Story
Charmie is a young 2.5 year old and vibrant female German shepherd who was acquired from the Stanislaus Animal Services Agency in Modesto, CA. We are looking for Charmie to be placed in a forever home that will allow her to thrive, receive the love she deserves, and feel safe in her environment. She was in a shelter for a month and she was about to be euthanized before we got her from the shelter. We want Charmie to be in a home where she feels safe and secured. She has a lot of energy and loves a good belly rub. She enjoys playing fetch, very food driven, and enjoys being in the company of people she’s comfortable with. She is shy, but she warms to people when she gets more comfortable. Fetching is her favorite activity and would highly advise taking her to a safe park to give her a physical outlet. She enjoys walks, hikes, and having some outside time. She knows the basic commands such as sit, stay, drop it (during fetch with a ball), and down. She is very smart and learns fast.

Story
Winston has been a member of my family for five years. He is a loyal dog and a good boy. Unfortunately, due to life changes and a busy schedule, I can no longer keep him. As my heart breaks, I can only hope he goes to a loving home. His birthday is on Halloween. He loves to play with small dogs, almost as if he is one; he doesn't bark much and is friendly to most people. Winston is up to date on his shots and is a healthy dog. His behavior is good, and he gets excited when going for a walk. Overall, he is a good dog to have around the family.

Story
"Axel" was given to me by his former owner who had him since birth. I recently picked him a few months back to help the sick owner since he could no longer keep him. No paperwork was given so not sure if he has medical records. I was told he was roughly about 2 to 2 1/2 years old. Axel LOVES soccer balls and squeeky toys. No real training given by myself but he is super smart. He understands the words ball, sit, kennel, up. Oh and i forgot to mention he understand it in both english and spanish! Does slightly pull during walks but besides that he shows no agression towards other dogs or humans while on his waks. He does nibble on your hand to get the ball when playing but that can be fixed with training, Ive had my nephew and nieces outside with him with not 1 incident. My living situation has me downgrading and sadly can no longer take him with me. HATES sirens and fireworks.

Story
Hi, I am Meeko, and I just might be the perfect match for you.  I am a loyal, 8 year old, 62 pound pup looking for my forever home.  Here is what my foster says about me!  Meeko bonds easily to one person and craves closeness to that person.  She loves attention and affection, but when it comes to food, look out, given a choice between food and her person, food comes first so be mindful of food left out!  Her activities include at least two easy daily walks, car rides where she can put her nose out the window to do sniffing, settling in with family, napping, watching TV and just relaxing.  While outside, she will chase small animals, and other dogs, if given the opportunity.  Lastly she so wants to be with her person that she has a hard time being left alone and likes it best when her family is settled and she can relax.   Meeko would benefit from having an experienced adopter who is able to spend time with her and provide her with the leadership she sometimes needs.  In summation, Meeko is looking for a moderate to active home, and is a precious dog who is sure to bring her new family lots of warmth and love.  ##1915683##

Story
Kaia is a sweet, nine-year-old German Shepherd with a mellow, easy-going temperament and a heart full of love. She’s the ideal companion for a quiet home where she can relax and enjoy her peaceful surroundings. Though she loves having her people around, she’s comfortable napping alone when left at home. When she catches the scent of treats, though, she’s happy to get up and join the fun! Kaia does well in the car and enjoys peeking out the window, especially when there are new sights and smells to explore.Kaia is incredibly gentle and friendly, winning over hearts with her calm, affectionate nature. Kaia walks well on a leash and doesn’t pull, especially when it’s just her and her handler. While she may get excited and pull toward other dogs to say hello, she responds well to redirection and is learning commands like "look at me" to stay focused. When meeting other dogs, Kaia may get a bit excited, but with a calm and structured introduction, she’s comfortable around them after a day or two. She’d likely do best with a dog sibling who’s polite and has good manners, as Kaia mostly enjoys napping when other dogs are around and appreciates a calm, respectful companion. She thrives with gentle activities like sniffing, exploring, and using her favorite snuffle mat to forage for treats, which is her favorite way to “play.” Kaia is crate-trained and well-behaved at home, and she doesn’t mind a good bath or grooming session. If you’re looking for a loyal, gentle soul to welcome into your life, Kaia could be the perfect fit. ##2137810##

Story
Hi Prospective Adopters!  My name is MacKenzie T, a name I really like.  However, if you prefer you can call me Mac for short.  I am a male German Shepherd weighing about 52 lbs, and the shelter said I was 11 years old.  I still have lots of energy and since I am on a medical regimen to help my arthritis and pain issues, I am acting more like an 8 year old which turns out to be my estimated true age.  Well, OK, short walks are best for me and I do have some difficulty with stairs, but I am still a bouncy, friendly boy, good in the car, social, and pleasantly vocal.  Something I am proud of is that I am quick to learn, well behaved with large dogs and older kids.  Because I have lots of energy, I do tend to pull on the leash and can be reactive to other dogs and people depending on the situation.  I get very excited when people come to see me, especially at meal time, and will often try to jump on them.  I am slowly learning to control this behavior but I need to keep working on this.  I welcome a structured lifestyle where I know what is expected of me.  I have a zest for life even though I was found as a stray with no home to call my own.  We agree with MacKenzie!  Mac is a dog that will sweep you off your feet with his energic, friendly and loving nature.  Whoever takes him home, his caring and gratitude will always be present.  What a wonderful dog he is! ##2148094##

Story
Free Cali-K9 Elite In-Person Dog Training Package!! Luca is a female purebred malinois and will be 2 years old in February. She is an amazing girl - strong, smart, obedient, agile and very loving. She's comfortable staying home while we're at work with no destruction or potty issues. We have another dog and 2 cats which she gets along well with. I'd imagine she'd be fine with kids, but she's never been around one, so I'm not sure. I would say her only flaw is that if she's around a dog she doesn't like, she let's them hear about it :). I signed up for the Cali-K9 training because I wanted to do things like take her to work and be sure she wouldn't bark, but decided to save it for her new owner since I'm moving. Ideal Owner: - Provides significant playtime. She LOVES tug-o-war and fetch - Reinforces training. She's obedient, but if someone in the house doesn't enforce the rules, she'll walk all over them - PLAY. TIME.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Gentle-hearted ShepherdCoco is a 2.5 year-old Malinois / German Shepherd mix who weighs approximately 78lbs.  Coco is just a sweet, gentle-hearted boy. Curious, goofy, loving, and energetic - he loves everyone, and sees the best in them. Coco currently lives with two older 4-legged brothers and, while he would love to live with a fur-sibling, he is not part of a bonded pair. As long as he has fur friends to play with, Coco will be a happy boy! When playing with his human pals, Coco is very verbally responsive and wants to please. He knows several commands and loves to play complex games with his toys. When he gets a bit over-stimulated, he puts himself into a timeout under his foster family's kitchen table to rest and reset! Sweet Coco has been perfectly house trained since day one, loves car rides, loves to go for walks and is learning not to pull in excitement when he meets new friends - that is Everyone! Despite his size and youth, Coco does not need long hikes to manage his energy. 15-20 minutes a couple times a day and play sessions with his fur siblings are great exercise for Coco. Coco knows the benefit of "Sit", "Down" and "Touch" to get his favorite treats, and will benefit from continued positive reinforcement training. Her trainers delivered this report card: We are currently focusing on several key training areas: - Leash Pressure and Guidance: Sidney is learning to respond to leash pressure, which is helping her develop good walking habits.- Calmness at the Front Door: We are working on teaching Sidney to remain calm when entering and exiting the home, which will aid in managing her excitement.- Engagement: Sidney is an enthusiastic participant in training sessions, eager to learn and interact.- Basic Obedience Fundamentals: She is picking up essential commands and foundational skills quickly.- Crate Introductions: Sidney is adjusting well to crate training, starting to see it as a comfortable space.- Environmental Exposure: We are gradually introducing her to various environments to help her become more confident and adaptable.Overall, Sidney is a fun pup with a lot of drive, making her a joy to work with!Ideal Home/Adopter:Sidney would do best in a home without young children or small pets. She would thrive with a family that understands her breed genetics and is not a first-time pet owner. An active household that is confident in working with energetic dogs will be the perfect fit for Sidney, ensuring she receives the exercise and mental stimulation she needs to flourish.08/25/24 23:17DOG DAY OUT REPORT Today: my friend took me on a 6.5 mile jog around Shady Oaks Park, along Coyote Creek Trail and through Hellyer Industrial Park. I was so excited to go out that I was hopping around like Tigger as we got ready to go on our adventure. I was a bit nervous getting into the car, but my friend showed me what to do and after that, I was confident doing it on my own. On the trail, there were so many things to smell, I didn’t know what to do with myself - I was bouncing all over. There were lots of foxtails though, so we decided to jog for a while but once it was safe, my friend let me get in all the sniffs. There were a lot of distractions on our walk, and some I was nervous about, so my friend helped me through those moments. I also really enjoyed chasing all the squirrels. After our long jog, we cooled down in the shade, where I got treats and pets.Three Words to Describe Me are: Athletic, Sweet-natured, Vigilant
