Story
Name: Moonlight MarvaAge: 5 yrs old approxWeight: 15 lbsBackground:Meet Moonlight Marva, a resilient and joyful pup with a heart full of love! Marva was found as a stray in rural Tennessee, bravely dragging herself around despite her severe condition. After X-rays revealed severe bone infections spreading to her hips, it was clear her legs couldn't be saved. However, this courageous girl wasn’t using her legs anyway, so they were removed, and she has adapted wonderfully.Personality:Marva is a true testament to resilience. Despite her past, she’s a bundle of joy and adorable. Her cheerful disposition is contagious, and she’s always happy to be alive and surrounded by loving people.Special Care:Marva does require some assistance due to her special needs:Urinating: She needs help with urination, which involves expressing her bladder. This is a simple task, especially given her small size.Bowel Movements: While Marva can defecate on her own, she lacks control. However, maintaining a regular schedule and a high-quality diet makes this easy to manage. Why Marva is Special:Don’t let her special needs deter you. Marva is capable of doing almost everything other dogs can do; she just needs a little extra help. She’s a shining example of perseverance and will bring immense joy to any home willing to give her the love and care she deserves.Considerations:Marva’s condition requires a compassionate and dedicated owner who can commit to her care routine. In return, you’ll get a loyal and loving companion who will fill your life with joy and gratitude.Adopt Moonlight Marva:If you’re looking for a dog who embodies the spirit of overcoming adversity and can offer endless love, look no further than Moonlight Marva. Give this special girl the forever home she deserves; she’ll reward you with unconditional love and happiness.Name: Moonlight MarvaBreed: Mini Australian Shepherd / perhaps Corgi MixSex: FemaleSpayed/Neutered: YesVaccinations: Up to dateHeartworm: Negative on recent testingMicrochipped: YesBASED ON OUR OBSERVATIONS:Good with Children: YesGood with Dogs: YesGood with Cats: YesLocation of dog currently: Nashville TN IMPORTANT INFORMATION - Paws New England is a foster-based rescue. Story
Dot and Dingle were born while in rescue to a foster in Memphis, who rescued Mama and several other dogs from a hoarding situation—dogs were everywhere, running around, uncared for.Mom gave birth, and the other siblings were born without the recessive gene, causing hearing loss/deafness and reduced sight/blindness. These two pups are happy little things and won't know they are any different - they make unique 4-legged friends that will make you wonder every day how they can do what they do.What is a Double Merle:Double Merle pups are born when both of the parents are merle. It doesn't matter what color merle, how much merle the parents have, how little (or how much) white trim, what breed they are, or even that the parents are the same breed. Statistically, 25% of the pups from two merle parents will be Double Merles. The Merle gene causes pets to have multicolored coats and striking blue eyes. Having the Merle gene is great, but it becomes problematic when two dogs with that gene are paired. Birth defects in litters can happen when two dogs with this gene are bred, hence double Merle breeding.Temperament:Double merles are generally relatively healthy dogs capable of living long, otherwise everyday lives despite their deficiencies. They are no more aggressive, unpredictable, or untrainable than hearing and sighted dogs.Superb information here: https://www.lethalwhites.com/doublemerle.htmlThese babies will require some additional care and training and are a lot of fun to work with doing just that - there is a lot of support information online. You'll need prior experience if you're willing to work with them as needed.Name: Dot and Dingle (do not need to be adopted together)Breed: Australian ShepherdSex: Male (Dingle)Age: 8 weeks as of 7/17/2024Weight: 0.0Spayed/Neutered: Too young - Spay/Neuter Contract will be required and strictly enforced.Vaccinations: Puppy vaccines will be up to date. We can provide a list of low-cost SN clinics to adopters when requested. The adoption fee also includes the transport fee.ATTENTION PUPPY ADOPTERS:  You must attend training/behavior classes with your new dog unless you are an experienced dog owner and your adoption coordinator is comfortable with your experience.  This requirement is for the benefit of you and your puppy, so if you experience behavior issues, you have a point of contact.  PLEASE—Think long and hard before adopting a puppy. Consider the lifestyle change this puppy will come with. He cannot be crated for more than 3-4 hours at a time until he's older. Puppy-proofing your home will be necessary. Puppies scratch and nip, so if you have small children, can they handle this? Training will be so important in this puppy's life. Story
Courtesy Post: Owner Surrender/Rehoming- Hopkinton, MA Meet Dingo! He is an 10 year old Miniature American Shepherd and weighs 18 lbs. He is neutered, microchipped, up to date on shots, and on heartworm prevention. Dingo is nervous around strangers! He hasn’t been tested around older children. No cats, dogs or younger children, due to his reactivity! Dingo nipped a dog sitter who tried to take his food away (he resource guards high value food). He also nipped a grandparent after he growled at the owner’s baby and the grandparent grabbed his collar to pull him away. Dingo had a TPLO on his left leg and some arthritis, so he is sensitive around his knees. He is currently on fluoxetine for his anxiety. Dingo is given an omega and glucosamine supplement. He is also on a course of doxycycline for a recent positive anaplasma test. The owner is surrendering him because he nipped two people. His reactivity has increased and the owner has younger children. He needs to find a new furever home as soon as possible! If you think you can provide a great home for Dingo, please contact the owner listed below. There is a $150 rehoming fee to assure good folks with good intentions. This fee will be donated to Australian Shepherds Furever for their assistance in placing Dingo. Owner’s Contact Information: Michael at mikejg23@gmail.com.

Story
Sage and Willow Born January 29th 2019 They were rescued as 8 week old puppies by my mother, she couldn’t pick just one so she took both. My mother has recently passed away suddenly and we are in desperate need of someone to take them. My brother tried, but he has a cat and their herding instinct was just too strong. I am able to keep them until the beginning of September, however after that, I have to sell the house and they will have no where to go. They are very gentle, smart, easy to train good girls. Willow has long white socks and loves her food, she’s a little shy of men and male dogs at first, but warms up fairly quick. She is very low maintenance and prefers to just be hugged and sit around. She gets nervous if her sister tries to play with her. Sage is a skinny weirdo, she loves to play, but not too much. She too is shy of new people at first but will warm up quickly. She has a sensitive stomach and has done very well on Wellness core food. I hope they can find a new home.
