Story
“You can’t resist reading Pointer’s profile  because he is so darn cute, but Pointer isn’t for everyone. Pointer is a Blue Heeler mix, weighing in at less than 30 lbs. Just like bigger herding dogs, Pointer likes to chase, herd, nip heels and is very strong-willed. Pointer needs lots of exercise and must have mental stimulation throughout the day. He enjoys learning commands and working on his obedience commands and would make an excellent agility, nose work, scent work or other sport participant. Pointer is not a couch potato and when left to entertain himself, he can get into trouble. Pointer needs a person who is experienced with herding breeds or dogs who are competitive in sports and are not put off by his strong personality.  With the right person, Pointer can be the ultimate friend!  I would not be a candidate for an apartment, condo/townhome or a home without a fence. If interested in giving me a forever home please complete an application at www.safeanimalhaven.com Australian Cattle Dog/Blue Heeler Characteristics Standing between 17 to 20 inches at the shoulder, the Australian Cattle Dog is a sturdy, hard-muscled herder of strength and agility. The ACD is born with a white coat that turns blue-gray or red. Both coat varieties feature distinctive mottling or specking patterns. ACDs have immense work drive and excel at hunting, chasing, and, of course, moving livestock. Their boundless energy and supple gait make them excellent running partners.ACDs are true-blue loyal, famously smart, ever alert, and wary of strangers. If an ACD isn’t challenged, he easily becomes bored and gets into mischief. It is recommended that ACD owners participate with their dog in some work, sport, or regular exercise to keep him mentally and physically fit.August 17, 2024, 12:06 am

Story
Meet Polly/Precious She is a fun loving girl who is spayed, microchipped, has all of her shots including rabies, and tested negative for heartworms.  She is on prevention for fleas and heartworms. She is 13 years old and weighs about 55 pounds. She will ingest toys and blankets - so this girl has to be watched and isn’t given them.  If you leave it out, this girl will find it - she needs someone that will keep items picked up.  This includes - loose socks, toys or any type of material item. She does not steal food but if it's left out she will help herself to it. She only eats beef or bison...earthborn.   Chicken does not sit well with her a will give her diarrhea, it is better to stay away from food and treats that contains any feathered animal.  all things feathered.  She is a good girl who deserves a second chance at love and a family. Polly gets along with  cats and dogs but she will go after birds and other wildlife. She is house trained  but she is on Proin.  As long as she is on it, she does not have any accidents in the house.  Proin extended release 74 mg cost approximately $39 for a 30 day supply. Story
Critter Cavalry Rescue is trying to help several dogs like Lyla out of a small rural shelter that is cramped and hard on the spirit of the kind of dog like Lyla.  She came to the shelter as an owner surrender forced by the animal control of the shelter.   She and her sister were being crated 24.7 just about and this was negligent and cruel.  She has been in this little shelter for almost 3 months now and her Blue Heeler spirit is just being stifled to get out and have some time to roam a yard, go for a fun run of fetch the ball or just be sleeping on a soft cozy dog bed at your feet.  It is just hard on the spirit when these dogs are stashed away and unnoticed and very little attention except to feed them.  She is 1-2 years old and 38 pounds.  She is mostly Heeler from what we can tell but on the darker side and she is warm and friendly but cautious too because of the confinement she has experienced.  Help us if you love the breed or love rescuing and fostering or even adopting.  She is fully vetted and ready to go!  Email us at  ccrnewengland@gmail.com   It is time to free Lyla! PLEASE NOTE:  Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted.  Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site.  The adoption fees vary and will be provided as well as noted on the application you receive.  Contact us at 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.comAugust 19, 2024, 2:03 pm

Story
Our sweet Red Heeler girl is called Calamity Jane and she is a sharp shooter girl when it comes to being smart, capable to handle herself and cute as a bonus.  She was born the end of May and is currently 7.5 pounds at just 9 weeks of age and expected to be a 4o-45 pound adult dog.  She and her mom and siblings were dropped off at a small town shelter in East Tennessee and Momma was all Red Heeler with stand up ears and dad was missing in action.  Seems that these pups of hers are all taking after Momma in looks and temperament. She is a little taller than her sibling so she may be taller than a typical Red Heeler. If you want to know what she is like then all we can say is that she is super sweet and a huge cuddler! In a perfect world she would be a lap dog 24/7. She appears to be very smart and is a playful girl who is super fast!  She has been great around other dogs. She has not met a person she did not like. Calamity will do best with a family that will help her to gain confidence in her environment by getting her out and about seeing new places and meeting new people. We call it socializing a puppy on a consistent basis and many people forget that they need to do that for a well-rounded adult dog. If you are interested in this pretty, smart and charming Heeler girl please write to Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrnewengland@gmail.com and ask for an application.  Please mention where you live: city and state. Story
Meet Belle Star!  This sweet little Red Heeler mix female puppy came into foster from a small town shelter. Her momma was a Red Heeler and dad is unknown. This little bundle of joy is inquisitive and very smart like all the Heelers are known to be.  Belle was born around the end of May and is currently just 9 weeks old as of 7/29. She is expected to be an average weight of around 40 pounds if she keeps growing at the rate she is now.  Currently she is only 7 pounds at the 9 weeks mark.  She will most likely have the build that is typical of the Heeler breed and we are expecting her ears to slowly start pointing upward like her Mom’s. When talking about her personality we can safely say that Belle Star is super sweet and enjoys attention. She is very playful and confident and has been great around other dogs, cats, and loves every person she meets. Her foster mom is a huge Heeler fan and has had several over the years and has one NOW.  Being a Heeler, she will do best with a family that can keep her busy and perhaps has a fenced yard for safety to run to her heart’s content.  She is a little cutie and is going to be a great dog for a lucky family. With the hot summer heat she has proven herself to be a fan of the kiddie pool and she truly loves to lounge for quite a while…of course with her sun screen on for safety.  She is ready for a new home NOW.  If you are interested, please contact Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrnewengland@gmail.com   PLEASE NOTE:  Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted.  Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site.  The adoption fees vary and will be provided as well as noted on the application you receive.  Contact us at 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.comAugust 19, 2024, 2:03 pm
