Story
Animal Profile: Kimber is a beautiful 5-year-old, 54 lb female German Shepherd who was found wandering as a stray and taken to Everett Animal Shelter. When the shelter environment was too stressful for her, we gave her a "jail break" and she's now in our foster care. Kimber has been waiting for a forever home since November 2021. Please share and help her find her forever family! Foster Update: Kimber is affectionate and bonds quickly with her person. She is looking for an adopter who is experienced with high-energy dogs and is willing to continue working with her. She loves lounging in the house and looking out the windows. Her ideal home environment would be an adult-only household with working breed experience and a securely fenced yard. She has completed a 4-week board and train program with Lugaru K9 Training to address leash reactivity. Kimber can now walk nicely on leash and knows the following commands: sit, down, place, heel and leave it. She's not a candidate for dog parks as she easily gets over aroused and needs slow introductions to other dogs.  Adoption Info: Adoption fee is $550 which includes spay/neuter, all core vaccinations, microchip, heartworm test and health certificate. Your adoption fee may be tax deductible as Dog Gone Seattle is a federal 501c3 organization.  Apply online: www.doggoneseattle.org/adoption-applicationAugust 19, 2024, 12:18 am

Story
Animal Profile: Freya is an estimated 4-year-old, 60 lb female German Shepherd who has a lot of love to give. She is smart and loves to work for you. She will thrive with a strong leader --  otherwise she is prone to anxiety. She is house trained, crate trained, fully obedience trained and will do best with a Shepherd-savvy owner capable of providing her with guidance as well as physical and mental stimulation. Freya LOVES to fetch and BALL IS LIFE. She walks well on a leash with a training collar. This loyal and affectionate girl is slow to warm up to new people and will need an owner who is comfortable managing her safe introductions to strangers, but once you earn her trust, she's very eager to please. Freya has lived with other dogs and loves to play with them; she's good with dogs big and small, male and female. At this time we are prioritizing a home for Freya with a resident dog(s) as we think she would do best in a pack. She's also been tested with cats and exhibits no prey drive, and is amusingly scared of chickens. She is currently living in a home with small children and has done well with them, but we would prefer to place her in an adult-only home.  Adopter Profile:  Large dog experience required Shepherd experience preferred Single family residence required (no apartments) Secure fenced yard required Other balanced dog(s) preferred Cats OK No kids preferred Adoption Info: Adoption fee is $400 which includes spay/neuter, all core vaccinations, microchip, heartworm test and health certificate. Your adoption fee may be tax deductible as Dog Gone Seattle is a federal 501c3 organization.  TAKE HOME TRAINING SESSION INCLUDED WITH ADOPTION Apply online: www.doggoneseattle.org/adoption-application Animal History: Freya was found as a stray in Dec 2020 in Tacoma extremely underweight (40 lbs) and very scared. She was taken into Tacoma Humane Society and transferred to Dog Gone Seattle. She was fostered with DGS for several months while she learned basic manners and gained 15 lbs. She was adopted in March 2021 and lived with a caring family. Unfortunately they lived in a condo with no secure yard in a busy urban environment, which proved too challenging for Freya with those particular owners. She was returned to DGS in April 2022 and received a professional board and train with our training partner Seattle K9 Command. She is now being fostered in Bothell and available for adoption in the greater Seattle area.  August 19, 2024, 12:18 am

Story
Jazzy is an 18-month-old female German Shepherd  who -- along with her three siblings -- was abandoned in eastern WA and taken in by Quincy Animal Shelter. They were transferred and will be fostered in Seattle to learn crate and house training, basic obedience and social skills. We will share more as we get to know Jazzy in foster care.   Foster Update: Jazzy is a beautiful German Shepherd pup with the personality to match! She is an active girl who would love to go on adventures with you. She loves people and always wants to be by your side. She especially likes to sleep cuddled up next to someone. Jazzy is dog friendly and likes to play outside with her foster dog brothers. If you're looking for an active pup who will want to be your best friend and adventure buddy, Jazzy's a wonderful girl! She will do best in a home with large-breed dog experience, a securely fenced yard, and another dog in the home. Jazzy is interested in cats, and wants to chase them so may be best if there are no cats in the home.  Adoption Info:  The adoption fee is $550, which includes spay/neuter, core vaccinations per AVMA standards, flea/tick treatment, deworming, and microchip with lifetime registration. Your adoption fee may be tax deductible as DGS is a 501c3 organization. Animal History: This animal was dumped at less than 4 months in Mattawa WA and taken into Quincy Animal Shelter; WSU was able to provide vetting and they arrived to Dog Gone Seattle Foster care on Thursday 3/9/23. S/he will be available for adoption to the greater Seattle area once evaluated in foster care.   August 19, 2024, 12:18 am

Story
Animal Profile: Jerry is a friendly 3-year-old German Shepherd that was adopted from another organization in 2023. Unfortunately, his owner's circumstances have changed and Jerry is being left alone far more often than he likes. Jerry’s owner contacted us for help when the original rescue was unable to assist with rehoming Jerry. We met and evaluated him, and had to help this sweet boy find a family that has more time to meet his needs. Jerry is a social, friendly pup who’s lived with other dogs and children. He’s completed a 5-week board and train with Amani K9 and is very well trained. His adoption also includes a take-home lesson with his trainer. Jerry is house trained, crate trained, and knows all of his basic commands reliably. He’s easy to introduce to new dogs, and has frequented dog parks in his area. Jerry will be a wonderful companion for a family with large-breed experience. He will do best in a single family dwelling, no apartments.    Foster Update Coming soon! Story
ANIMAL PROFILE: Kiah, Indian for new beginning, is just what this girl deserves after bouncing from one bad home to another for her first year of life. She is an approximately one year old, 50 lb spayed female German Shepherd. Despite her rough beginning she is eager to learn to trust and show her goofy, playful side. She is being fostered with Double Down Dog Training and we will share more info as we get to know her in foster care.  FOSTER UPDATE: Kiah is a typical energetic GSD youngster that bonds quickly to her person. She loves to play tug and fetch. She is extremely affectionate and loooves her evening massages. She is really good in the crate, walks well on a leash, and knows basic commands including a really solid recall. Kiah is truly the epitome of a people pleaser but also has some mild uncertainty when first being introduced to newcomers and will get barky if they are too forward with her right off the bat, so a human that understands that dogs like this just need to feel advocated for is going to be her best match. She is dog friendly with proper introductions and currently living with two other GSD's (one male and one female) as well as two other mixed breed dogs. She does well with dogs of all sizes but can be a lot of dog for the lazy ones or small dogs that can not hold their own space. She can and will respect the dogs space but needs a human that will require that of her.   Adopter Profile: Large breed experience required Single family residence required Other balanced dogs OK Dog savvy cats OK Dog savvy children considered on case by case basis Adoption Info: Kiah's adoption fee is $550 which includes her spay, core vaccinations per AVMA standards, fecal test and microchip with lifetime registration. Adoption fee may be tax deductible as Dog Gone Seattle is a 501c3 organization.  Apply online: www.doggoneseattle.org/adoption-application Animal History: Kiah was picked up by Bothell Animal Control stuck in North Creek and after tracking down the owners, the police learned she had been dumped and the owners elected to euthanize at Everett Animal Shelter. Bothell PD reached out to DGS and we accepted her to foster care on February 15, 2024.August 19, 2024, 12:18 am

Story
Animal Profile: Leo fka Robb is an estimated 3-year-old male Shepherd mix who was adopted as a young puppy after we accepted him from California where he was found as a stray in a Chino dumping zone along with his sibling Sansa and mom Catelyn. He joined us in Seattle on 10/10, along with Sansa and Catelyn. Leo was returned to the rescue after a couple of years due to a divorce in the family, lacking socialization and training. He was fostered with a trainer for several weeks and is now thriving and ready for a loving forever home.  Seattle Foster Update: Leo has progressed well in his time with us as a foster. When Leo arrived to us from training he was moderately reactive, but quickly blossomed to a friendly, tail wagging, bouncy boy. Leo is in a word eccentric. He is a cuddle bug and a hermit and assumes the oddest positions imaginable to get close to his owners. He is crate trained perfectly and enjoys the safe environment the crate provides for him. If you’re unwilling to give Leo a crate then you’re not the right home for him. He needs his escape and downtime to be the best boy. Leo warms up slowly to new people and dogs, and his new owners should be selective in dog introductions as he will react if confronted and doesn’t like in your face dog encounters. He plays well with male Collie and male Malinois and he has a firm truce with our selective female Bulldog. He lives with our cats and is completely disinterested in them. So, cat friendly. Leo will never be a dog park dog. So no dog parks. We don’t have kids in the household so don’t have awareness there. He has no food aggression but he's still working on taking treats gently. Leo will be a great hiking buddy and walks beautifully on leash. He doesn’t have marked stranger danger but again the policy will likely be "please don’t pet my dog without proper introductions." Adopter Profile: Dog experience required Fenced yard required Other dog/dogs in the home a plus Cats okay Older kids okay Adoption Info: Adoption fee is $500, which includes spay/neuter, current rabies/DAPPV/bordetella vaccinations, microchip, health certificate, and heartworm test. All adoption fees are donations to a Washington non-profit corporation and all donations go to benefit the animals in our rescue.  Apply online at www.DogGoneSeattle.org  August 19, 2024, 12:18 am

Mercury is a loyal, curious, and active dog who loves the outdoors. He loves to play fetch and go on hikes. He is full of personality and always makes us laugh with his facial expressions. Mercury is intelligent and can always find his favorite ball when we play hide and seek. He loves training sessions and is eager to learn new skills. When you become his person, he will become your little shadow and always be there for you. Mercury is anxious and needs a patient, loving owner. He does well when you show and explain things to him. He would thrive in a one pet household of a owner who is active. We are looking for a owner who is female, Mercury has a distrust of men and would do best in a female home.

Odin is two years old. He’s extremely good with kids. He’s good with other animals but does like to bark when being walked. He has a tendency to pull when any walk first starts because he’s excited. Loves to play and run outside. Rehoming due to the fact he doesn’t have a backyard and we’re not there often enough to take him out to go potty.

Story
I bought Maggie a year and a half ago. I trained her daily and she only struggled with barking when passing another dog. I took her to Petcos puppy class and realized she was barking because she was afraid. In September, I was diagnosed with MDS, a serious blood cancer. I was hospitalized, had a bone marrow transplant, and am slowly recovering. Of course, I had to have my sister take Maggie for a while, then my niece, and back to me, but I was too weak to get her the exercise she needed. I still can barely walk a mile with her. I do take her to a dog park almost daily and she’s good with my cocker spaniel puppies. While I was going through treatment my son and his two dogs moved into my house, for about two months, and when Maggie finally came home, she and my son's dog got in a bad fight, and my confused puppy hurt my sons dog. Now he insists I rehome her. It’s killing me, but I need his help with my disease. If you’re interested in giving her the home she deserves, please respond.

Story
Gunner is a 3-year-old German Shepherd who has been a lively and loving member of our family since we got him at 8 weeks old. He has endless enthusiasm for play, especially with his favorite ball and pig-shaped toy, and he’s always up for a game of fetch. Gunner is also a strong swimmer and loves to chase his ball into the water. A year after we welcomed Gunner into our lives, we had our daughter, and the two quickly became best friends. Gunner is gentle, patient, and wonderful with children, making him a joy to have around. He's incredibly sweet and loyal but needs more time and space than we can provide. Unfortunately, we’re moving out of state and need to find him a new forever home. The perfect family for Gunner would have a fenced-in yard where he can run and play to his heart's content, as well as an active lifestyle that includes plenty of outdoor activities. Gunner is great with other dogs and children, so a home with both would be an ideal fit for him.

Story
Toby is a 5-6 year old, 90-100lb Shepherd mix who is looking for his perfect forever home. Toby was abused in his past and due to this will need a very specific family. He is very sweet and loyal with his people once he is bonded. Toby is looking for a home that has a fully fenced yard out of the city. Somewhere rural and quiet would be perfect for him! He prefers women to men and can take some time to trust men. His ideal home would be female only, but could do ok with a female/male couple if the man was patient and could build trust with him. Toby needs a home without kids and other animals. No other dogs or cats. Toby can walk fine on leash around other dogs but needs to be the only dog in the home. Toby loves to run and play and will love to spend time with his people in his backyard soaking up the sun and running around. Toby is neutered, UTD on shots and microchipped. His adoption fee is $200.

Story
Animal Profile: Buttercup is a 3-year-old, 55 lb spayed female "Texas Brown Dog" who joined us from Texas on 7/15/22 as an unsure adolescent. We have worked diligently with her in training to improve her confidence so she can be successful in her forever home. Foster Update: This young and energetic girl will do anything for a treat and very much wants to please her humans. She is building confidence; however, her anxious energy translates to reactivity at times. Off-leash she greets humans with excitement or indifference both in the house and the yard. She is doing well with the three large resident male dogs in the house after structured integration. She can play all day and has benefited from dog companions who can gently correct and/or join in her exuberance, as well as lead her in confident appropriate behaviors. She is potty trained and crate trained and often goes into her crate on her own to relax. While in foster care, Buttercup has received training from Bulletproof Balanced Training; her adopter will receive a private take-home training session. This girl is destined to be a wonderful loving member of her forever pack.
