Story
Meet Greg Duncan!  He is the wiggliest, cutest sweetheart!  He loves people of all ages and will shower you with kisses, and loves to be by your side.  Greg is adventurous exploring his new surroundings, and enjoys having zoomies with his foster sister Grace Stark in the backyard. After a good play session, he loves to curl up at your feet (or in his crate) for a nice long nap, and he happily sleeps through the night in his crate.  He is working on pad training and potty training, and will do very well on a schedule.  Greg loves his food, his tail can't stop wagging when he eats!  He would be great in either a multi-dog household, or as an only pet who would be devoted to you.  Greg is learning to walk with a harness and leash and loves exploring the neighborhood.  He can't wait to meet his forever family - is it you?   Mandatory in person transfer date: August 23rd at the Petsmart in Tysons Corner between 10:00 AM-11:00 AM. All adopters must attend in order to finalize the adoption. ##2138399##

Story
Hi, I'm Grace Stark and I can't wait to meet you!  I'm so happy to be exploring my new surroundings, I love being outside and playing in the grass, getting the zoomies with my foster brother Greg Duncan, and discovering these things called birds and squirrels!  After we romp around the yard or have a play session, I like to plop down for a good long nap - gotta recharge for the next round of kisses and cuddles!  I love people of all ages and happily greet them.  I'm doing so well on my pad training and my potty training, adjusting quickly to my schedule - I've been told I'm pretty smart.  I feel very comfortable in my crate, I'll lay down in it myself for naps and I happily sleep all through the night in it.  I love to play in my water dish after having a long drink, and I like splashing my brother!  I'm learning to walk with a harness and leash too.  I'd be great in either a multi-dog household, or I could be a devoted single pet.  I can't wait to meet my forever family - could it be you? Mandatory in person transfer date: August 23rd at the Petsmart in Tysons Corner between 10:00 AM-11:00 AM. All adopters must attend in order to finalize the adoption. ##2138397##

Grant is a sweet and beautiful puppy. He loves to play with his sister Gabby, loves to be around people, is great with kids and will be a great companion for any family. Grant is a fast learner: he started to respond to his name, he is almost completely potty trained, sleeps all night in a dog play pen, and he is learning to walk on a leash. His activity level is medium and Grant enjoys playing around the yard and splashing his water bowl in this summer heat. Grant has a mellow but playful personality and will make his forever family very happy. Dots and her seven siblings were left at the shelter’s door overnight in a box, no note, no nothing - just left there. And as infuriating as that was you can't help but smile when you see these darling and gorgeous babies! And don't get me started on those ears!!! Dots is the kind of dog who instantly wins your heart. Her soft, soulful eyes tell a story of hope, and her gentle demeanor is a testament to her sweet and trusting nature. She has an incredible ability to make you feel like the most important person in the world, simply by being her affectionate, cuddly self. What Dots wants more than anything is a family to call her own—a place where she can feel secure, loved, and cherished. She’s ready to leave her past behind and start a new chapter filled with belly rubs, playful adventures, and cozy nights by your side. Dots is the kind of dog who will greet you at the door with a wagging tail and bright eyes, eager to share her day with you. She’s not just looking for a home—she’s looking for a forever family, one that will love her as much as she will love them. Could you be the one to give Dots the loving home she’s been dreaming of? She’s ready to fill your life with joy, laughter, and the kind of love that only a dog like Dots can offer. Adopt her today and start your journey of love and companionship together. Dots is 8 weeks old and 3 lbs - we think full grown maybe about 40 lbs. Her breed is also a guess but we think Aussie/Cattle dog mix. She is up to date on her vaccines, dewormings and preventatives. She is also microchipped. Are you ready for Dots? She is ready for you! Her adoption fee is $400. Our adoption application can be found at www.tinyurl.com/adopt-shpr

Story
Meet Blue! We inadvertently found out about Blue’s plight when rescuing another dog. His owner surrendered her small Chihuahua, Pebbles, to us saying that she had allergies and could no longer afford to care for her. When meeting the owner to take Pebbles in, she let our volunteer know she also had a young puppy penned on the property that she needed to surrender. This gorgeous, goofy puppy had been kept in a filthy outdoor pen in this incredible heat. The owner got Blue via her daughter who got him through a friend, likely another example of unplanned puppies being given away to anyone who will take them. He was only 8 weeks old. As he grew and became more work, he ended up relegated to the pen in the backyard. He lived in that terrible situation for the last 2.5 months with no protection from the elements and little room to move. When Blue started escaping his pen and running free in the trailer park, that became a problem for his owner and she decided to surrender him too. That was Blue’s lucky day… We were told that Blue is an Australian Shepherd/Great Pyrenees mix. He looks very Aussie but at 6 months he’s already 43 lbs, so he will be larger than your typical Aussie and . There are 4 larger dogs in his new foster home and he’s quickly assumed the role of cute, fun-loving, and sometimes annoying little brother. We checked in with his foster mom, Laine for an update:   FOSTER MOM UPDATE - 7/17/24 “Blue is a confident, goofy puppy who loves to play and thinks everything is a game…which I like. He’s drop-dead gorgeous and has puppy curiosity and spurts of energy. He goes full blast at times but then likes to nap. He is both housetrained and crate-trained and has started going to the door when he needs to go out. (Good boy Blue!). He also does well on leash. He loves toys, shoes, and ‘ice cookies.’ He’s smart and knows the sound of the ice maker on the frig door and comes running when he hears it. When I’m fixing Kongs, he sits close by my side so he can nudge me and remind me that he’s there waiting for his treat. He curls his front legs in sometimes when he lays down like a cat….I find that adorable. Blue is full of love, joy, and puppy shenanigans. He can be a little annoying to our older dogs when he’s on full blast, but my younger dogs like to play with him. I think he’d be OK as an only dog or as part of a pack. He’s going to grow into a wonderful family dog.” ***** If you are an active family who is ready to add some puppy fun to your life, Blue is your guy!  Apply today!   BREED ESTIMATE: Australian Shepherd (Aussie) Mix GENDER: Male APPROXIMATE WEIGHT: ~ 43 lbs (will be 50-60 lbs fully grown) APPROXIMATE AGE: ~ 6 mos old COAT TYPE: Medium ADOPTION FEE: $425 OTHER INFO: utd on shots/neutered/microchipped LOCATION: Washington DC, NE   FOR MORE INFO OR TO ADOPT: Please go to https://adopt.worthydog.org and complete the application.
