Story
Hey hi hello, I'm Lida! I'm a 1-year-old, mixed breed, ball of sunshine and energy! I've been with my foster mom and foster (human) sister since June, and I think I'm really getting the hang of things! When my mom first picked me up, I was really scared. It took 3 hours and 4 Babybel cheeses for me to come out of the corner when we got home, but that was the first day of the rest of my life with cheese! I didn't know anything about living in a house, but it only took a few weeks before I was going outside to potty, and going in my crate! My mom says it's rude to brag too much, but I'm like, really smart. And I'm REALLY busy. I'm so smart that when my mom got me my own trainer, I learned all of these things right off the bat: sit, stay, down, look, and leave it. I LOVE to learn stuff, and I'm happiest when I'm doing anything at all, really. There's even a chair mom calls the "Good Girl Chair," and when people come to the door, she makes me sit in it so I don't jump on them. I don't like when mom says "leave it" because I'm really curious about stuff but I listen to her because what I also learned is that I LOVE making my people happy. It's my favorite thing. Here's some other stuff I like: -Going on long walks every single day -Playing fetch -Running around outside (when my zoomies are really going, my vertical could get me into the NBA) -Toys (except for the viral crab toy that other dogs really like. I do not like the crab. The crab is not my friend. The crab is my nemesis.) -Cuddling with my mom and human sister I'm not sure how I feel about cats yet, but I know I have trust issues with other dogs, and I prefer to just be with my humans right now. My mom says this is getting better, but I will need a lot more (professional) training before we can know how I am off-leash with other dogs because she says the way I am with dogs on a leash right now is something called "not chill." I'm just scared, I think, and we're working on it, so I hope you can be patient with me and help me work on it, too. In return, I promise to make you laugh every single day with how I "talk" to you, and I will give you lots of hugs and cuddles and be your best friend because, more than anything, I just LOVE love, don't you?

Story
Pastel (#MASA26356), or Goose, as his foster parent lovingly calls him, is the epitome of gentleness. His favorite thing in the world? Pets! There's nothing he treasures more than a warm, affectionate touch. His eyes light up with joy at the simple pleasure of being loved, making him the perfect companion for those quiet, tender moments. But Goose is not just a cuddle expert; he's also an explorer at heart. Every walk is an adventure for him, as he sniffs around, eager to uncover the mysteries of the world. His curiosity knows no bounds, and he delights in discovering new scents and sights, transforming ordinary walks into exciting escapades. It is worth noting that he walks very easily on a lead as well. When it comes to meeting new people, Goose is a social butterfly. He enjoys the company of humans, sharing his gentle nature and spreading happiness wherever he goes. The foster parent isn't quite sure how he does with other dogs yet, but with humans, he is a certified good boy. _______________________________________________________________________________________________ A staff member who spent time with me said: "Pastel is quiet and calm in his kennel. Once taken outside, he maintained a relaxed and chill presence in the yard. He sniffed around and explored, but would saunter over occasionally for treats or pets. Once time to go back inside, he didn't seem to want to leave the yard. It took some time to entice him to leave the play yard." Pastel attended playgroup 10/31/23. He initially was friendly and social and tolerant of other dogs. He was often vocal in play. Eventually, he became fixated on another male dog and attempted to attack, but was easily stopped with auditory aversive (shakers)

Meet Christmas, Your Potential New Best Friend! Say hello to Christmas, #MASA19046! This heartworm-negative girl has been with us for almost A YEAR (yes, you read that right), and she's still searching for her future home. Here's an update from her foster parents, who are thrilled with the progress she's made: "We're so proud of Christmas's journey in terms of potty and kennel training. She's been doing great and willingly goes into her kennel during meals or when offered treats. Her love for snuggling and giving kisses, not just to us but to our dogs, is a joy! Watching her run around the house or outside in the sun is delightful. She's a high-energy girl who would thrive in the company of a younger person or couple. Although she can be a bit rough with other dogs, it's her playful nature." Christmas has a friendly and social personality. During her stay at the shelter, she was known to be tolerant and enjoyed relaxing in the shade in playgroups. She loves cuddling and is a perfect companion for someone who enjoys high-energy play and plenty of affection. If you're interested in adopting this delightful 45 lb. girl, please visit memphisanimalservices.com and click "apply for adoption" on her profile. We'd love to find her a home where she can be cherished for who she is!

Meet Clyde, a 2-year-old boy who is 50 lbs. and heartworm negative! Clyde has been living in a foster home and is ready to be YOUR best friend! Clyde is a confident, handsome, happy boy who enjoys the outdoors. He's active - loves walks and would probably make a great running partner or do amazing at agility, I could even see him being an excellent search and rescue dog. He happily greets kids (he's not been tested with young children). He doesn't enjoy being confined unless it's bedtime and will let you know. Clyde would do great with an active family as long as he's included in the fun. He loves pets and sitting on your lap for them. He is not small animal friendly but doesn't mind other dogs. He's gentle with our elderly German Shepherd and has been from the beginning. He currently lives with his bff Bonnie and 3 foster siblings.

Story
This is Roxy (#MASA13623). She has been very timid and shy in her kennel, but as you can see as proof in these photos, she really blossoms once she gets out for some one-on-one time with some loving humans. Here is what one of our staff members noted about her after spending a little time with her: "I went to the yard with her and the volunteer, and I can confirm she's super sweet! It took like 30 seconds for her to warm up to me, and after that all she wanted was to be pet and get some belly rubs. I can see her being a bit of a velcro dog that just wants to be with her person." Come see Roxy blossom for yourself! Come meet her any day of the week between 12 and 4 pm at MAS!

Story
Meet Bonnie! Bonnie is a 2-year-old girl who is currently in a foster home. Bonnie is 75 lbs. and heartworm positive. Bonnie is a beautiful, sweet & loving girl who enjoys belly rubs. One of our favorite fun tricks she does is sit up for treats! She is highly food motivated so training has been easy for her. This girl loves to go on walks! She is curious with newcomers but with reassurance she says hello. She enjoys her kennel which is left open for her to come and go as she pleases & prefers to eat her meals in there. She loves toys and will gather them and store them in her kennel too - it's her safe haven. She is quiet & an easy keeper. Bonnie's ideal home would include older kids or adults who can offer her lots of love and reassurance. Bonnie lives with her bff Clyde and 3 foster siblings, she has so much love to offer. She is not small animal friendly.
