Story
SUNSHINE is FIV+.  This means she has a compromised immune system.  She can live just fine with other cats, without concern that they will get it as long as they get along and there are no deep bite wounds causing major trauma....which shouldn't be a problem since Sunshine likes other cats.  She should live indoors only because being outside would expose her to unnecessary disease and illness.  She can live a full, long life, but it will be important to have her seen by her vet at early signs of illness due to the compromised immune system.  Sunshine was a young, outside cat prior to coming to Mountain Pet Rescue with her 1-day-old kittens.  She was very frightened the first 24-48 hours....then she discovered how awesome her foster family's touch was and she melted.  As she got more comfortable in her space, she was eager for her foster family to come into the foster room each day so she could soak up all the attention she could get.  While anxious about quick movements, she will seek out attention once she is comfortable.  She likes rubs here, rubs there and rubs everywhere, even her tummy.  She also makes some pretty great biscuits while she is enjoying the attention.  She wants to give you nose bumps, but tends to want to take the lead there and gets anxious if you try to give her a kiss on the head when she isn't expecting it.  Then she scoots backwards out of the way.  She gets anxious about being held, but her foster mom got her up to 30 seconds at a time before she wiggled down.  She started climbing onto her foster mom's lap too, but hadn't yet decided laying in the lap was perfect.  I do think she was getting closer though.  To meet Sunshine, complete our adoption application and an adoption counselor will call you to schedule a meet and greet with this sweet girl!  All cats are spayed/neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccines, microchipped, FELV/FIV tested, dewormer and started on monthly flea preventative. All Mountain Pet Rescue (Asheville) animals are up-to-date on vaccinations, spayed/neutered and micro-chipped before adoption. Story
Fanta is a golden girl who is slowly adjusting from her outdoor stray lifestyle. She will probably initially hide and cry, and food won't motivate her, but when she starts to adjust she wants attention & petting. She will sit on your lap for petting if you pick her up. Definitely a talkative cat like her (maybe) sister Marley.  Fanta and Marley get along well; we haven't had a chance to test Fanta  with other pets.  She hid for the first few days in her foster home, but by day 4 she was out and about.   Fanta is a shy girl who will hide if allowed as her first inclination in a new situation.  She would do best starting out in a small space (like a bathroom) without hiding places for a few days until she gets to know you a bit.  Otherwise, you may not see her for awhile.Fanta and Marley (maybe her sister) are friendly strays that someone decided deserved families rather than living outside, wondering where their next meal was coming from.  Meet them both at PetSmart, Bleachery Blvd, during our weekly adoption event from 12-4pm.  All cats are spayed/neutered, current on age appropriate vaccines, microchipped, FELV/FIV tested, dewormed and started on monthly flea preventative.   All Mountain Pet Rescue (Asheville) animals are up-to-date on vaccinations, spayed/neutered and micro-chipped before adoption. Story
Marley is the ultimate companion cat! She had an adjustment period of about 1 hour. She won't hide. She's comfortable moving around anywhere in your home & loves people. With other cats, she's not aggressive & will pretty much ignore any hissing or unfriendly behavior if no attack is made towards her.She is an outgoing, active, talkative girl.  Strong & quite fearless, she loves to play. If you have a wand toy, she will chase it for as long as you are willing to engage. And she has a meow for almost everything - when she wants something, if she's chasing a toy, & if you confine her to a room, she'll meow for about 5 minutes, stop & then start again later to let you know she's still waiting for company.  She eats any kind of cat food & likes petting, but isn't particularly motivated by either. She hasn't been lap sitting yet (after 4 days in my home) but does sprawl out on the couch next to me to rest & purr. Marley is a great cat for an active household, but can adapt to whatever you have to offer.  Marley and Fanta (maybe her sister) are friendly strays that someone decided deserved families rather than living outside, wondering where their next meal was coming from.
