She was spotted several times running across a 4-lane highway. In the heat of Summer and in the cold of Winter she tried to survive alone. She had no home. Her life consisted of looking for something to eat and hiding from people who either shooed her away or threw things at her. Finally, during the heavy storms and more than average snow, she had to make her way down. It was freezing cold and she was skin and bones by this time. Food was scarce and she was giving up.  She would hide wherever she could and come out only to find something to eat – someone kind spotted her and left some food out. She stayed in that area of Tollhouse. Lab Rescue was contacted and we set a trap. It didn’t take long for her to be caught due to the yummy food in the trap. Finally safe February 28th. It was a long, slow process for an emaciated dog like Cookie to gain back to a healthy weight. It was also a long process for her to gain the trust of humans. Her foster worked with her daily to gain her trust. She had obviously never been in a home, nor treated with kindness or affection. Fast forward- Tollhouse Cookie is in excellent shape now. She’s healthy, spayed, microchipped and vaccinated and sassy. Little by little her confidence grew and she has blossomed into an affectionate dog who gets along with other dogs. She has learned that there are good people in this world who want her to have what every dog should have – a home, good food and the love of a human who treats her with gentle kindness. Cookie will probably always be a bit standoffish with new people. She is looking for someone who will take the time she needs to trust. Cookie’s foster Mom is looking for a family that will give Cookie time to blossom in a new environment, and who will enjoy the rewards of seeing how much she can accomplish. Cookie is crate and house-trained and is about 2 years old. She gets along with dogs but would be fine as an only dog. She does have some drive to get those squirrels so we think a home without cats is best. If you would like to know more about Cookie, please fill out an adoption application at www.labrescuefresno.org If you are interested in adopting through Labrador Retriever Rescue of Fresno, you must first fill out an Adoption Application located at our website www.LabRescueFresno.org All dogs are spayed/neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccines including rabies; flea/tick topical drops, heartworm tested and microchipped. Meet Phoenix, the energetic and exuberant pup who can't wait to light up your life! This playful canine is an excellent addition to any family looking for a high-energy companion.  Phoenix is a social butterfly and generally gets along well with most dogs. Whether it's a rousing game of fetch or a frolic in the park, he loves his playtime with furry friends. His sociable nature makes Phoenix an excellent companion for both humans and four-legged pals. Not only is Phoenix full of energy, but he's also a sharp learner. He has mastered basic training commands and is always eager to show off his impressive skills. Sit, stay, and paw are just a few tricks Phoenix can perform flawlessly. With his enthusiasm and quick learning abilities, he'll be a joy to train and continue his education with.  It's important to note that Phoenix can become overexcited during walks and may bark at other animals. This is something that will require ongoing training and patience to manage. With consistent reinforcement and positive reinforcement techniques, Phoenix can learn to walk calmly and politely.  Despite his excitability, Phoenix's playful and affectionate nature shines through. He loves spending time outdoors, exploring new sights and smells. Whether it's a hike in the woods or a run on the beach, he thrives on activities that engage his exuberant spirit. When it's time to wind down, Phoenix knows how to relax and cuddle up next to you for a cozy night in. He may have bursts of excitement, but he also has a loving and affectionate side that will make you feel truly cherished If you are an experienced dog owner who can provide the structure and guidance Phoenix needs, he could be the perfect fit for your family. With a little training and consistent exercise, Phoenix will grow into a well-rounded canine companion. Are you ready to bring Phoenix into your home? If you're looking for an energetic, playful, and eager-to-learn dog, he is the one for you. Open your heart and give Phoenix a loving home, and you'll be rewarded with a loyal and fun-loving canine companion. Please apply at www.labrescuefresno.org and ask for Phoenix! Seeking highly qualified Forever Family to provide lifetime of love to adorable Labrador. Generous compensation package of love, smiles, and companionship provided! Hello new friends! Barney here! I have not always had the easiest life. I used to live with a family…well not exactly a family…some people bought me as a cute puppy, but after a short time and because I was acting like a normal puppy, I was relegated to their backyard kennel alone. Day and night. Being a “papered” dog didn’t do me a lot of good. I am officially ready to begin the application process to find my new Forever Family! I am placing this advertisement to find one (1) super amazing Forever Family. The primary responsibilities of my Forever Family include the following: Qualified candidates should be prepared to smile A LOT. My foster dad says I am simply a goofy joy to be around. The ideal candidate might have another dog; – my current foster has a little dog named Tito-the Enforcer and another lab. I have not met a cat yet, so I am just not sure how I feel about them. Compensation and Benefits: I provide a generous compensation package, including the following: Barney is an incredibly resilient Labrador who is full of love and is ready to devote himself to his forever family. His loving spirit shines through constantly and warms your heart. This sweet boy has come such a long way and gets more comfortable and confident every day. Barney has been under socialized because his “family” chose to ignore him most of his short life so he has a lot to make up for. He has become much more social and is doing well with the fosters dogs. He needs continued socialization and a dog savvy family who will continue his training. Because he was bored while stuck in a cage, all he could do to pass the time was, well, eat. With no exercise he became too heavy, so he is on a doggie diet until he’s at a healthy weight. He is great with people but because of his size, older children are best. We do not know about cats. This loving Labrador is happiest when he is cuddled up next to you. Do you have room in your heart and home to make Barney a member of your family? Apply to meet Barney today at www.labrescuefresno.org.   If you are interested in adopting through Labrador Retriever Rescue of Fresno, you must first fill out an Adoption Application located at our website www.LabRescueFresno.org All dogs are spayed/neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccines including rabies; flea/tick topical drops, heartworm tested and microchipped. Hello friend! Do you feel lonesome?  Do you want to take walks anywhere and everywhere? Do you like to play fetch? Do you need a best Buddy?  Well, if you answered yes to any of these, look no farther – I am Buddy and eagerly waiting to be your best buddy!  When I find you, there will be no more being alone, there will be walks galore, and we will each have a best buddy! I am a big, cuddly guy waiting for a family to love and be loved by!  So, what are you waiting for? Why don’t we get together and have a wonderful life!  I’m ready to go – you bring the leash, I’ll bring the fun, and together we will share wagging tail love! Wonder how everyone’s Buddy could end up here?  Well, it is a story becoming much more common.  My human who had me since I was 8 weeks old no longer has a home.  There are so many with my same story that the shelters and rescues are overwhelmed.  But thanks to people like you who look to adopt rather than shop, and the Labrador Retriever Rescue of Fresno, the best defenders of dogs in the whole wide galaxy, I have been given a chance to find myself a home.   So here I am, looking for a forever home, my tail wagging, my heart open for love. You should know my heart is as large as my outside!  I never meet a stranger and can’t wait to say hi!  Dogs of all shapes and sizes are fun too – I am always up for some playtime with anyone who has time.  Fetch is good, squeaker toys must die, swimming is fun, but best of all I like walks by your side.  I have the basics down – sit, stay, wait, down and off, but I am a pleaser and would love to learn more to make you smile.  Really, I am the happiest of guys, looking to be someone’s best Buddy for life.  Will you adopt me please?  I can’t wait to meet you and show you how good I can be. Buddy is available for adoption through the Labrador Retriever Rescue of Fresno.  He is loving and good with people and dogs.  He is a funny, sweet, happy-go-lucky guy who doesn’t have a mean bone in his body and has a tail that is always wagging.  Like all young Labradors, regular exercise and training are needed to turn them into the best they can be.  If you have room in your heart and home, and need a Buddy, you can’t go wrong with this fun-loving dog.  If you would like to adopt handsome Buddy, please fill out an application at our website: https://www.LabRescueFresno.Org   If you are interested in adopting through Labrador Retriever Rescue of Fresno, you must first fill out an Adoption Application located at our website www.LabRescueFresno.org All dogs are spayed/neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccines including rabies; flea/tick topical drops, heartworm tested and microchipped. Are you looking for a loyal and loving best friend? Guess what, you found him! My foster mom and everybody I meet keep telling me what a handsome and sweet dude I am. But I don’t let it get to my head.  I LOVE my people! And I absolutely love my walks – spending time outdoors, and exploring new sights and smells. And did you say water? I'm a Lab, so I love to play in the water! But if you’re not the adventurous type, that’s okay! I just need a walk to help keep me in shape and then I’m happy hanging out with you while you garden, do chores, or relax. Actually, I’m just happy doing anything! I like to show my excitement by rubbing all around your legs - like I’m auditioning to be the world’s largest housecat. Plus, you get the bonus of being able to shower me with affection without lifting a finger- I take care of all the petting for you! And speaking of cats, I ignored the cat in my last foster home. I’ve had some training in my lifetime and my foster mom says I’m doing great with my refresher training and learning new commands. I’d really benefit from having my new family continue strengthening and reinforcing that training. I am a quick learner and have picked up on the rules and routine of my foster home easily. My foster mom is so impressed with how quickly I learned to sit and wait to eat my meal until she tells me “all done”. I am totally potty trained and will ring my little bell like a reindeer when I need to go outside. I settle down when it is time for bed, and sleep on my comfy pillow next to my foster parents’ bed. I am all about my people and because I love them so much, and I'm not particularly fond of other dogs, I’d thrive being the only dog in my new family’s home. I am a Lab so I love my food and treats but my vet said I have some weight to lose, and I have been doing great with that! I, like many Silver Labs, suffer from seasonal skin allergies. My foster family has me wear these awesome sun shirts when I am outside to protect my skin. I get lots of compliments and I think I’m pretty darn cute in them, if I may say so myself! Because of my size I am better suited for a home with grown-ups. Logan came to Lab Rescue because of a promise made to a beloved friend who was very ill. Logan was very much loved by his owner. When she passed away, her dear friend saw to it that she kept her promise to her and to Logan, which was to find him a loving home. How could we say no? This gorgeous hunk is an easy guy to have around. He settles instantly, likes to follow you around but isn’t demanding of attention. He would love to have a forever home and live the life he deserves. Is Logan the sweet buddy you’ve been looking for? What are you waiting for? Fill out an adoption application at www.labrescuefresno.org and ask for Logan! But surprise! She has sprinkles of white on her chest, on each of her four paws, and a dramatic bit of silver in her fan tail.  So chic.  Athena’s life didn’t start out as she deserved, being a goddess.  It’s difficult to believe, but somehow, she found herself in a shelter.  Wondering if she would ever have a family.  Knowing that’s no place for a goddess.   It’s unclear how Athena ended up there, but thanks to the defenders of dogs, the Labrador Retriever Rescue of Fresno, and those who will choose to adopt rather than shop, she had a second chance for a forever home.   Athena is an affectionate pup that loves to be loved.  She wants to please. With her intelligence and focus, training will be a pleasure.  She started out in a shelter rather than a home, so she’s learning the ropes of house manners and is doing great.  She has not been destructive for a young dog, but does have her moments of shoe stealing or rug dragging for attention.  She is quick to comply with house rules as she is shown.  Athena sleeps in a crate in foster family bedroom all night with no problems.   Her energy level is medium for a ten month old.  She loves being outdoors. Exploring, hunting gophers at her foster home.  Tippy toeing in slow motion, listening.  Her technique is quite good however, she is 0-18 losing to the gophers at this point.   Athena can zoom around the yard or go for a walk or a hike, then lounge in the house with her people. Snoozing quietly.  She loves it all.  Just being with you is her favorite thing.  She hasn’t had the opportunity to meet young humans yet.  But she is so friendly, her foster mom thinks she would be good with children.  As always, under supervision.  She is friendly and playful with the two dogs at her foster home.   One a large male and the other a medium female.  The three of them play well together, sharing toys. Athena is also good with the elderly cat.  He is tolerant of her attention. She wants to play but controls herself like the regal goddess she is.  All in all, she’s going to make a superb companion to a lucky person or family.   If you are looking for a nearly perfect dog to be part of your family and agree with us about how truly amazing Athena is, fill out an adoption application at www.labrescuefresno.org If you are interested in adopting through Labrador Retriever Rescue of Fresno, you must first fill out an Adoption Application located at our website www.LabRescueFresno.org All dogs are spayed/neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccines including rabies; flea/tick topical drops, heartworm tested and microchipped.
