Story
Meet Mercy, the youngest senior tuxie in the Northeast! She's playful, curious, and quite energetic for an 11-year-old cat. She likes to chase spring toys, foil balls, and toy mice, but nothing gets her running faster than her favorite crunchy treat tossed across the room. She also enjoys "killing" a good feather toy. She has a great appetite, eats wet food and kibble, and looks forward to her three meals a day. Mercy requires an understanding adopter with a strong knowledge of and respect for cat behavior and their unique body language. Because she was declawed and mishandled when she was young, she can get overstimulated more quickly than most cats. She needs someone who wants her despite being declawed, not because she's declawed. Her ideal home is a calm, quiet environment without children, where she is the only pet in the household for the rest of her life. Building a meaningful relationship with Mercy will take some time and understanding, but the reward is highly gratifying. Her foster mom has a great relationship with her because she listens to Mercy and lets her decide when she wants to be touched and when she needs to be left alone. She thrives on a consistent routine and uses the litter box perfectly. She will go to her forever home with all her things- litter box, carrier, cat bed, and her most prized possession- her brush. Her sweet side is heartwarming- she enjoys daily snuggle sessions with her foster mom. She is a great work companion and will sit beside you quietly, enjoying your company. She is spayed, microchipped, FIV/FeLV negative, and current on vaccines. If you want to give Mercy the loving home she deserves, please fill out an application at queencitycatsvt.org/adopt.

Story
Mr. Spats (aka Spatz) is a shy, but oh-so handsome, good boy. You might not see a lot of him at first, but with the right treats and gentle attention, he will slowly emerge from his hiding spot. He will approach with caution until you earn his trust. He loves catnip, which is great enrichment for him. Luckily he likes to be brushed since grooming should be part of his daily routine. You might find what his foster family lovingly calls "Spatz balls" of hair around the house, which helps when trying to find his hiding spots. He would do best in a home with patient and present adults who are willing to work with Spatz until he feels comfortable. This sweet boy has had a rough couple of years and is ready to settle into his forever home. He does well with other cats. If you're interested in meeting Spatz, complete an adoption application at queencitycatsvt.org/adopt.

Story
Tristan (i.e. melancholy, sad) earned his name because he looked sad when he came to us. He didn't fare well outside. Now that he's safe and his wounds are healed, he has really perked up. This big boy is a very food-motivated! He likes to spend time with his person and be petted and brushed. He is good at communicating his boundaries so he needs someone patient who will listen to him. This lover boy would likely do best in a home with people familiar with cats and their body language; a home without young children would be best. In his foster home he was quite skittish and fearful at first, but he has warmed up very quickly. He loves catnip and catnip toys! Tristan is eager to find his new family! Needs special attention, Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Maverick is a good boy! He was once owned but had survived on the streets for many months before he was rescued, neutered, and vaccinated. Unfortunately, he tested positive for FIV. But he can still have a very long, normal life as long as he is kept indoors only. Mav was cautious of his foster humans at first but he has settled in quite nicely. He uses the litter box like a champ, destroys catnip toys and likes to be brushed. He has a sweet personality that still seems to be emerging as time goes on and trust continues to build. He is a bit frightened of the gentle dog in his foster home so he will appreciate a dog-free household. He has not encountered other cats in his foster home, but he might do well with a cat-friendly cat with a slow and thoughtful introduction. If you want to meet this gorgeous boy, complete an adoption application at queencitycatsvt.org.

Story
Cash... Cashy Cash... Casheroonie... Or just call this boy handsome! Cash was humanely trapped right before a large snowstorm after a rural homeowner reached out to Queen City Cats seeking help for him. Cash was badly injured and scared from his time outdoors. Step by step, we got him the care he needed and he started to feel so much better - care and pain medication for his injuries, neutered and all his shots, and getting his broken tooth removed. Once his tooth was removed, within 24 hours he was a new man! He finally started to play and show interest in human interaction. Cash has shown calm, playful interest in other cats as well. His sweet chirps to the resident cats tell us that he might like a cat friend in his forever home. Cash even seems intrigued by the foster's calm dog, although they have not met face-to-face. He is now very playful, both on his own and with his person. He likes a variety of toys - balls, toy mice, the laser, etc. He uses a cat tree for climbing, scratching, and playing. He uses his litter box like a rockstar and he even likes to be brushed. He has a healthy appetite for wet food, dry food, cat treats; this cutie pie is not picky. (But be careful to not overfeed him!) Cash went from a shy, scared cat to a cat who now seeks out human attention- a total 180! If you're interested in meeting this wonder boy, complete an adoption application at queencitycatsvt.org.

Story
Sansa is the sweetest kitty. She was recently rescued from outside after her family lost their home. She clearly wants to be an indoor kitty again. She had lived with several other cats, but some scars indicate she might have been bullied by them. She is extremely outgoing with her human companions and loves to be right in the center of the action. At first, she will find a secure hiding spot away from everyone, but with some gentle persistence, she will be purring and loving you in no time. She is not sensitive to noise after she is comfortable. Sansa would do best in a home where she is able to get a lot of attention, not with someone who is gone most of the time. She would probably be fine with other gentle cats if given a proper introduction, but for now, she growls and gets scared of them. (She saw her reflection.) She is a super engaging and friendly kitty. If you're interested in meeting Sansa, complete an adoption application at queencitycatsvt.org.
