He's an outgoing pup who adores meeting new people and making furry friends. However, Tex prefers to be the sole dog in his household, and he kindly requests a cat-free environment, too! He will also be too much for small children. If there are kids in the home they should be 10 yrs or older. One of Tex's favorite pastimes is going for car rides, his tail wagging with excitement as he embarks on adventures with his beloved humans. Plus, he's mastered the art of crate training, willingly retreating to his cozy den upon command.Although Tex is an active fellow, he's adaptable and could happily reside in an apartment setting as long as he receives ample exercise and mental stimulation. He's hoping to find a home with someone experienced in handling dogs, someone who understands his needs and is ready to embark on this journey with him.Your new pet will require a refresher in house-training. K-9 Lifesavers strongly recommends all new adopters enroll their new pet into obedience training. This provides for an easier transition into a new home, ensures the dog remains well socialized, and helps form a bond between the dog and the new family.           Adoption fees cover basic vetting, spay/neuter surgery (at partner vet if not fixed before adoption), rabies, distemper/parvo vaccinations, treatment for worms, heartworm testing, monthly heartworm prevention and monthly flea/tick prevention (while the animal is in our care), and transport costs from high-kill shelter. Please note that on average, K-9 Lifesavers spend significantly more on each dog than their adoption fee. Adoption fee for HW positive dog also covers heartworm treatment at our partner vets. Foster Program:    Foster homes provide for the temporary care of a rescue until the dog is placed into a loving, forever home.  For more information on becoming a foster parent, and our Foster Program, visit  http://www.k-9lifesavers.org/foster/  or email our Foster Coordinator at  foster@k-9lifesavers.orgSponsor Me!    Make a  tax-deductible donation  today by visiting us at http://www.k-9lifesavers.org/donate/  . Olivia's guardian explains why she has made the difficult decision to rehome her: "Olivia is a very social, active girl who needs 24/7 access to a yard and a home with other dogs.  When I adopted her we (myself and the animal shelter) thought she was a quiet girl who was introverted and didn't need much exercise.  As she has gotten more comfortable and confident it is clear she has A LOT of energy and needs to be around other dogs and activity 24/7.  I have been sending her to daycare 2-3x a week but that is not sufficient and I cannot afford to send her any other days.  I have been in contact with her vet as well as local trainers to no avail." Olivia's guardian offers a brief a medical history:  "She occasionally struggles with incontinence and is currently on Proin." Story
Melody is a one year old Australian Cattle Dog. She's intelligent, athletic, friendly and super sweet. She seeks her human more than anything else but also doesn't show any signs of separation anxiety, fully crate trained. While ACDs in our care have adoption experience restrictions, Melody seems to be more mellow than most ACDs. She's content doing whatever activity that is planned for the day and settles in quickly. She still needs to be engaged and given a job, and more importantly, supervised around children as this breed will herd kids until guided otherwise with positive reinforcement and consistency. Children are usually not recommended unless parents are experienced with the breed or willing to hear them OUCH across the next zip code. Story
This precious girl came from one of the worst hoarding situations that we have ever dealt with. there were over 100 dogs on the property, none of them spayed or neutered. Finally, the authorities went in and they managed to get ALL of the dogs out of there. Filthy dirty situation, sick puppies, you name it. We choose to take Blossom home to our rescue because her eyes were begging us for love and attention. She was very pregnant and two weeks after arriving, she gave birth to 7 heathy puppies! Every single puppy was different, every singe puppy had a different daddy! We think that Blossom had never been paid any attention to because she was so shy. Once we weaned her babies we took her out of the nursery and into the house where she just blossomed! That's how she got her name! Her puppies have long since been adopted and now it's her turn. We actually did a DNA on her and it came back with 4 different breeds, which we kind of figured from the beginning. Australian Cattle Dog, Labrador Retriever, Pit Bull, Boxer. Yes, she is truly a "Mutt!: She is extremely smart and will do anything for a treat. I want her to have a nice fenced yard with lots of room to run. Cattle dogs are working dogs and they need lots of exercise! She is spayed, crate trained, fully vaccinated, microchipped and house broken, truly a gem! Ready for immediate transport. ADOPTION FEE $400 PLEASE NOTE THAT WE ARE LOCATED IN TENNESSEE AND YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO MEET OUR PETS PRIOR TO ADOPTION!
