Story
Sprout is an adorable little guy! Sprout is about 2 years old and weighs about 10lbs. Sprout was attacked by a dog then rolled by a car so he wants to be your only dog. Sprout loves to sit next to you on the couch, he loves toys and yak bones.. he is a happy boy that will follow you around. Due to his accident, it take him a bit to allow you to pick him up so he needs a patient adopter that will go at his pace. Sprout really is a special boy and deserves a loving home. Story
Dante is a loving dog who loves to be under a blanket on your lap. He would love to live with adults in a calm setting. He currently lives with 3 kids and a cat and is not liking things here. We love him dearly but for his quality of life it’s time to find something more peaceful for him. He loves sleeping either on people or on top of the couch. He is house trained but slips for a while after a transition. No food that is dropped on the floor will be there long with Dante on the case! He is a really calm and loving soul that will thrive if he is an only pet.

Story
Apply to Adopt Me! Meet 6 lb, 6-7 yo Peanut, a sassy, independent, adventurous Chihuahua who likes to have it her way. Her attitude has improved after surgery to remove her painful eyes; maybe she should be renamed Sweet Pea! She is house broken, crate trained and sleeps through the night in her bed. Peanut tested positive for heart worm in September, but has been on a protocol since then, so we’re hoping she will be given the all clear soon. She mostly ignores other dogs unless confronted, will voice her dislikes, but gives a warning bark to unfamiliar voices or noises. If you are on the look out for a watch dog, she’s your gal. Her hearing is excellent. Peanut is a good car rider. She navigates well inside the house to her beds, crate, the kitchen for treats, the water bowl, and will put herself to bed. Her most favorite place is outdoors exploring, sniffing, listening to sounds and protests if her peace is disturbed; a fenced yard would allow her to roam freely and is required for her. Our girl is food aggressive as a result of being found dumped and alone on a country road at just 3 lbs., obviously starving. Her foster mom puts her food down and walks away, giving her space. Peanut seems to prefer females, but just may warm up to a special guy who is well versed in Chi and their idiosyncrasies. While not a cuddler, she will approach for attention, a neck rub and, perhaps to join you on the couch under strict supervision because she will walk right off the edge if not stopped. Peanut may be best in a home as an only dog, would be okay with cats, but not with small children. We are adopting her to an all-adult home only. Peanut is heart worm positive at this time, and is on the slow kill method, which we can explain that process to any interested applicant. She can enjoy regular activities. Heart worm disease is contracted from an infected mosquito and can not be transmitted to another dog. If you think you have the perfect forever home for Peanut and her little quirks due to her sight limitations, please complete her app and tell us more about you. August 20, 2024, 11:58 am

Story
Apply to Adopt Me! Say hello to Nino!  This handsome little fellow was surrendered to Animal Services because his family no longer wanted him. Our vet estimates Nino is between 8-10 years old. He weighs almost 7 pounds and has a striking salt-and-pepper colored coat.   Nino loves going on walks. He walks great on leash but gets excited if he sees a squirrel or dog. He may bark and pull so it’s important that his harness fits securely. Nino is easily redirected and the more experience walking outdoors, the less excited he gets upon seeing new things. Nino is sometimes startled by ordinary household objects. For example, he is convinced the vacuum cleaner is a monster and he loudly barks at it. Over time he should become accustomed to seeing the vacuum cleaner and lose interest in barking at it.   Indoors Nino gets along well with his smaller foster siblings. He craves attention so sometimes he will push in front of his foster siblings for pets or treats. He enjoys playing with his foster siblings but they don’t always reciprocate.  He loves to snuggle next to his people during TV time, and he sleeps quietly through the night at the foot of the bed or snuggled next to his people. Nino is house trained and crate trained. He doesn’t love going into his crate. He may bark or cry at first however he soon settles down. Nino has not shown destructive behaviors in the house. He is separated from his smaller foster siblings with a gate when his foster parents run errands but he does not need to be crated.   Nino is small enough to take just about anywhere, but he is also big enough to be able to go on a good walk outdoors when the weather is moderate. Due to his small size, Nino needs a home without small children. His ideal home would have adults only with and another dog about Nino’s size.  If you think you have the perfect forever home for Nino and you live in the Central Florida/Orlando area, please complete an application and tell us more about your family. Story
Apply to Adopt Me! Meet our little champ, Tobey Turbo McGuire an approx. 6yr old long haired chihuahua who weighs in at 6.5lbs. He is a fastidious little man who is house trained, a wonderful car rider, and acts like a gentleman in public spaces. He loves his little bed and is a sound sleeper throughout the night. One of his favorite activities is retrieving his squeaky tennis ball. He has a super appetite and is even eating veggies and fruit mashed up in his food. His fosters have added salmon oil and you can really see the bloom coming out in his gorgeous, red coat. He’s good with other little dogs, but prefers to play alone. He is the walking champion of the neighborhood and super quiet for his breed. He’s a good little watchdog if the doorbell rings. Tobey is perfect in his oversized playpen/crate, whimpering a bit once we say good night but falls to sleep and is quiet through the night.    Tobey has had a rough go since his owner passed away and family dropped him off at a hot, overcrowded shelter. He is uneasy with handling and has snapped out of fear. A calm, adult-only home is essential for this little guy to thrive and shine. His perfect forever home would be an experienced owner of a small dog or chihuahua like this little boy who is frightened by hands. We don't know what in his past made him fearful, but getting a harness on him took some time and patience with his current foster, and we imagine this will repeat, so he needs someone who has the patience to allow Tobey to go at his own pace until he trusts. Please consider this little project of love as your next companion. He deserves the best in life and in time will be a wonderful companion who has a few fear issues. Don’t we all though. If you live in the Central Florida/Orlando area, and believe you have the kind and patient home for Tobey that he needs, please complete and app and tell us more about you.  August 20, 2024, 11:58 am

Story
Apply to Adopt Me! Meet Beau Jangles (Bo Bo) Hey there, future family. I'm Beau Jangles, but you can call me Bo Bo. I'm a scrappy little approx. 3-year-old chihuahua/dachshund mix with some poodle and Russel-type terrier thrown in, weighing in at a proud 13.5 pounds of sheer cuteness and determination. Let me tell you a bit about my journey and what makes me, well, me! On July 6, I found myself in a pretty tough spot. I was rescued from the woods of Tomoka Park in Ormond after my previous owner decided to leave me behind. Can you believe it? I had to be trapped, living alongside Rocky the raccoon, Ricky the river rat, and even some scary alligators! Not exactly my idea of a cozy home. I still don’t understand why my family left me all alone in that big, scary place. But enough about that. I’m working hard every day to get ready for my forever home. I wear my harness like a badge of honor as I practice my leash walking skills. I’m a good boy, and I know I’ll make my future family proud. I’m crate trained and housebroken, and I absolutely adore other dogs and even cats. I spin in circles when I’m happy, at meal time and when it is time to go outside. I'm still learning to be friendly with strangers, but if you have some delicious dog snacks, I’ll warm up quicker than you can say "doggie cookie!" Sometimes I might guard my toys a little, but hey, who doesn’t love their favorite stuff? I do have a few fears—storms, screen doors, mailboxes and garages can be a bit much for me. But with a little patience and love, I know I can overcome them. Oh, and did I mention I love to swim? Who knew doxie mixes liked water? When it comes to bedtime, I’m happy to sleep in your room or even on your bed. Until I get to know you better, I might prefer to curl up on the floor in my bed right next to you. It makes me feel safe. I travel well in the car, preferring to look out the front window. I enjoy playing with toys, and my favorite thing is chewing on a Benebone. I’m ready to find my forever home, where I can share my love and loyalty with a family who understands me. If you’re looking for a cuddly companion who is working hard to be the best boy he can be, I’m your pup. Let’s make some wonderful memories together! Beau needs an adopter experienced with dogs that can occasionally have attitude. If you live in the Central Florida/Orlando area and believe you have the perfect home for Beau Jangles, complete an app and tell us more about you. August 20, 2024, 11:58 am

Story
Apply to Adopt Me! Cali Sue is a gentle, quiet and laid back gal. This sweet senior came to us as a stray and is estimated to be about 15 years old. She weighs only 6 pounds but she looks bigger due to her soft, extra-fluffy fur. This girl will follow you around the house with her head tilted at a quizzical angle. She arrived at Lil Rascals with an ear infection. It is possible she suffered without treatment for quite a while and, as a result, left her with a permanent head tilt. The infection is gone and she now has good balance plus good range of motion in her neck. She may tilt her head now simply out of habit. Cali Sue gets along great with her foster siblings. The only time you will hear Cali Sue make a sound is when she’s ready to eat. She will let you know with a little bark and she gets very excited as she watches you prepare her food. Her tummy is sensitive so she does best on a bland diet and only eats soft food. She is hard of hearing and is slightly vision impaired but is still independent and gets around easily on her own. She likes to snuggle in her bed but she also enjoys exploring outside. A home with a securely fenced backyard would be ideal for Cali Sue. She walks well on leash but she doesn’t go far or fast. After she gets to know you, she will sit in your lap for attention. She enjoys having her ears rubbed and her back scratched. Cali Sue needs to go outside every few hours to avoid indoor accidents. Overnight it’s best to put her bed into a confined area with a pee pad nearby. She could also wear a diaper overnight. Cali has a grade 4 of 6 heart murmur, dental disease and possibly the beginnings of kidney disease. Due to her age and heart murmur, our vet advises against spay/dental surgery. Cali Sue has a lot of love and companionship to give to the right person. She would love to be your quiet, low energy best friend. We will adopt her to an all-adult home only. If you live in the Central Florida/Orlando area and believe you have the perfect forever home for this sweet senior, please complete an application and tell us more about your family.
