Story
Gilbert (AKA Gitta) needs a NEW, loving home because her beloved owner died in December 2024 (Hospice Cat). Gitta was greatly loved even though she is quite persnickety. She is loving, but does not like to be touched or picked up unless she really trusts you. She loves treats and loves to be brushed with a *special* brush. She purrs when happy and content. Gitta is 14-YO but is young at heart. She loves to play, loves catnip and loves treats. However, she has a very sensitive digestive system and only can tolerate a few snacks per day. She has a thyroid condition and is on medicine twice a day for it and has special ScienceDiet food for her delicate system that we easily procure from Chewy. We will provide her daily food, treats & medicine for her loving adopter. Gitta needs a special home where she will be loved and tolerated and she loves the company of other people...even if at a distance-until she knows and trusts you. My mother loved her to bits. Please help her!

Story
Mia is a lovely 4 year old tabby/tortie cat adopted from a shelter. She loves her kitty climbing tower, sitting in the sun, and watching the birds. She need love and attention we do not have the time to give her right now. Willing to rehome her with all her belongings. She is house trained and scratches her tower. A good home would be one that is calm with not a lot of noise. She like to sleep at the end of the bed and will cuddle/purr. She like being pet on her head. We have young children, that have special needs, and they do not understand not to startle the cat. She is anxious because of our children and she had temporary medication that seems to help but is not a long term solution. We have her in the basement most of the day. Please consider dear Mia for your new pet. She is a sweet cat that needs a better home.

Beard: I will need a VERY patient, cat-savvy adopter who can read my body language and give me time to blossom into my true personality. Expectations should be set that it is unknown how long it will take for me to adapt (possibly weeks to months) and I might never become super social, but more of a roommate. I will be ideal for a gentle, quiet adopter looking to help out a cat, but one who has low expectations for who I am, and what I might become. It is not known what I will be like in a home environment. I came from an overcrowded home with lots of other cats. I have been using my litter box consistently here at the shelter, but my adopter needs to provide me with a slow litter box introduction since it is unclear what my litter box habits were in my previous home. It is recommended that I be set up in my own space (an extra bedroom or bathroom) a space that people or pets will not use unless going in to clean or feed. This will allow for protected contact along with providing a safe space for me. I should be left alone initially as I adjust. This space should include plenty of hiding places, ideally with access to a vertical surface such as a cat tree or a cat-proofed shelf. I can gradually be given more access to the home when I am confidently moving about my environment with relaxed body language when my adopter visits me in my room. In my previous home there were multiple cats, but we do not know how we interacted with one another. I should not be introduced to existing pets in my new home until I have had a chance to adjust to my new environment on my own. Compatibility:Cats: YES!!! It would be best to go to a home with a confident feline friend that I can bond with and who can show me the ropes. I am most likely going to be a `cat`s cat` versus a `people`s cat`.Dogs: No history possibly if mellow and cat-savvyKids: Older, quiet, cat-savvy The shelter is open Tuesday through Sunday from noon 4:30pm, with no appointment needed to meet available cats.

Story
Graygi: I am a friendly, playful young guy. I am also a FLUTD cat. Feline lower urinary tract disease (FLUTD) describes a collection of conditions that can affect the bladder and urethra of cats. Cats with FLUTD usually have episodes of straining and discomfort when urinating, increased frequency of urination, and blood in the urine. Sometimes these symptoms can be caused by a urinary tract infection or bladder stones, but most commonly a cause is not identified. Stress can be a factor in these episodes and cats with this condition should be monitored closely in the period of adjustment after adoption. Urethral obstruction (when a cat is unable to urinate) is a potentially life-threatening condition and can be the most serious complication of FLUTD. The shelter cannot provide management of this condition after adoption, and it is recommended that the adopter promptly establish care with a primary veterinarian for ongoing management of this condition. We recommend having multiple litter boxes in the home, using unscented clumping litter, scooping the boxes at least daily, and feeding a canned food diet.I had a borderline increase of protein loss in my urine (UPC). This can be due to being intact or have other reasons. It is recommended to recheck a urine protein creatinine ration in 4-6 months at your regular veterinarian. Be sure to stop by to meet me and speak with the Matchmakers in Cat Adoption about me ... they know me and can tell you everything you should know about me! Compatibility:Dogs: No history - possibly with a slow introductionCats: Possibly, with additional litter boxesKids: No history - possibly

Story
Raylan: I am a calm, mellow cat who usually keeps to myself, and I am a social guy, but on my own terms. I like to be near people but I do not always enjoy petting. I have good history living with a cat, and I have good litter box manners! I can be nervous of strangers and I hide until comfortable. My adopters should be willing to start me in a small quiet space and gradually open up my world as I settle in at my own pace. I would prefer a quiet, adult-only home. I will need a a very slow introduction to my new home. Expectations should be kept very low at first and that I am going to need time (weeks to a month or more) to show more of my true personality. Based on history in my last home, it is expected that I may always be a bit skittish with new people, so a low-traffic, quiet home will be best for me. I will do best with the people within my bubble (after time), but I probably wont be the type of cat to go up and greet visitors. I have the potential to be a sweet, gentle companion with a very cat-savvy adopter who is willing to put in the extra effort to help me come out of my shell. I would be ideal for a gentle, quiet adopter looking to help out a cat, but one who has low expectations for who I am and what I might become. A `let me be who I am` type of person. It cannot be stressed enough that I need to be allowed to adapt at my own pace, and that I am who I am and I need a patient, understanding person that wont push or expect me to be anything other than who I am. Staff is available to answer questions on how to help me adjust at home! Compatibility:Dogs: No history - possibly with a slow introduction Cats: Yes please! Would enjoy having a calm, quiet cat friend to help him settle in.Kids: No thanks The shelter is open Tuesday through Sunday from noon - 4:30 pm, with no appointment needed to meet available cats.
