Story
Dusty is the sweetest, gentlest, most affectionate guy with the best disposition. He's 65 pounds, a gorgeous tri-color boy with brown tones and with blue/green heterochromia eyes. His ideal home would be an active home with runners or hikers looking for an adventure buddy. Whatever you’re doing, he’s totally down. He would be a great family dog as he absolutely adores kids and babies. My daughter accidentally fell on his face once, and he didn’t flinch. He’s absurdly soft and loves to snuggle. At 3, he’s still got a lot of puppy in him. The good news is he’s past the chewing & potty training phase and every day he becomes calmer and more confident. He is fully trained, including crate-trained. He knows basic commands and is housebroken. Some things to work on might be adjustments to his leash training and desensitizing him to things that get him excited. But honestly, he is the perfect candidate for someone who doesn’t want the work and time commitment of raising a puppy (which can be a full-time, sleepless gig!). He’s a young spry dog that’s ready to join you whether it’s on the trails or at the brewery. He needs a lot of exercise and loves going on long runs on a frequent basis. He is also very smart and would do well with a home that’s willing to give him plenty of attention and activities. Although he’s shown to be on our couch in one of these photos (whoops), he’s since been trained to stay off couches and beds. He is healthy and up to date with all vaccines. He is hilarious and, like a lot of huskies, sings when he’s happy and can be vocal with his feelings. He could use some additional work containing that excitement sometimes but has shown a lot of improvement since we’ve had him. He is friendly and very playful with most other dogs, (but it’s always good to go slow at those first interactions). He has been boarded and groomed before and also been to dog parks and did well. He loves his older foster brother and has learned so much from him. He would do well in a home with other dogs, but we could also see him being extremely happy as the only dog in the home so that he could get his undivided attention. Who is ready for unconditional love?   To meet this handsome fella, please put in an application at www.eapl.com. His adoption fee is $375. August 19, 2024, 7:58 pm

Willow is a whip-smart beauty looking for a home full of adventure. She is great with other dogs and rides wonderfully in the car. She is crate trained (although can be loud when alerting she needs to potty) and doing well learning to potty outside. She is also learning leash walks, sit, and the "crate command. She would be amazing for someone looking for a companion to do lots of training/hiking!

Story
Little Beatrice was quite shy when she came down with her siblings, but she has come out of her shell, and loves being in a home with food and air conditioning! More than anything, Miss Beatrice loves children and is drawn to them immediately. She is gentle and sweet, and would do well with just about everyone. She loves to snuggle with her people and play with her siblings and other dogs. Beatrice has a beautiful soul; she is not insistent or overbearing, and she just enjoys being loved and given attention. She is about 11 weeks old and weighs 15 pounds. She is agile and intelligent, fun and a little independent when she wants to stay outside. She walks really well on a leash, and loves meeting anyone that walks by. Bea is almost house trained and is such a cuddler. She is going to be an amazing dog for any family!

Story
Happy is your typical Husky: an energetic, friendly, smart, extroverted goofball in a large package. Happy is great getting into a harness and leash, he does pull when walking but is very easily redirected. We don’t think Happy was crated in his previous life so crate training will be an ongoing learning process for him- he seems to do better in a travel crate rather than a wire kennel. Happy is extremely friendly and loves playing with other dogs. He knows how to sit, stay and paw. As Happy learns what life is like out of the shelter, including food coming on a regular basis, he gets more trusting everyday.  ##2078429##

Story
Meet Nova. Nova has had a rough start to her life, stranded out on the hot, dry Houston streets. Unfortunately for her, for who knows how long nobody batted an eye at this poor naked dog, suffering on the streets. Thankfully and finally, Nova was picked up and brought to the shelter... You'd think this was when she was rescued, however due to her hair loss from dermatitis the shelter placed her on the euthanasia list within just a few days. Farfel's Rescue received a plea email from our Houston rescue partners to save Nova's life, just hours from her scheduled euthanasia, and we knew we had to help her. We saw her potential that was ignored just because she doesn't look perfect. Nova was scooped up from the scary shelter, and placed immediately in a foster home. Nova has now been in a foster home for a month and a half, receiving medicated baths, coconut oil rub downs, and LOTS of love! Nova is a Husky, although we know it's hard to tell without her long fluffy coat. She has been fully treated for her skin condition, and now it is just a matter of time and tlc and soon her hair will be Colorado-winter-ready! Nova is only 1 year old, and 35 lbs. From Nova's foster: * * * * "Nova has been doing great! She settled in very nicely. She has been with us for 2 weeks now, so I wanted to share some more info about her and her wonderful personality: She is very friendly and sweet. She is affectionate with people and friendly with other dogs that she meets, and great with our dog in the house too. Nova loves to cuddle, and is doing very well with housetraining! She is learning quickly and benefitted from a routine. She's treat motivated and catching on quickly! She sleeps all night quietly in the crate with no issues! Enters the crate with a high value treat. She is young and eager to learn. She is treat motivated and wants to please!! She did well with learning some basic commands such as "sit" and “no”. She is very people friendly! Loves everyone! Greets neighbors & visitors politely. Very social. And she is an A+ cuddler!! Loves to be with you on your lap. Cuddles on the couch. She eats well, does great at the vet, and I've rarely heard her bark. Her favorite toys are soft plushy toys. Her favorite things to do are sniffing in the yard, playing with toys, or taking walks. Her favorite treats are pieces of chicken. She also rides great in the car. Her skin is starting to heal and she is looking so much better. She has beautiful blue eyes and such a sweet personality! I am sure once her skin heals and her fur grows back she will be a beautiful dog. She is a really sweet, wonderful pup!" * * * * Nova could be that dream come true best friend for an active family who enjoy spending their time with a very sweet and engaging companion. The Husky is a perfect choice for those who are searching for a super-smart, loyal, and very loving family dog. Huskies are active, so an active family or individual is a must. Huskies require lots of physical, but also mental stimulation. An adopter with prior Husky experience is not necessary, but a plus! Nova represents the best qualities found in Huskies. We would love to see Nova in a home that includes her in family time and activities...she's appropriately playful and fun-loving and would thrive in a family that truly loves her and considers her a very important family member. She will be a wonderful companion for active, fun-loving individual or family who have the time and energy to give a Husky the proper exercise and stimulation that she needs! She would also fit in well with a family that works from a home-based office and loves to have a best companion to love up throughout the day. We feel that Nova is too social a girl to be left alone for the long hours of full-time employment outside of the home. She doesn't require another dog to be happy if her people are very present and involved...but does enjoy her canine relationships with playful and gentle dogs. Huskies are famous for their sharp intelligence! They use this intellect during their participation in training classes and therefore are very successful in learning skills and commands. It's for these reasons that we require adopters to sign up for positive reinforcement group (or personal, if preferred) training classes. She'll be a class star (which builds high self-esteem) while bonding with her family and learning her skills in a very positive way. Through this training, Nova will become a well-behaved dog that can accompany her family out in the world with excellent behavior. Farfel's is happy to provide a list of approved positive reinforcement/ force-free trainers in your area. Farfel's Rescue feels very strongly that every dog deserves the opportunity for formal, positive reinforcement/force-free training. We therefore aren't willing to adopt out to a home that doesn't choose to offer this training opportunity. Farfel's is happy to provide a list of approved positive reinforcement/force-free virtual and in-person trainers in your area. Nova is up to date on her vetting/vaccinations to be in line with our commitment to only adopting out healthy dogs. She is not yet spayed, but Farfel's covers the full cost of her spay, which is required to finalize any adoption. Farfel's Rescue is a fully foster based rescue, and offers a one week trial with every adoption. We feel that this is much more beneficial to not only the dog, but the adopter too. We believe that only getting 20-30 minutes with a dog before deciding on a lifetime commitment is not a fair amount of time to the adopter, or the dog. Therefore we give adopters one week with the dog to assure it is the right fit, and offer a full refund of their adoption fee should it not workout within the week trial. Farfel's Rescue has been doing adoptions this way since 2005 and is thrilled to adopt out ~400 dogs each year. If you are interested in adopting from us, please be sure to fill out our adoption application at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/ .
