this, I will do best in a home with children over 10 years old. I also need for my forever home to have a fully fenced in yard.
I am a good boy, and I am house broken. I am also crate trained, and it’s where I spend my time when my foster parents are away from home. Sometimes the world can seem like a scary place to me, and I experience a bit of anxiety. My foster parents have been working on my confidence, and I’m learning how to go for walks and do fun things without being scared. My new family will need to be understanding of this and help me learn how to be the best version of myself. I would really benefit from a training class where positive reinforcement and enrichment training methods are used.
Winton is available to adopt in the Chicagoland area and is being fostered in a home. Appointments to visit him will be set up for approved adopters only. Adoption fee is $200 which includes all appropriate vaccines, and he is already neutered and microchipped.
