Rancher is a lovable snugglebug, known for his affectionate nature and penchant for being a cozy weighted blanket when he gets his pets. This big-hearted pup adores hot dog treats, pup cups while riding shotgun, and chasing off any backyard critters! Rancher has a strong prey drive towards small animals, so a home without smaller critters would be ideal for him. His favorite pastimes include gnawing on his beloved knuckle bone, lounging on cool hardwood floors with his legs sprawled out, and playfully head-butting his human for more attention. Rancher is looking for a family who appreciates his gentle giant demeanor and is ready to shower him with the love and attention he craves. If you're seeking a loyal companion who will happily share his warmth and affection, Rancher is eagerly waiting to meet you. Stop in and meet his cute self in person during our adoption hours. For more information, email info@ahconnects.org or call us at 847-697-2880 x: 0, and the staff will be happy to help you. Our dogs and puppies go home spayed/neutered, microchipped, heartworm tested (7 months and over), and up to date on core vaccines, heartworm, flea, and tick preventatives. Story
Meet Tater, the pup formerly known as Bobo, a stubby little bundle of charm and character! Despite his small size, Tater is overflowing with energy and enthusiasm, ready to tackle any adventure that comes his way. This goofball of a pup delights in playtime with other dogs, bringing a contagious joy to every romp and wrestle session. His playful spirit is infectious, making him a favorite playmate among his furry friends. Tater also boasts decent leash manners, eagerly wagging his tail as he accompanies his favorite people on leisurely walks. His excitement for exploring new sights and smells shines through during these outings, where he eagerly takes in the world around him. With his adorable antics and boundless energy, Tater brings a ray of sunshine wherever he goes. Whether he's engaging in playful shenanigans or calmly strolling beside his loved ones, Tater's vibrant personality and affectionate nature make him a cherished companion and a joy to be around. I know my cute face is irresistible, but remember that I will take up lots of your time and attention while I grow into an awesome adult dog. Socialization, training (including house training), and exercise are just a few of the things I will look to you for. Chewing, teething, and learning what is Okay and not Okay to put in my mouth are all part of the puppy experience. And, be prepared for the time and money for frequent trips to the vet during the first few months so I can get up to date on my boosters and vaccines. But most of all, be prepared for all of the LOVE, puppy kisses, and joy I will bring into your life. If you are up for the challenge and the fun, stop in and meet my cute self in person during our adoption hours. Story
Meet Perla, a delightful 2-year-old Australian Cattle Dog (Blue Heeler) mix with a unique personality looking for her forever home. In her foster environment, Perla has shown typical Heeler traits by forming a strong bond with her foster mom. She's a playful spirit who enjoys interactive games but has a tendency to sneak snacks from other pets' food bowls. While still learning to communicate her need to go outside, Perla is adamant about keeping the house clean. Perla exhibits some nervousness around men and children at first and would love a family that can help her gain more confidence around new people. She shows curiosity towards the resident cats and has formed a friendship with another dog in the home, enjoying playtime and companionship with her. During her time in foster care, Perla has made progress in basic training, responding well to cues like sit, lay down, etc. Her favorite pastimes include romping around the yard, rolling in the grass, and going on leisurely walks around the neighborhood. Perla thrives on companionship and would blossom in a patient home environment where her unique quirks are understood and embraced. If you're ready to provide a loving home for Perla and help her continue to grow, reach out to learn more about this sweet and spirited canine companion. Story
Meet Junebug, a friendly and lovable dog who's on the mend and ready to find her forever home! Junebug is currently working on her house training and uses potty pads in the meantime. She enjoys her walks, and cuddling, and absolutely loves to eat-especially when it involves taking her medication in hot dogs! Junebug is also a fan of toys and loves to play. Junebug is a sweetheart who initially gets very curious about cats but settles in well after a proper decompression period. She has shown she can coexist peacefully with feline friends once she's adjusted. Though she barks occasionally, she doesn't howl, making her a relatively quiet companion. She's very friendly with people and enjoys making new human friends. Junebug knows basic training cues and is very fond of her dog bed, where she can relax after a fun day. This brave girl is currently in rehabilitation after undergoing a double Femoral Head Ostectomy surgery on both hips. She's slowly regaining strength in her hind legs and is making great progress. Junebug is also heartworm positive and is patiently waiting for her re-test in early October 2024. If you're looking for a sweet, friendly dog who's full of love and ready to share her journey with you, Junebug could be the perfect fit. She's a resilient and affectionate companion who's eager to find a loving home where she can continue to thrive! Story
Hi my name is Busker! I’m a happy, healthy and playful little pup. I was born on 2/13/24. My mom came to New Start Dog Rescue when me and my siblings were still in her tummy. So we were born in a foster home and have been well taken care of since birth. I currently weigh 21.2 lbs. Not sure who my dad was but my mom is 35 lbs. and is a Cattle Dog/Blue Heeler mix. I’ll probably get to be more than that cause I’m a chunky baby right now! The rescue sent out a DNA test on me and my siblings, turns out we’re part Australian Cattle Dog, American Pit Bull Terrier, American English Coonhound, Miniature Pinscher, and Supermutt! Talk about a great mix! Local adoptions only. We do not adopt out of the state of Illinois. Puppies are being fostered in a private home. Appointments to meet them will be set up for approved adopters only. The adoption fee is $300 which includes all age appropriate vaccines. The puppies are neutered/spayed and microchipped. Please visit our website and fill out an application if you are interested at http://newstartdogrescue.org

Story
Meet Panini, me! I am a sweet and snuggly girl, who loves to sit on the couch with my people on a rainy day. When it is nice and sunny outside though I love a good play session. When I am not snuggled up on the couch with you, I like to do doggy puzzles, play with my friends, and go on a sniffer. I am a huge foody (suiting right?). Some of my top picks include chicken, bread, peanut butter, pup cups, and cheese. If you are a sandwich and dog kind of person I would love to meet you! I am working on my basic manners, overcoming my fears, and making new friends. I need a slow approach to life to ensure that I can make positive associations. Don't worry, the Training Team can help set us up for success! Because Panin is a nervous gal and initially handling might be difficult for her, we are requiring a fenced-in yard so she can go in and out on her own. A household that is 16+ would be best so Panini can be the baby for as long as she needs! He would thrive in a chill household with a few people as her inner circle. My favorite things: Long lasting chews Enrichment puzzles Zooming in the hallways Sniffs outside Massages and pets (once we are friends) Any food- she is not picky! Cues that I know: Sit, down Touch Retreat! Recall Relaxation I am an All-Star dog! My adoption appointment includes a discussion with our Training Team, and I will go home with my very own no pull-harness and a few enrichment goodies to help get us off to a good start. To learn more about me or to schedule an appointment to meet me, email info@ahconnects.org (please include your name and phone number), and the staff will be happy to help you! I hope to meet you soon! Our dogs and puppies go home spayed/neutered, microchipped, heartworm tested (6 months and over), and up to date on core vaccines, heartworm, flea, and tick preventatives. Meet Shasta, a stunning Australian Shepherd mix with a high-energy personality that's perfect for an active family. Shasta thrives in an environment where she can be active, so a home with a backyard would be ideal. She loves hiking, long walks, and runs, making her the perfect companion for outdoor adventures. Shasta is eager to learn and very intelligent, showing great potential with training. She's a sweetheart at heart, although she can be a bit jumpy and tends to herd people and small children (due to her breed). While she has a lot of energy, she's also a loving dog who enjoys being petted. Initially a bit nervous with new people, she warms up quickly with patience and kindness. Shasta would do best with a family that enjoys being active and can provide her with the physical and mental stimulation she needs.
