Story
Mason is a wonderful boy! He came from a kill shelter in a neighboring county. I saw his face and knew I had to save him! He was found a stray and is estimated to be about 2 years old. He was found to be heartworm positive, but his treatment is now complete. He is neutered and UTD on vax and flea treatment. He is loving and just wants to please. Very smart - someone has taught him several commands, like sit, stay, down, shake, and beg. His only issue is that he chases cats, so he CANNOT be around small animals. He will be a loyal companion!

Story
This is a great dog. He was found after the Helene Flood in NE TN. He was gathered up with other dogs after the flood and taken to a kill shelter. We rescued him on his last day. Every attempt has been made to find his original owner with no luck. We are elderly and unable to take care of an active dog. He is great with other dogs and people. He is energetic and will make a good hunting dog and/or a great house pet. We bring him inside and he is very passive. He has been sleeping in a crate and is crate trained.

All AHHS animals are spayed/neutered, microchipped, and up-to-date on vaccinations before adoption (if species appropriate). Application and counseling is required prior to all adoptions. Individuals interested in adopting a puppy are STRONGLY encouraged to download and read this FREE ebook. Even if you've raised puppies in the past, this is an invaluable resource to help make your new addition successful!   Who wouldn't want this giant teddy bear smiling at them forever? Meet Marnie. She is a 3-year-old Great Pyrenees that came to us from a rural shelter in NC. Marnie was found with her two puppies in a Dollar General parking lot, likely having been dumped there. Marnie's pups have since been adopted, but now she waits for her perfect person(s) to come along. She is the definition of a gentle giant. As you can see, lounging on the couch with her foster mom is one of her favorite activities. Marnie also loves going outside and playing with other dogs. She's approved for a home with other dogs, kids, and cats. Marnie is heartworm positive, though the Appalachian Highlands Humane Society agrees to cover her treatment at no cost to the adopter. If interested in providing the loving home that Marnie deserves, apply online at ahhumanesociety.org or email Halee@ahhumanesociety.org. Breed experience preferred but not required.December 18, 2024, 8:43 pm

Individuals interested in adopting a puppy are STRONGLY encouraged to download and read this FREE ebook. Even if you've raised puppies in the past, this is an invaluable resource to help make your new addition successful!   Why adopt this gal? Well, the reasons are endless but allow us to list a few: - She’s just a baby (meaning she’s young and trainable) - You’ll get to enjoy the bittersweet puppy phase; unless you’ve had a pup, you’ll learn there’s nothing more special!! - Kersten is a mountain feist mix and we don’t expect her to be very large when grown - She’s mastered the art of patience (she’s waited forrreeeeveerrrr in dog months for a forever home) - dog, cat, kid friendly Kersten’s estimated DOB is 10/28/24. Her adoption fee is $275 and includes all age-appropriate vaccines, deworming, microchip, and her future spay appointment! I am looking for a home in which I can become the best possible dog I can be! I know I've got it in me to make someone a fantastic furry family member, I just need to be given a chance. Please note that this is a mixed breed puppy.  There is no guarantee on breed or adult size.  This puppy is in a foster home.  Contact Halee for more information halee@ahhumanesociety.org You may complete an application at https://ahhumanesociety.org/dog-adoption-application/ January 10, 2025, 10:29 am

He would do best in a home with no small children as their activity level may just be too overwhelming for such a mellow fellow. Noah enjoys having ALL the attention ALL the time. He is only a year old, so, naturally, he is rather energetic. Despite his small size, he will require a family capable of exercising him as needed. We think he'd be content with a few walks a day or a fenced yard area to get the zoomies out. He's indifferent about other animals and would thrive in a home with or without other furry companions! To meet this handsome prince for yourself, apply online at ahhumanesociety.org or email Halee@ahhumanesociety.org with questions!January 2, 2025, 2:30 pm
