If you take your Whiskey cute, your Heelers blue, and your dogs from shelters, this girl will be sweet for you! (Isn't that what Hozier says in that song that's all over the internet?) Whiskey is a shy little lady, who did not enjoy the chaotic shelter environment. She's currently relaxing in a foster home with a couple of other cattle dogs, who she tolerates. She does seem to be warming up to them and is more interested in interacting with them after almost a week. She previously lived with another dog, but the previous guardians said she was more relaxed when her littermate wasn't around. Whiskey didn't meet many other dogs in the previous home. She really enjoys playing ball and if a familiar dog is also playing ball at the same time, that's okay with her. She loves to go on walks. If another person is walking a familiar dog next to her, she's fine with that too. Walks with her are relaxing: She doesn't pull. She walks past unfamiliar dogs just fine. She'll chase all those pesky flies away from you while you hang out on the patio together. Whiskey just loves to be near you, lying at your feet. She is grateful for some scratches and massages when you have time. She closes her eyes and melts when you pet her. Once you've earned your rightful place in the Cattle Dog inner circle, you'll always have Whiskey by your side, watching over you and loving you as hard as she can. The first word that comes to mind when you see me is regal, being poised in my stature, walk and behavior, but you might catch me playfully hopping with my dog buddies.When we first meet I need a moment to stand back to check you out just to determine if you're friend or foe, but don't worry...I'm a love bug after I've made my decision and see that you are worthy. I get along great with the dogs in my foster house, and I am great with kids. (Sorry, I don't like cats though.) I prefer not to bark (even when others are) as I am too well-mannered, but I have a wonderful deep bark if needed. I already know how to use a doggy door and am completely trained to do my business outside. Unlike some of my herding friends, I'm not hyperactive. I do need room and time to exercise (wait till you see how good I am on a leash!) but I also enjoy a nice nap at your side. I might nudge you with my nose if I feel you're ignoring me, but you'll think it's super cute. Don't fret, this regal boy doesn't require a throne...just a home and family where I can show you what a perfect dog I am to love and to love you.Dogs are not placed on a first-come, first-serve basis. Frankie is a 10 month old dog, and is a shepherd and cattle dog mix of some sort. Frankie came to us as a medical rescue off a reservation, with horrible lacerations on one leg. He has now healed up beautifully and is hoping to find his forever home! Since he was a feral dog, he is very timid and lots of things scare him easily. While he is comfortable and does extremely well in his foster home, he will need a family that can be patient helping him learn basic commands, how to walk on a leash, and how to ride in a car. Frankie is one of the sweetest dogs, and loves to cuddle and follow his people around his house. He loves to play with toys, chew on bones, and lounge in a soft doggy bed or on the couch. He does happy dances at meal times, and loves butt scratches. He is house and crate trained. Frankie will ABSOLUTELY need to have a fenced in yard and another dog in the home that he can play with that will help him gain confidence in his new home.
