Story
Niko is a 10 year old pure breed German Shepard. We’ve had Niko since he was a puppy. He is the sweetest dog. The best guard dog you will find. I sleep well at night knowing he is here. He’s grown up with my 3 children, 1 dog and 2 cats. Truly a gentle giant. It breaks my heart to have to let him go. I’m recently divorced, working full time and raising my 3 children on my own so I don’t have time and finances to take care of Niko. I want him to have a better life. I would love a person who could walk him daily, give him love and attention he deserves.

Story
Hi, I'm Max! I am a German Shepherd Mix, 4 years old, and very healthy. I'm good at my appts. I am very smart and handsome too! When I first met my owner and sister, it was love at first sight! I like to follow my owner everywhere, cuddle, very lovable and I'm told I'm a gentleman. I had a big sister, but she was small ;) On walks, I use a gentle leader and walk right beside my owner. She'd consider me medium-low energy, depending on what we're doing. I enjoy the dog park and running chasing balls, making my favorite toy sqeak, cuddling, biting at the waves, and especially hanging out with family and doggie friends. I'm crate trained, wear a sweater to bed and tolerate a costume or two! Codfish treats are my favorite treat! I'm good with strangers, children and other doggies. I know my commands, up, down, sit, stay, be gentle, off, leave it, shake, wait, go potty and give eye contact. I'd love to find a home full of love and attention. All I want is to be right next to you!-Max

Story
Clarissa T is the pawsfect dog!  She is an eight year old, spayed female, weighs about 85 pounds and is all that an adopter could ask for. Her energy level is low to moderate, and she enjoys being a couch potato.  She is house-trained, very affectionate, calm, friendly with people, OK with dogs, and great with kids. She will accept and give hugs anytime of the day, tail wagging. She also loves her walks, (on occasion will pull on the leash) loves car rides and is crate-trained. All in all, the pawsfect dog who will make a wonderful companion. ##1912876##

Story
Hi, I am Meeko, and I just might be the perfect match for you.  I am a loyal, 8 year old, 62 pound pup looking for my forever home.  Here is what my foster says about me!  Meeko bonds easily to one person and craves closeness to that person.  She loves attention and affection, but when it comes to food, look out, given a choice between food and her person, food comes first so be mindful of food left out!  Her activities include at least two easy daily walks, car rides where she can put her nose out the window to do sniffing, settling in with family, napping, watching TV and just relaxing.  While outside, she will chase small animals, and other dogs, if given the opportunity.  Lastly she so wants to be with her person that she has a hard time being left alone and likes it best when her family is settled and she can relax.   Meeko would benefit from having an experienced adopter who is able to spend time with her and provide her with the leadership she sometimes needs.  In summation, Meeko is looking for a moderate to active home, and is a precious dog who is sure to bring her new family lots of warmth and love.  ##1915683##

Story
Hi Prospective Adopters!  My name is MacKenzie T, a name I really like.  However, if you prefer you can call me Mac for short.  I am a male German Shepherd weighing about 52 lbs, and the shelter said I was 11 years old.  I still have lots of energy and since I am on a medical regimen to help my arthritis and pain issues, I am acting more like an 8 year old which turns out to be my estimated true age.  Well, OK, short walks are best for me and I do have some difficulty with stairs, but I am still a bouncy, friendly boy, good in the car, social, and pleasantly vocal.  Something I am proud of is that I am quick to learn, well behaved with large dogs and older kids.  Because I have lots of energy, I do tend to pull on the leash and can be reactive to other dogs and people depending on the situation.  I get very excited when people come to see me, especially at meal time, and will often try to jump on them.  I am slowly learning to control this behavior but I need to keep working on this.  I welcome a structured lifestyle where I know what is expected of me.  I have a zest for life even though I was found as a stray with no home to call my own.  We agree with MacKenzie!  Mac is a dog that will sweep you off your feet with his energic, friendly and loving nature.  Whoever takes him home, his caring and gratitude will always be present.  What a wonderful dog he is! ##2148094##

Story
Hello, my name is Mallory and I would like to start out by describing myself as a healthy, strong, seven year old female. I get along with humans and dogs alike (not sure about cats), am house-trained and know lots of commands.  I like walks; however, if I see a squirrel, or another moving object, I may pull on the leash, but after all I am a dog with lots of energy; and this is my nature.  My adoptive owner should know that I need a strong, athletic leader. to guide me becuase I am confident and can be assertive. The best part of me is that I am friendly, social, well-adjusted and you can count on me to be a people pleaser, friendly and who will seek out attention even though I can be somewhat aloof.  ##2159876##

Story
Meet Jennie T a super 8 year old German Shepherd. What is great about this lovely lady is that she is positive in her behavior and is very people-oriented. These traits reinforce her overall delightful and calm behavior. Jennie is smart, curious, does well on walks with good mobility and medium energy.  At times she will pull on the leash, but with her intelligence, willingness to learn, and her knowledge of basic commands such as “no”, “sit”, “down”, “come” will help her learn not to pull.  She enjoys car rides, walks, and getting a chance to sniff the air and listen to the sounds around her.  Overall, we feel she will do great in almost any household and will make a wonderful companion with a zest for life enhanced by her somewhat fun and independent personality.  She was a shelter favorite, singled out for special effort to get her rescued. We can understand why. We do not charge an adotion fee and all of our seniors come with a medical coverage plan.  ##2222581##

Story
Meet HarveyLuv T, a handsome dog who has a playful sense of humor, is friendly, and has a loving way about him.  He is good with older kids and good with large dogs, not so sure about cats.  He loves his walks, car rides, and enjoys being with and around humans and is a super snuggler with an affectionate manner about him.  HarveyLuv does well on a leash, but will pull occasionally depending what might catch his attention but then responds in a positive manner to being corrected.  What's great about him is that he is fully potty-trained, and know basic commands such as "no", "sit", "come" and more.  Added to the above, he has a great appetite, is goofy, vocal, and has medium energy.  We think he will settle in very well and become the loyal, balanced, and wonderful companion you've been searching for.  He is an all around love and waiting to meet you and his forever home. We do not change an adoption fee and all of our seniors come with a medical coverage plan. ##2223451##

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Gentle-hearted ShepherdCoco is a 2.5 year-old Malinois / German Shepherd mix who weighs approximately 78lbs.  Coco is just a sweet, gentle-hearted boy. Curious, goofy, loving, and energetic - he loves everyone, and sees the best in them. Coco currently lives with two older 4-legged brothers and, while he would love to live with a fur-sibling, he is not part of a bonded pair. As long as he has fur friends to play with, Coco will be a happy boy! When playing with his human pals, Coco is very verbally responsive and wants to please. He knows several commands and loves to play complex games with his toys. When he gets a bit over-stimulated, he puts himself into a timeout under his foster family's kitchen table to rest and reset! Sweet Coco has been perfectly house trained since day one, loves car rides, loves to go for walks and is learning not to pull in excitement when he meets new friends - that is Everyone! Despite his size and youth, Coco does not need long hikes to manage his energy. 15-20 minutes a couple times a day and play sessions with his fur siblings are great exercise for Coco. Coco knows the benefit of "Sit", "Down" and "Touch" to get his favorite treats, and will benefit from continued positive reinforcement training. Check out Coco's profile on Rocky Kanaka! https://rockykanaka.com/one-leg-short-but-full-of-heart-a-german-shepherds-inspiring-escape-from-adversity/  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.March 25, 2025, 6:40 pm

10/03/24 02:48Doggy Day Out Report Today I: went on my first doggie day out! I was sooooo excited and just wanted to go, go, go! I hopped in the car all by myself and explored everything I could in the back seat (I was thankful my friend put some toys in the back for me to play with). When we got to the park I was excited to stretch my legs and get some exercise, and to sniff all the new smells. Even though I was excited to walk and sniff I still made sure to check in with my friend often. I showed off my sit for lots of yummy treats and got lots of compliments on the trail about what a pretty girl I am. Three Words to Describe Me are: Active, Intelligent, Attentive Notes from My Walker: Cherina is a very energetic girl, it did take a few minutes to get her leashed up as she was very excited and wiggly. She has no problem getting in the car but make sure you don’t have anything in the back you don’t want her to get into as she will explore every inch of the car she can haha. I recommend having some toys in the back for her as she is very toy motivated and likes to have something to chew on. She was excited to get walking and she does pull but not unmanageably. Despite her excitement to be out and sniffing she checks in with her walker very frequently and is very attentive to you. She is extremely smart, she knows sit and down, and is very food/toy motivated - with consistent training she could learn many commands. When we stopped for a break she was very affectionate, wanting to snuggle up and get pets, she can get a little mouthy when petting but she is only a year old and still has some puppy mouthiness and jumpiness. Overall Cherina is an extremely intelligent and motivated dog, she needs a lot of mental and physical stimulation in her day to day life but she has the potential to be a very talented girl.

10/18/24 01:16Doggy Day Out ReportToday was so fun! My friend took me on a walk through a residential neighborhood and I loved checking everything out! There were so many things to see and smell! My friend said I walked nicely on the harness and that I was such a good girl. I showed off how pretty I can sit and how nicely I take treats. I love treats! My friend even started showing me new things like come and down. I like learning! We saw lots of dogs and I passed them politely. Squirrels are very interesting to me and I wanted to go check them out but my friend encouraged me to keep walking. I really loved my nice long walk, a break for cuddles at the park, and even a yummy bully stick on the ride home! What a great day!Three Words to Describe Me are: Adorable, Affectionate, SmartNotes from My Walker: Skylar sure is a cutie pie! She’s medium sized and estimated at a year old but has a permanent puppy face that is way too cute! We went for a long walk through Willow Glen and had a great time!Skylar walked nicely on the front clip harness and only pulled mildly towards squirrels – I agree, squirrels are fascinating! She loved to sniff and check everything out. We saw a lot of dogs and she passed them all politely. (At the shelter, she participates in doggie playgroups!) She was not reactive to anything – dogs, cars, people, strollers. She was startled a couple times at sudden movements or loud noises, but she recovered very quickly and was happy to continue on our walk.Skylar still has some puppyish manners like mouthing when I harnessed her and in the car, but she doesn’t apply any pressure. Overall, she was such a good girl and she will grow out of her mouthing in a home with regular exercise and socializing.Skylar is very food motivated and knows sit and loves to show it off for treats and she takes treats gently. She is a smart girl and was quickly understanding the commands come and down!Skylar is very affectionate and loves to crawl into your lap. We sat on the grass at a park and she was such a happy wiggly girl to get extra love. I really enjoyed my day with this adorable sweetheart! She will make someone a lovely companion.
