Great news! My adoption fee has been paid by someone who loves me and wants me to find a great home. Here's what you need to know about me:I'm not on the general adoption floor. You might not see me when you come to visit. So please speak to an adoption counselor if you'd like to meet me.I would do best with a family experienced with my breed. I have some behaviors that are typical for my breed and would do best with a family who understands my needs.I'd like a relaxed home. I wouldn't say I'm "old"... I've just been around for a while. And that's made me appreciate the finer things in life like naps in the sun, looking out windows, and the special joy when you're able to scratch juuuuust the right spot. I like to take it easy at home - I'm not up for lots of activity.I'm available for Trial Adoption! If you're interested in taking me home for 2 weeks before making a final decision, please email adoptions@southwesthumane.org. Story
I've been in the shelter longer than most and my adoption fee has been paid by someone who loves me.I'm a 1-year-old German Shepherd with a heart full of love and an excitement for life that's contagious! I'm an excitable girl who's prone to bursts of energy, always ready for a game of fetch or an adventure. I love toys and will happily entertain myself or engage you in playtime, keeping my active mind and body engaged. While I'm affectionate and love attention, I can easily become wound up with too much excitement, so a calm and balanced approach to affection will help me thrive. I'm a loyal companion, and once I bond with you, you'll have a friend for life. I'm reported to be good with dogs, so I may do well in a home with a canine companion, but I need to be in a home without cats. I'm available for the trial adoption program. If you're looking for an energetic, loving, and playful pup who's ready to keep you on your toes, I could be the perfect match for you! Come meet me today and see if I'm the right fit for your family! Primary Color: Tan Weight: 80 Age: 1yrs 2mths 0wks

Story
Kora is a home body but is energetic going for walks. She likes to hop at the back door when she see you and wants in. Likes to cuddle. She will only barks at other dogs from the fence but does not bark at doorbells or knocks. She does whine when someone is at the door. Perfectly healthy. Last vet visit was 2/18/25. She gets along with other dogs just but not cats.

What my friends at OHS say about me:Hi! I'm Corduroy, but my friends here call me Roy!I have been working with the Behavior team at OHS and I'm looking for a special home. It will take time and patience to get to know me. Click the "meet me" button to start the process and schedule an appointment. To learn more about my specific needs, please read my What to Expect handout.I love to learn! You can use my favorite toys or treats as positive reinforcement and to teach me new things. I already know some basic cues such as, sit, stay, and walking nicely on leash.Shy and Nervous: I can be worried about new people, new surroundings and touch. I prefer to take things at my own pace and will need to live in a calm environment.Give me a little time to adjust and I will show you I am the biggest sweetheart.High Energy: I can become easily frustrated if my energy and exercise needs are not met. I will need positive outlets and a calm environment to help me flourish.I'm a sporty guy! Mental enrichment and activities are very important for my well-being. The type of home I'm looking for:I lived with cats in my last home, but sometimes they can make me nervous. I may do best in a home without cats or with dog savvy cats. I will need to meet any canine companions prior to getting adopted. I need to go to a home without small children. I may accidently knock them over or try to steal their toys to play with.It could be with you! Click here to learn about the adoption process. Story
Pie, our 75 pound 1 year old mix, looks to be mostly German Shepherd. However, we're convinced she's at least 30% mermaid. Rain doesn't slow Pie down; in fact, she bee-lines toward any puddle just to get her fins, ahem, her paws wet. We also think Pie is 20% parkour-loving kangaroo, 40% Squirrel Spotting Retriever (not currently an AKC breed), and 80% lap dog. Although math is not our strong suit, we are good at spotting excellent dogs. Excellent Pie is ready to find her people. Pie was taken to the shelter as a stray after being hit by a car. She sustained a fracture to her right tibia (shin bone) that was surgically repaired by the shelter. They asked us to help Pie as she healed. Although the surgeon at the shelter did a great job, Pie's fracture site got infected, and it took weeks and weeks of antibiotics to clear it up. Her most recent X-rays were perfect, and if you saw Pie's kangaroo parkour skills, you'd never know anything was wrong with her. Our Pie LOVES other dogs. She would thrive in a home with another similar sized dog who also wants to play all day. She is friendly, sweet, and wakes up every morning with a wagging tail. Pie is crate and potty trained. She also knows a lot of commands. Pie enjoys learning new things and if we had to pick one adjective to describe her, it would be "enthusiastic". Toys? Yes, all of them. Walks? Can't get enough. Gardening? Down-hill skiing? Sure, all of it. Pie just wants to be involved. Pie needs an active adopter who can appreciate that Pie is basically a big, affectionate puppy. She'd love a running/hiking buddy. We have not seen Pie with cats, but assume she may be a bit big for a cat who isn't dog-savvy. Pie is good with kids over 8. Heartworm negative, Pie is current on her preventatives and is microchipped. To find Pie her perfect home, her adoption fee has been sponsored! Apply to adopt at www.stumptownstrays.org

Story
*Currently fostered in Houston Texas, available for out of state adoptions via rescue transportation. Video meet and greet available prior to commitment* This dog is a collaborative effort between Moka's Mission and Houston Chow Chow Connection. Mocha is a fluffy mixed pup just eager to find her new lease in life. She was rescued from a kill shelter in Texas just moments before being euthanized. She is believed to be around 4 years old, and based on behaviors definitely has GSD, Chow Chow, and even possibly husky mixed in her as well. Current weight around 65, 70 lbs. Mocha is a smiling, eager to please, extremely intelligent pup who clearly has been desperate for reaching a potential that was never offered to her prior. She loves to play with toys now, ( was unfamiliar with on arrival) and can be quirky, and vocal during her playful bouts. A game of tug which result in some head pats is her favorite. She also is very smart, and when given attention and motivation is quick to learn. She already knows several basic commands including sit, shake, kennel, wait, settle, and leave it. She is extremely versatile and once she trusts you, will give you her best. If you want to go hiking or exercise, she is all about it. If you want a pup to relax in the home and enjoy a movie day, she is ready! She loves to curl up on the couch or at your feet when it's time to settle down, but when it's time to go she is the first one to be there and ready for you. She also loves to keep you company while you do the most menial house chore's such as laundry or dishes. Mocha clearly was kept away from other dogs and animals when she was owned previously, so we do think she'd be best as an only pup. Proper continued socialization training would be required in order for her to eventually be able to share space with other dogs, but she would need to be socialized as an only dog first before considering adding another in. She clearly has a desire to want to know other dogs and can walk by them and flirt while on leash just fine during walks. However, she hasn't had enough time and proper playmates to engage in playtime at present without being rough. Unfortunately, she is not ok with cats, which is to be expected of the breeds she possesses. Mocha is fully vetted meaning she is up to date on vaccinations, spayed, microchipped and on monthly prevention for flea, tick, and heartworm. Her adoption fee and transport is dependent on services used. For more information on Mocha, please contact us at MokasMission@Gmail.com, or to apply for adoption please fill out an application here: https://form.jotform.com/41173109602142

Story
Meet Major – a friendly, affectionate, and loyal 80lb German Shepherd mix looking for a new home. At 5 years old, Major is well-mannered, gentle, and great with kids and cats. He’s a true companion who loves to be by your side, whether that means cuddling on the couch, going for walks, or simply relaxing in your presence. Major can get a bit excited when passing other dogs on walks, but he’s doing really well with training and is improving every day. With continued consistency and patience, he’ll thrive in a home where his new family can help him continue his progress. Sadly, I’m getting older and no longer have the strength to handle his size and energy. This decision is incredibly difficult for me, but I want Major to find a home where he’ll be happy, loved, and well-cared for. I know he has so much love to give, and I want the best for him in his next chapter. If you’re looking for a loyal, loving companion, Major could be the perfect fit for your family.

Story
German Sheperd (3yrs old). It was given to me when he was still a puppy. He had few days of training when he was weeks old. I would say an intelligent dog he can learn anything if given time. He still have an issue being alone and tries to destroy something unintented. He is a very loyal and protective dog. He can understand , Sit, Down, Find the ball, but never returns the ball lol. I could have trained him more tricks but I am so busy and my space is not that big either. Lately, I acquired a small house and Zeus is too big for my space and occupies almost every space. He needs a new home where he can run, play and be a dog. I hope he can find a home sooner. He is a really good dog. Just need more trainings. Also, Dont feed him chicken, even treats. Only give him beef flavored kibbles. He can have upset stomach if given some.
