Story
I am in a foster home and not at the shelter. If you are interested in adopting, submit an adoption questionnaire by email. Learn more hereHello from Milo! Milo is a gentle and loving soul. This sweet boy may have had a rough start in life, but he has made tremendous strides in improving his social abilities in his foster home. He was once fearful and nervous around new situations and people. Now, he eagerly welcomes guests to his home, wagging his tail in excitement for some tasty treats. He's even conquered his fear of passing strangers on the leash! (He still may have some stranger danger but it's getting better every day.) Fosters have reported that Milo is a playful and healthy pup who loves nothing more than being outside, playing, and exploring with his furry foster doggie siblings. He's full of affection and adores being petted, and his favorite place to cuddle up is right next to his beloved humans on the bed. His foster family calls him "Sunny Boy"! Milo is a good sleeper, sleeping soundly through the night, too. Milo will thrive in a calm and quiet household and environment, with routine and consistency so that he can continue to feel safe. He has learned to be a more confident dog! While Milo's past makes it hard to predict how he'll react around children or cats, one thing is for sure: this dog is full of love and loyalty, waiting for the perfect family to give him the love and care he deserves. With his good nature and willingness to learn, Milo is ready to be a faithful companion for life. Could you be the one to give him the loving home he's been waiting for? Milo is about 3 years old and weighs 59 lbs. He would prefer a quiet and adult-only home at this time. He adores people and forms deep bonds with his humans. And yes, he has mastered the art of "puppy eyes"! Max is incredibly soft and adores affection and belly rubs. Don't let his senior status fool you; full of life, this pup is far from retirement and maintains excellent mobility, hearing, and eyesight. He relishes going on walks, car rides, and is always eager for new adventures, such as exploring the coastal trail at Half Moon Bay or hiking on local nature trails. His current routine includes two daily walks around the neighborhood and mental exercises to keep him healthy and content. He reveals his playful side when pouncing on plush squeaking toys or zooming around the yard. Max has mastered many new skills, proving that older dogs are both capable and intelligent. He is crate trained, and understands numerous commands and associated hand signals. Max is highly food motivated and fearlessly attempts anything for treats, from navigating a long tunnel to jumping over small objects. His food motivation aids in his training and eagerness to learn new tricks. Max resides in a suburban foster home with a yard enclosed by a 6-foot fence, where he enjoys a balance of indoor and outdoor time. While Max prefers to be the sole focus of attention, he has enjoyed a few playdates with select tolerant dogs.  If you're searching for a truly remarkable companion with a sweet and affectionate demeanor, look no further than Max. I am in a foster home and not at the shelter. If you are interested in adopting, submit an adoption questionnaire by email. Learn more hereAmana is in a foster home and her fosters say: Amana is a sweet and sensitive soul who loves to be with her humans, whether it's snuggling at home or out on an adventure. She is a medium energy dog who is happy to go on walks of any length and lounge around at home. She is fully house trained, has been fine being home alone for 6 hours, and is comfortable in cars. Amana is very smart and has learned new tricks in a day (most recently, 'back up')! She's also pretty quiet and rarely barks (she tends to bark for the first few minutes after being left at home, then settles down). Gorgeous Amana has made leaps and bounds with her loose leash walking, but can get carried away following her nose so she will need continued rewards-based training. And while she is social with other respectful dogs, her ideal home will help her with her excitement around her dog buddies. See her flourish in foster @adopt_oas_amana on Instagram! A dog whose calm and joyful demeanor is irresistable! Introducing Champagne with these amazing, delightful qualities: Heartwarming Happy Prance:  Champagne's happy prance during her walk touches your heart and brings a bright and cheerful energy to your daily interactions. Calm and Sweet Nature:  Exhibiting super calm and sweet behavior, Champagne remains composed and gentle, even during activities like bath time. She has been diagnosed with a skin condition called Pyoderma and receives frequent medicated baths. Leash Mastery:  Walking on an amazingly loose leash, Champagne proves to be an excellent walking companion, making strolls a pleasant experience. Though she will pull if she sees a squirrel run by!  Smart girl. According to her foster family, she is so smart and knows "sit," "lay down," and figured out how to open a door on her own.  Peanut Butter Connoisseur:  Champagne's love for peanut butter adds a delightful and endearing detail to her preferences, creating opportunities for enjoyable treats. We think Champagne would like to be the one and only dog in the home, but she may appreciate having some doggie friends! She is currently in foster with another dog and is doing well, after slow introductions.  If you're looking for a furry companion who brings happiness, calmness, and a touch of sweetness to your life, Champagne is the perfect match! Story
I am in a foster home and not at the shelter. If you are interested in adopting, submit an adoption questionnaire by email. Learn more hereAriel is a sweet and friendly 4-year-old German Shepherd who’s ready to brighten up your home with her charm and playful spirit. At a petite 44 lbs, she’s the perfect size for cuddles and companionship. Why Ariel is a Great Addition to Your Family Affectionate and Goofy: Ariel adores making eye contact and soaking up all the love during butt scritches. If you give her a good scratch, you might even be treated to a tippy-tappy dance from her back legs! Crate and Potty Trained: She’s a pro at both crate and potty training. While she might whine for 2-3 minutes initially, she settles down quickly. Well-Mannered: Ariel knows common commands like sit, come, and go to crate/home. She’s eager to please and easy to train further. Playful and Cuddly: Ariel has a gentle, sweet nature and loves to show her happiness with a friendly wag and a joyful wiggle. She’s a mix of maturity and playful energy. Dog-Friendly: Ariel gets along well with other dogs but should have a match in personality, as she can be pushy in play. She enjoys nose-to-nose sniffs and trots around the yard with her canine friends. Ideal Home Dog Companions: Ariel can thrive with appropriately matched gentle and social dog companions or as a solo dog with friendly dog pals. Attention-Loving: She loves being the center of attention and can adapt to various family dynamics, though she’s not suited for homes with young children. Leash Training: Ariel pulls slightly on the leash but it’s manageable with a bit of training. Additional Notes Ariel is generally goofy and cuddly, making her a delightful companion. She has been one of the easiest fosters the current family has had, and they’re still learning more about her to provide updates. Ariel is ready to bring endless joy and companionship to her new family. If you’re looking for a sweet, friendly, and easy-going dog with a touch of goofiness, Ariel might be the perfect match for you! Story
Chip has truly blossomed in his foster home and is becoming "one of the pack". His foster mom has nothing but high praises for this handsome guy "Gosh...he is so sweet", "A couple of times he has initiated play with our females [GSDs] and it's adorable", "He does love getting a ball outside and carrying it around. We gave in an inside ball to, to chew on, in the house, which he will do sometimes. Mostly, he loafs around with the rest of the pack. We are so enjoying this guy". Chip has had a couple of interactions with their cat and basically ignores him. He even walked right past him and since he didn't care, neither did the cat. Chip will make a wonderful companion for some lucky adopter. ---------------------------------------------------------- Chip is a sweet boy shamefully neglected and is believed to have been dumped at the Modesto reservoir! Golden State German Shepherd Rescue evaluated this gorgeous male and he passed our temp test with flying colors!! Chip, can be talkative in his kennel and is friendly. Chip is a curious boy, but he also likes to lay down and relax. He walks well on a leash and he know "sit". When he wants pets, he may nude you or put his head on your lap! In the Stanislaus shelter, he loved splashing in the pool and carrying toys and dipping them in the water. He throws toys for himself and then runs around and collects them all. He doesn’t seem to know to bring them back to a person but maybe he never was taught. In the kennel, he has been a perfect gentleman and is very respectful of everyone and everything...except his water bowl! Story
Yennefer is a beautiful two year old girl with a huge heart. She enjoys playing with her foster brothers and LOVES squeaker toys. Yen has consistently shown a desire to chase cats so a kitty-free home would be best. However, she is great with people of all ages and enjoys hanging out and playing with the seven year old child (under strict supervision) in her foster home. She completed obedience classes and did wonderfully. This has helped build her confidence and enhanced her socialization skills. Yen likes car rides, has great manners, is housebroken, crate trained and would love the company of a medium to large sized male dog as she enjoys the company of her big handsome GSD foster brothers. Story
Obie is a young handsome German Shepherd mixed puppy. He has a personality that won't quit. He wants to follow you wherever you go. He loves playing with toys especially a noisy pig toy. Obie will sit for a treat and is learning to give paw and to lie down. He does pretty well walking on a leash with great eye focus. He is very curious about the foster family's cat so is cat trainable with a dog savy cat. Obie is a typical puppy jumping up on people and dogs so this behavior is being worked on. He is crate and potty trained. Obie has a tendency to bark at new noises and dogs when walking. We had one of our trainers come out and work with him. The foster family is working with Obie on new techniques. He is a dog that would be happy to be home with you all day. He does play well with other dogs, but can be a little barky when first meeting him. This is one of the things we are working on. He also gets pretty stressed riding in the car so we are doing small trips to help get him over his anxiety. He is definitely a fun pup, that can be by himself or be by your side. Story
A kind Samaritan, Tina G., found "Charlie", wandering the street near her workplace on Dec. 22. Tina took him to the Stockton shelter and found out he was chipped. She tried contacting the owner and even walked to the address of record but no one was at the residence indicated on the chip and no one in the complex recognized Charlie. Tina took him to work and he became quite the favorite among her co-workers. Charlie LOVES being a part of a family. He is housebroken, rides great in a car, is comfortable with people of all ages, cats, dogs (both large and small), walks excellent on a leash, and has immpecable manners. We hope someone will open their heart and provide Charlie a forever home. FOSTERED IN PITTSBURG Adoption Form here

Story
Benji (formerly known as Junior) was found running the streets of Modesto in March and was picked up by Animal Control. By May, he was scheduled to be euthanized. One of our fosters saw his picture and read that he had only days left and decided she wanted to foster him. By all accounts so far, Cynthia reports that Benji is "incredibly easy to handle. Compliant, friendly, gentle, stays in his crate without whining. He's small for a GSD mix - only weighs 49lbs." She don't know yet if he is house trained but adult dogs learn much faster than puppies. We will continue to update his bio as more information is available.
