Story
Mazie is a gorgeous 2.5-year-old Australian Cattle Dog (Blue Heeler) mix with a sweet and shy personality. Once she warms up, she is a happy and playful girl who loves romping around with other dogs. Mazie is housetrained, crate trained, and sleeps soundly through the night. She’s still perfecting her leash skills but is making great progress! While she may not be best friends with the resident cat, she tolerates feline friends just fine. With her gentle nature and playful spirit, Mazie is ready to find a loving home where she can continue to shine! When Mazie arrived at Anderson Animal Shelter from their partner shelter in Oklahoma, she tested positive for Heartworm. The staff believes that the best place for Heartworm-positive dogs like Mazie to be during treatment and recovery is with a loving forever family. If you choose to adopt Mazie, the clinic staff will support you every step of the way, answering questions and providing guidance. The treatment process typically lasts about three months and involves simple at-home care to keep Mazie safe while she recovers. A follow-up test will be needed six months after treatment begins to ensure she is Heartworm-free. The good news is that Heartworm treatment is highly successful, and the staff anticipates that Mazie will make a full recovery! Plus, Heartworm is only transmitted through mosquito bites, so there’s no risk of it spreading between pets. Mazie is ready to find her perfect home and get all the love she deserves! For more information, email info@ahconnects.org or call us at 847-697-2880 x: 0, and the staff will be happy to help you. Our dogs and puppies go home spayed/neutered, microchipped, heartworm tested (6 months and over), and up to date on core vaccines, heartworm, flea, and tick preventatives. Their adoption also includes a free-vet exam at one of our participating veterinarians.

Story
Aaron - Male Cattle Dog/Mountain Cur Mix (BREED IS STRICTLY BEST GUESS ONLY) Date of Birth 1/29/24 Current weight 32Lbs Meet Aaron! He is 1 year old, 32 pounds and the definition of a cuddle bug. He is very loyal and smart, and will be easy to train with commands and even agility. He listens when he is told “No”, and comes when called. He is potty trained and knows to use the doggy door bell to let you know he needs to go outside. Aaron really enjoys interactive toys like a wobbler to work for his food/treats. He is shy at first, but once he warms up and gets to know you, he will be your best friend and follow you everywhere… he just loves to be with his people. His snuggles are the best, and he just melts into you. He is house broken, and is working on learning his crate can be an okay place while you’re out of the house. He loves walks and adventures, and would be a great hiking and camping buddy! He also does great in the car! This poor guy spent his whole life in a shelter, until he was transported up here from Alabama. So, a person or family willing to give time to continue his training, and helping him get use to new places and people would be ideal. A fenced in yard where he can run, and play with you and/or be with other dogs would be ideal or an active family ! While he does not love bath time, he will tolerate it with some treats, and just stands there while you scrub him up. He does well with nail trims as well! If you think Aaron is a good fit for you, please fill out an application at: www.foreverhomedogrescueil.org WE DO NOT DO OUT OF STATE ADOPTIONS Thank you for considering the adoption of one of our rescue dogs. We are committed to finding our rescues the perfect home. Together we can make a difference in the life of a dog. The adoption process should be a fun and exciting time for families and dogs. Our goal is to place our babies in forever homes. The potential adopter needs to be dedicated to their care and training for life. Understand that sharing your life with a dog can be a commitment of 15+ years. This would include feeding, exercise, training, vetting, and providing a loving home. Ask yourself, "Am I ready for this type of commitment?" If you are ready, we are here to help. We do have some requirements to help us find the perfect placement of our babies. WE ARE A FOSTER BASED RESCUE ONLY. WE DO NOT HAVE A PHYSICAL BUILDING 1. This will allow others the opportunity to adopt the dog. 2. Adopters MUST be 25 years old. Information on all adults/members living in the home is required We REQUIRE you to provide proof and vet reference that all current and past pets have been kept up to date on all routine medical. 3. Illinois law requires that all of our dogs and puppies be spayed/neutered within 30 days of adoption. Story
Hello world! I’m Indigo! I am a beautiful 2-year-old girl from Texas, and my foster family says I have the most soulful eyes—it's why they gave me my name! I’m having so much fun in my foster home. I love playing with the resident dogs and would be thrilled to have a canine friend of my own in my forever home. I’m a smart and inquisitive girl who enjoys learning new things, playing with my toys and stuffies, and chewing on bones. My absolute favorite activity is running and fetching balls in the yard! I’m fully potty trained and have never chewed on anything I shouldn’t. I’m also very respectful of the other dogs’ space—my foster mom says I’m the perfect houseguest. When I’m not playing, I’m happy to relax, cuddle, or sit right by your side, always ready for the next adventure. I’m looking for a loving family who can help continue building my confidence, teach me new things, and show me that life doesn’t need to be scary. I’m ready to live my best life and share my love with a special family. If you’re looking for a new best friend, I’d love to meet you! Our standard adoption fee is $375 cash or check and $385 credit card ($10 processing fee). . It includes spay/neuter when age appropriate at our participating vets, age appropriate core vaccinations, fecal testing, deworming, flea and tick preventative,1st vet visit at one of our participating vets, and micro-chipping.
