Story
Besides being a handsome dude with freckles on his nose, this is one fine dog! Milo is a one to two year-old 60 pound boxer mix that was surrendered to the Mesquite Animal Shelter through no fault of his own. He was found by a trucker that realized he couldn’t keep him because of his lifestyle. Milo needs someone that has time to love on him and in return Milo his loads of love to lavish on you and your family! He also needs someone to play with him. He responds to his name and comes when you call him. He sits for treats and takes them relatively gently. The surrender form stated that he was both an inside/outside dog and that he was good with dogs and children but not with cats. He’s happy, friendly, energetic, playful, and alert. The surrender form also said he was good with other dogs, and I also noticed that he didn’t have a problem going through the bay. He walks well on a leash. Milo is patiently waiting for you.

Story
We adopted Marley when she was just a tiny puppy. Now, she’s a whopping 9 years old! I wouldn’t recommend her to families with young children, though. She can be a bit rough around the edges with toddlers. She’s never actually attacked anyone, but she does get a bit impatient with them. In her free time, she loves to lounge around. As she’s gotten older, she occasionally has accidents when she’s lying down, but she’s still house-trained. Unfortunately, we’re moving and won’t be able to take her with us.

Story
Hi, I'm Diamond! I was a cast off mama dog. I was abandoned by my owner and left with his parents. They didn't want me either. I was alone and pregnant. I gave birth to my 9 babies under an abandoned trailer. One of my babies died before I could get help and one had fallen into a hole under the trailer and had an injured leg. Some nice people came and rescued me as the people who owned the property were going to kill me and my babies. I was soooo glad to be rescued though I was not very trusting in people at this point. They took me and my puppies to a safe place and we were warm and had plenty of food. My injured baby was taken to a vet and treated. Now my puppies are on their way to new homes and I am going to get fixed! No more pups for me! I am a sweet girl, once I get to know you I can really wiggle my butt and give you kisses. I like other dogs too. I would be a good girl for you and I am getting some training on leash walking and learning commands. Please put in an application for me. I am ready for a new start in life! PS--I got my name because I have a white diamond shape on the back of my neck and because I'm precious as Diamonds!

Story
We found Rose in the middle of the street and my wife stopped to get her. We discovered that she was chipped but the original owners did not want her back which is fine as she showed behavioral signs of being hit in the past. Rose is high energy but a fantastic cuddler when things settle down. She prefers to cuddle when sleeping and absolutely loves naps and bedtime. She also is a live wire during the day playing with her toys and running around the yard. Rose is full of life but unfortunately she was the 4th addition to our family and we cannot sustain her situation. Due to her high energy Rose is likely not suitable to an apartment unless she is able to be exercised daily. She does not like being cooped up and did not do well when we tried to crate her. She has moderate separation anxiety so please keep that in mind if you are considering her for your family. We have plenty of pictures so please reach out if you would like more!

Story
Reese is a very good girl! She is sweet and affectionate but needs lots of walks and stimulation. She is bored easily, which leads to destructive behavior. She is potty-trained and knows how to tell you when she needs to go. She likes to find a more secluded place and return to that place each time. She sleeps through the night and is comfortable inside and outside her crate. She is still very young and needs additional training. She is very shy around other dogs and becomes paralyzed just seeing them. It can make for very long walks if you are in a dog-friendly neighborhood. She knows the commands sit and come but has yet to master any additional commands. Ideally, she goes to a home with a yard to nap and play during the day. She likes napping in the sun on the patio, but unfortunately, we don't have a yard to play in. She does not do well with cats, and I would recommend that she be the only pet in the house, at least initially. She has a crate, bed, toys, etc., to accompany her.

Story
Meet Blue! He is about 8 years old and is a great dog. We think is is likely a mix of boxer and German Shepard. He is very unique in that he has one blue eye and one brown eye. He is very loving. He is athletic and loves to play with balls and toys but is also perfectly fine being lazy and cuddling! He is great on a leash for walking or on a run. Our family circumstances have changed and we are looking for a loving home for Blue.

Story
Let me introduce you to my newest doggie friend Raleigh, an American Staffordshire Terrier/American Pit Bull mix came in on 4/5 as a stray to the Mesquite Animal Shelter. He weighs 50lbs, is 1 year old and is neutered. He has the most beautiful coloring—a golden/auburn colored coat and with gorgeous golden eyes. He is docile, timid, and shy, and still a bit cautiously friendly He has come so far in such a short time, that he will continue to learn to trust, relax and warm up. He does walk well on a leash. He does like treats and takes them politely. And he even gives kisses when he warms up to a new human friend. Raleigh will undoubtedly make some person or family a devoted and loyal pet. With lots of TLC shown him and an inside life with his people in order to bond. Won’t you please give this sweet boy a second chance at a forever home in which he will be given the loving care he deserves

Story
Tanner is a 3yr old 49 lb Staffordshire pit that arrived at the Mesquite Animal Shelter on 4/12. If he looks worried in some of these pictures, he most likely is. He wants and deserves adopters that will cherish him. He has a lot of love to give. When I sat down, he immediately came to me to put his head on my lap. Actually at one point he put his paws up on my lap. He gives kisses. He is so affectionate. He does sit for treats. He takes the treats relatively gently considering how hungry he must be. He’s very sweet, affectionate, calm, gentle, and alert. He walks OK on a leash. He did his business in the yard. He didn’t have a problem meeting other dogs. I did not see any aggression. He wants to be an inside dog. He likes to watch television. He particularly likes Animal Planet but if you’re a a Rangers fan, he’ll be a Rangers fan. He just wants to be part of a new family.
