Story
Apply to Adopt Me! Meet 6 lb, 7yo Peanut, a sassy, independent, adventurous Chihuahua who likes to have it her way. Her attitude has improved after surgery to remove her painful eyes, but she will still need patience and time to trust in her new home because first meets with strangers are difficult for her and she will be reactive. She just needs someone to give her the chance to get to know them, and know that they won't hurt her. She will then give you her heart. She is house broken, crate trained and sleeps through the night in her bed. She mostly ignores other dogs unless confronted with an in-your-face type dog, will voice her dislikes, but gives a warning bark to unfamiliar voices or noises. If you are on the look out for a watch dog, she’s your gal. Her hearing is excellent. Peanut is a good car rider. She navigates well inside the house to her beds, crate, the kitchen for treats, the water bowl, and will put herself to bed. Her most favorite place is outdoors exploring, sniffing, listening to sounds and protests if her peace is disturbed; a fenced yard would allow her to roam freely and is required for her. She will also tolerate being on a leash. Our girl is food aggressive as a result of being found dumped, starving and alone on a country road, severely underweight at just 3 lbs. Her foster mom puts her food down and walks away, giving her space. Peanut seems to prefer females, but just may warm up to a special guy who is well versed in Chi and their idiosyncrasies. While not a cuddler, she will approach for attention, a neck rub and, perhaps to join you on the couch under strict supervision because she will walk right off the edge if not stopped. Peanut may be best in a home as an only dog, would be okay with cats, but not with small children. We are adopting her to an all-adult home only, a single story home with no ground-level pool, and no stairs/steps to get outside. She will need an uncluttered living space. Peanut is heart worm positive at this time, and is on the slow kill protocol, which we can explain that process to any interested applicant. She can enjoy regular activities. Heart worm disease is contracted from an infected mosquito and can not be transmitted to another dog. If you believe you have the perfect forever home for Peanut and her little quirks due to her sight limitations and chihuahua personality, please complete her app and tell us more about you. Story
Apply to Adopt Me! Meet Eve, she is  8 months old. Eve came to us with her momma Maggie (who found her forever home) and two siblings. She is the runt of the litter, currently weighing in around 16 pounds. But don't underestimate Eve based on her size because she has the heart of a lion. And don't tell Eve she's small because she thinks she's big stuff. She stands up for herself and can be mouthy when other dogs come up to the pen. She is brave, playful, friendly and spunky but she is also sweet and sensitive and enjoys a good cuddle. She loves to chew on toys, play with her siblings as well as playing and exploring in the yard. Eve isn’t a fan of water, so bath time is definitely not her favorite activity. If you’re in the Orlando area and believe your family has the time, energy, and love to dedicate to raising a puppy, we’d love for you to send in an application and share more about your family! Story
Apply to Adopt Me! Hi - my name is Chico. I’m a male 2-year-old, 11-lb. possible chihuahua and dachshund mix (some people call that a chiweenie, though I look more on the chi side). After a short time to warm up to you, I’ll be your best friend and shadow. I love cozy blankets, and playing with my toys. I’m working very hard on my potty training, am mostly crate trained but prefer being out and about, and walk AMAZINGLY on a leash. I'm a medium-energy kinda guy, so if you love walks then cuddle time I’m your man. I’m great with big and small dogs, and have been introduced to cats and did well. If the home has kids, I would do best with older children, since young kids make me nervous. I’m also nervous around new things, but with love and patience, I quickly learn to not be afraid. I’m a happy, sweet boy when I’m given just a little time to get to know you. For my young age, I’m a calm and relaxed dog and I actually don’t bark all that much. I know sit, down, and a recall, and do fine riding in a car. I have gone through training to help me learn how to meet strangers so a family who is willing to continue that on is a must. If you think you are the perfect family for my cute self, and you live in the Orlando area, complete an app and tell me how you would make me your special little man. January 8, 2025, 5:06 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Franklin is a sweet little senior that came to PRBJ after his owner became very ill and could no longer take care of him. He is house broken and seems to be fine with dogs and cats.  Due to his age, we are recommending an adult only home. He only has a couple teeth but that doesn't slow him down from eating. He cannot hear well and does have cataracts but he is still a spunky little guy. Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.January 25, 2025, 1:50 pm

Story
Apollo is 15lbs, a weird mix of breeds I couldn’t even begin to describe, and a sweetheart. He is 8 years old and has been with me since he was a puppy. He loves sun bathing, long walks, and tug of war. He is great with kids (I have 2 toddlers that he has been around since they were born) he has lived with another dog in the past but that was many years ago so I’m not sure how he would do with other dogs now. Sadly my family has to make a big move this year and it just isn’t practical for him to come with us.

Story
***Local Adoption Only: Trace must be adopted by a family in the Central Florida region (Orlando area) who will commit to taking him to his follow-up vetting appointment. This has already been scheduled and the cost is covered by his adoption donation.*** Hi I'm Trace, a Chihuahua blend who weighs just 13 lbs. I'm 3 years old and I'm looking for toys, adventures, and a family who will love me forever. General Behavior: Trace is an active, attentive, loyal dog who is ready for anything. He is very friendly with humans of all sizes. Likes & Dislikes: Trace loves toys so much that he hoards them in his bed. He also loves car rides, outings, and frequent outdoor walks with his female companions.  Training: Trace is becoming quite the little gentleman! He is housetrained if let out frequently and is a good passenger on car rides, although he still needs some practice walking on a leash. He can still be a bit protective of his bed and belongings, but a dog-savvy adopter should be able to help him through this. Medical: Trace is a healthy boy! He just needs his monthly flea and heartworm preventatives, like any dog. Other Animals: Trace is good with female dogs, in particular, although he does not show much interaction with other dogs during yard play. He is not friendly towards larger, male dogs. Children: Trace is good with children of all ages. Home: Trace would do well in an apartment, condo, or single-family home. This little guy doesn't need much (apart from a place to stash his toy collection). Grooming: This short-haired guy won't need too much elaborate grooming beyond the occasional bath and regular nail trims. Overall: Trace will make a wonderful companion for an active family who can raise him and love him forever. Has Trace drawn you in? Do you live in Central Florida? Then visit our website www.PoodleandPoochRescue.org where you will find the application to adopt. You’ll be put in contact with the foster family for more information if it’s a potential match. He is up to date on vaccines, heartworm negative, microchipped, and neutered, and he has just had his teeth cleaned. His adoption donation is $475. ##2266196##

Story
Chika and Ollie were surrendered due to their parents passing away. These dogs are bonded and have been pampered their whole lives. We would like to find them adopters that will do the same thing. Chika and Ollie are both typical lap dogs. They are great companions and love to cuddle. Ollie is 10 years old and Chika is 8. We would love for them to find a home together. They are really laid back dogs and do not require any exercise but they do love adventures. They used to live on a property with a few acres. They have no health issues and are up to date on all vaccinations and spayed/neutered. They are both ready to find their forever homes now. ##2098107##

Story
Kylo is currently undergoing heartworm treatment. All costs are covered by us. Heartworm disease is contracted through the bite of infected mosquitoes. It's not contagious. If your dog is on heartworm prevention, they cannot get infected by the mosquito carrying the illness. Kylo was surrendered by his owner with two other small-breed dogs. Kylo is very timid at first but when he warms up he is the sweetest guy ever. Kylo will come up to you for butt scratches and kisses. He is pretty hilarious and still has a lot of spunk despite spending most of his time lounging around. Kylo is 8 years young and 9 pounds. Kylo is neutered, vaccinated, and chipped. Kylo is good with dogs and cats. He just wants to be your cuddle buddy. Apply to adopt Kylo today! ##2143697##

Story
Rocko is a 3-year-old Chihuahua weighing approximately 10 pounds. His owner was moving and unable to bring him. She said he was fearful and unsocialized. He would frequently hide from them. He has improved greatly with us, but he still is not totally trusting. He will need someone who will take it slow with him and be patient. He may snap and try to nip until he gets to know you and trust you. We think he will be best for someone with a fenced yard. He likes to walk on a leash but it's best to get to know him in a fenced yard then leashing him will be more comfortable for everyone. He has bonded with our rescue manager. It just takes him a little time. If you are tender-hearted and can go slow, please come meet this boy a few times. He will be worth the wait. He tends to attach to one person and they can do no wrong in his eyes. He is affectionate but when he has enough, he will let you know. He has to be the only pet. His adoption donation is $150 which includes his neuter, vaccinations, microchip. He is heartworm negative and on monthly prevention. He will blossom into a lovable, friendly boy so please give him a chance We are only able to adopt within the state of Florida. Story
Prince is a 6-year-old Chihuahua mix weighing approximately 15 pounds.  He has been with us for over 2 years.  He was so scared and unsocialized when we first got him.  He was living in a barn with no human contact.  He has come a long way and we feel he would benefit greatly from a foster home. He doesn’t like to be confined and will bark and growl at you when you close the gate to his room. He still doesn’t trust people but he has improved greatly.  We’re hoping he will blossom in a foster home.  Please help him to become the “Prince Charming” he’s meant to be.
