Weighing only 9 pounds dripping wet, this little Chihuahua boy is named Hermey and he’s just arrived from Texas to NJ to find a forever home. He is only a year old. Hermey is a timid pup who will need a patient family. He is great with other dogs but he will chase cats. In fact Hermey will only be adopted into a home with another calm canine companion. Hermey has had no exposure to children and because of his timid nature we feel that he should not be in a home with kids. Hermey is definitely affectionate although he is afraid of getting grabbed - he loves getting pets and belly rubs though. He is crate trained & likes to eat in the comfort of his crate so he can eat at his own pace during meals. He even sleeps in the crate overnight. “EMBRACE THE IMPERFECTION” Good morning, boys and girls. My name is Seren. I am a 3-year-old Chihuahua/Terrier mix and found myself pregnant on the streets of Texas. I am happy to announce that on March 10, 2024, I gave birth to four healthy puppies, all of which have since found their forever homes. I’m currently residing with multiple dogs, however, I do get a little jealous when other dogs approach my human. So although I would be great in a home with other dogs, I would also be OK in a home as the only princess. I don’t want to live in the past so I would prefer not to discuss my life previous to NorthStar Pet Rescue, but I am a little untrusting of people at first. As a result, I would do best in an adult only household with slow introductions to visitors. I would do best in a home with someone who is dog savvy, only because I do get nervous and need someone that is going to be understanding and patient. I am house trained, I am not destructive, and I am a fun, quirky, little girl who will make you laugh every day. Meet Pinto, a sweet Chihuahua mix boy with extra-long legs! He was rescued from a shelter in Texas and now is in a wonderful foster home. This boy loves people and asks for petting. In the morning Pinto hangs out by front door so he doesn’t miss a walk - he's good on a leash, too! He's good with other dogs - he's even made friends with all the dogs in his foster home (even the grumpy ones!) Pinto is 10 years old and weighs 22 pounds. He is housetrained and is good with older kids - young kids are an unknown but he's been great with the 12-year-old and up crowd! Got a mouse problem? Pinto is on the job - he'll happily "gift" you with his catch, too! And you'll no longer need a fly swatter with Pinto around! He snaps at flies & bugs, even catching some of them - he's handy to have around in the summer! And he's quite entertaining to watch! DOB 5-5-2022 Tommy, The Rock Opera, he is a star! Tommy, sweet little ChiChi, is looking for a Mom, he does like to play with other littles, enjoys toys and is social and kind. He wants to spend all his time with his special person so get ready for a best friend. Tommy is a little guy so he needs a protector, lots of love and several cozy places around the house. Tommy's adoption fee is 500.00, his transport fee is 165.00 and is paid to our transport company HEARTS LLC. Tommy is complete on all medical, he is heartworm negative, on Proheart 6 preventative and up to date on everything. The first step in the adoption process is to fill out an online adoption application. You can find a copy of that application here. We sometimes receive a lot of interest on an animal and can't always reply to each email in a timely manner. An application does not obligate you to adopt from us, but it does show that you are serious about the adoption process. Please remember we are all volunteers. After you submit your application please allow a few days for a volunteer to review your application. During this time your vet reference will be checked and a volunteer with determine if it is the best match for you and the animal. Applications are not approved on a first come, first serve basis. We match up the best home for the animal, so even if the pet has other applications, this does not mean he/she will be adopted to that home. Once your application has been approved a volunteer with contact you to set up a phone interview. This is the perfect time for you to ask any questions you have about the adoption process and the animal you are interested in.

This sweet 11-year-old senior ended up in a Texas shelter, hoping to find someone to spend her golden days with! NorthStar stepped in and pulled her to safety and she is now in a wonderful foster home. Sake currently lives with 3 crazy cats in her foster home in TX and has no issue when the kitten tries to steal her food or they play around her. Personality wise, Sake is just like having a little doll. She loves her donut bed and just sleeps there most of the day and then will walk and sit somewhere else. She loves rolling in the grass but has to be carried out cause we have steps. Once we carry her outside, she immediately does her business. She just ignores everyone and doesn’t mind when others come close to her. She hasn’t made a noise since being here. Sake's legs and feet didn’t form correctly at birth so she moves differently and sometimes needs help getting around on slick surfaces. She also has no teeth although that hasn't interfered with her eating wet food! She has chronic dry eye for which she will be on an ointment the rest of her life. As you can see in her photos, Sake is very underweight, practically skeletal, but she is slowly gaining weight in foster as she eats 3 healthy meals a day. NorthStar will be making sure Sake gets the medical attention she needs in order to bring her back to a better state of health. She will then be making her way to NJ to find a wonderful retirement home. Little Mavis was whisked to safety by NorthStar on her final day at a Texas kill shelter! She is now in a loving foster home where she gobbled up her first good meal in a long time. Mavis is 14 years old and weighs about 8 pounds. She will be making her way to NJ to find a forever home. She does have some health issues (including bad teeth) and housetraining is a work in progress (she needs frequent potty breaks), but we hope to have this sweet old girl in a forever home soon with someone who just can't resist this wobbly senior girl!
