Story
Rocko is a 3-year-old Chihuahua weighing approximately 10 pounds. His owner was moving and unable to bring him. She said he was fearful and unsocialized. He would frequently hide from them. He has improved greatly with us, but he still is not totally trusting. He will need someone who will take it slow with him and be patient. He may snap and try to nip until he gets to know you and trust you. We think he will be best for someone with a fenced yard. He likes to walk on a leash but it's best to get to know him in a fenced yard then leashing him will be more comfortable for everyone. He has bonded with our rescue manager. It just takes him a little time. If you are tender-hearted and can go slow, please come meet this boy a few times. He will be worth the wait. He tends to attach to one person and they can do no wrong in his eyes. He is affectionate but when he has enough, he will let you know. He has to be the only pet. His adoption donation is $150 which includes his neuter, vaccinations, microchip. He is heartworm negative and on monthly prevention. He will blossom into a lovable, friendly boy so please give him a chance We are only able to adopt within the state of Florida. Story
Prince is a 6-year-old Chihuahua mix weighing approximately 15 pounds.  He has been with us for over 2 years.  He was so scared and unsocialized when we first got him.  He was living in a barn with no human contact.  He has come a long way and we feel he would benefit greatly from a foster home. He doesn’t like to be confined and will bark and growl at you when you close the gate to his room. He still doesn’t trust people but he has improved greatly.  We’re hoping he will blossom in a foster home.  Please help him to become the “Prince Charming” he’s meant to be. We are only able to adopt within the state of Florida. We have a page on our website that explains our adoption process, and contains a link to our adoption application. Story
Barney and Boo are bonded Chihuahua mix brothers. Barney is 6 years old and weighs 11 pounds. Boo is also 6 years old and weighs almost 2 pounds! We had a complete workup on him from our vet and there are some crystals in his urine so he is on special food. Aside from that he got a clean bill of health and is cleared for adoption. We did notice that Barney eats all the food so we are separating them for feeding. They are from the same litter so it may be a genetic anomaly with Boo. I have a dog just like him and he’s perfectly healthy but so skinny and eats like crazy as does Boo. They are friendly, lovable and happy. They do get along with other dogs but prefer to be by themselves. They have not been cat or child-tested. The adoption donation for the pair is $600 which includes their neuter, vaccinations, microchip. They are heartworm negative and on monthly prevention. They must be adopted together so please come to meet this unique duo! We are only able to adopt within the state of Florida. We have a page on our website that explains our adoption process, and contains a link to our adoption application. My wife had Prince since he was a couple of months (he's now 12 years old). He's playful and has a lot of energy. The only reason why we want to rehome him is because we have 2 babies and it has become overwhelming for us.

Story
Apollo is 15lbs, a weird mix of breeds I couldn’t even begin to describe, and a sweetheart. He is 8 years old and has been with me since he was a puppy. He loves sun bathing, long walks, and tug of war. He is great with kids (I have 2 toddlers that he has been around since they were born) he has lived with another dog in the past but that was many years ago so I’m not sure how he would do with other dogs now. Sadly my family has to make a big move this year and it just isn’t practical for him to come with us.

Story
Butterscotch is a sweet puppy. She is 4 years old. She needs lots of love and attention. I am having a baby and unfortunately not able to keep her. She is scared of other dogs at first but once she gets to know them she is fine. Loves to cuddle. She is pad trained but will go outside. Does not like grass. Good either kids. She is very scary so lots of love is needed. You can have all her toys, leash, and cage. I will be screening, I want her to go to a loving family.

Story
Apply to Adopt Me! Meet 6 lb, 6-7 yo Peanut, a sassy, independent, adventurous Chihuahua who likes to have it her way. Her attitude has improved after surgery to remove her painful eyes, but she will still need patience and time to trust in her new home because first meets with strangers are difficult for her and she will be reactive. She just needs someone to give her the chance to get to know them, and know that they won't hurt her. She will then give you her heart. She is house broken, crate trained and sleeps through the night in her bed. Peanut tested positive for heart worm in September, but has been on a protocol since then, so we’re hoping she will be given the all clear soon. She mostly ignores other dogs unless confronted with an in-your-face type dog, will voice her dislikes, but gives a warning bark to unfamiliar voices or noises. If you are on the look out for a watch dog, she’s your gal. Her hearing is excellent. Peanut is a good car rider. She navigates well inside the house to her beds, crate, the kitchen for treats, the water bowl, and will put herself to bed. Her most favorite place is outdoors exploring, sniffing, listening to sounds and protests if her peace is disturbed; a fenced yard would allow her to roam freely and is required for her. She will also tolerate being on a leash. Our girl is food aggressive as a result of being found dumped, starving and alone on a country road, severely underweight at just 3 lbs. Her foster mom puts her food down and walks away, giving her space. Peanut seems to prefer females, but just may warm up to a special guy who is well versed in Chi and their idiosyncrasies. While not a cuddler, she will approach for attention, a neck rub and, perhaps to join you on the couch under strict supervision because she will walk right off the edge if not stopped. Peanut may be best in a home as an only dog, would be okay with cats, but not with small children. We are adopting her to an all-adult home only. Peanut is heart worm positive at this time, and is on the slow kill method, which we can explain that process to any interested applicant. She can enjoy regular activities. Heart worm disease is contracted from an infected mosquito and can not be transmitted to another dog. If you think you have the perfect forever home for Peanut and her little quirks due to her sight limitations, please complete her app and tell us more about you. January 9, 2025, 8:50 pm

Story
Apply to Adopt Me! Meet Shelly - she is 7 months old and currently weighs around 15lbs. Shelly came to us with her momma Maggie (who found her forever home) and two siblings. She is very sweet, as well as calm and observant. Shelly is playful and friendly, but as much as she loves to play, she will never turn down a good snuggle.  She loves to chew on toys, wrestle with her siblings as well as explore the great outdoors in the yard.  Shelly doesn't seem to mind water and does well at bath time. She seems to be a big fan of children and meeting new people but like most puppies she tends to be mouthy and loves to chew, so she must always be supervised, especially with small children. She does well sleeping through the night in a puppy pen with her siblings. Potty training is a work in progress. She will use potty pads if not brought outside in time but definitely knows outside is meant for potty. Maggie, Shelly's mom, was a petite chihuahua mix. We don't know who her dad is but most likely some type of hound, cur or terrier. We anticipate she will be small/medium sized but can't be certain. Like all puppies she will need to have potty breaks every 2-3 hours and to continue her socialization with people and other dogs. Obedience training is highly recommended. A fenced yard is also important so Shelly can run around and burn off puppy energy. If you live in the Central Florida/Orlando area and believe your family has the time, energy and love to devote to raising an active puppy, please send in an application and let us know more about your family.
