Story
Age:   approx 2 years old   Weight: 28  lbs My adoption fee is $475   which includes transportation charges to the Northeast. Dukesy is an indoor boy that was being left outdoors by his last owner, so up and over the fence he would go to find his own friends. Unfortunately his current owners weren't home enough to keep him and opted to surrender him. In foster we have learned that Dukesy is crate trained and housetrained. He is off with any dog he plays with. He runs up with a stout meet and play and off they go ! We have also learned that he LOVES bunnies. Typical of his breed mix of Jack Russell/Beagle. He LOVES traveling, LOVES people and LOVES living life ! He is a best friend and confidant. He's a right hand buddy for sure. This one eyed bandit is ready for his forever home. (We do not know how he lost his eye but it was surgically removed).   If you serious about adopting, the first step is to fill out an adoption application on our website:   https://www.smalldogrescuene.org/December 29, 2024, 6:17 pm

Story
Adoption Donation   $ 299 Located:  RI  (Transportation costs included to the Northeast , plz ask for more details ) Age: approx.  11.5  years old as of 6/7/24 Weight:  21  lbs   My name is Betty Boop, but everyone calls me BB.  I’m a 20 lb. Jack Russel terrier, 11 yrs old, spayed, microchipped, house broken, up-to-date on all my shots and looking for a loving home that wants a “Love Bug”. I love kids, teens and adults, but not cats or dogs.  I’m selfish and only want to be your only pet.    Don’t be fooled by my 11years because I do enjoy playing and have lots of life in me.  I’m a good little lady who is well trained and won’t ever chew on anything of yours.  I’m not even tempted by smelly slippers or socks.  I love walks and like to go out patrol the neighborhood, check out the rabbits, squirrels and the new turkeys who recently flew in the neighborhood.  What I would do to be off my leash to run after them.  I’m hanging out with my Foster Mom in Rumford, RI.  I really want to be loved and give love to an elder, couple or a family who only wants me for their Love-Bug Pet.  I listen well, very smart and fall in love at first sight.  My favorite is cuddling while watching TV with you. NOTE from Foster Mom:  BB traveled here from Mississippi.  Her previous owner had her since she was a puppy and had to move in with her parents to care for them due to health problems and had to give her up.  She is an absolute sweetheart.   If you are interested in adopting me, please fill out an application on our website  www.fohari.org  and email my foster parent for more information:  judyantonelli7@gmail.com Please verify the location and readiness of this dog with us.  Because we save lives from various locations through out the United States, some dogs may not be in New England yet, nor ready for immediate adoption.   Our adoption application can be found here: https://fohari.org/application/  Our Adoption Process:   Go to our website and select the animal you are interested in. ALL animals are in foster homes as we do NOT have a  shelter where you can visit. Some animals are in foster care in New England, and some are located in other states. If the initials following the animals name are a state, then that is the state where the animal is located. If initials are not a state, then those are the initials of the foster home outside of New England and you will not be able to meet the animal ahead of time. Complete our online application You will be contacted by phone or email by the foster parent  or a member of our adoption team and will have the opportunity to find out more about the animal, and ask any questions that you have to ensure the animal is a good fit for your household. If the animal is local, you can meet the animal, but you would not be able to take the dog home until you are approved to adopt.  From our end, we will check references and schedule a home visit.  If you live in an apartment, or a condo, we will need to verify permission to own the animal from your landlord or condo board. Please let your vet’s office and references know we will be contacting them. If your  references are positive, we will schedule a home visit by a volunteer. Please try to accommodate the home visit volunteer as most  have busy schedules. Delays in the visit will result in a delay in the adoption. Once you are approved, you will receive an e-mail with your  adoption contract attached. This e-mail will have details about pick up, the balance of the adoption fee that is owed, etc. Please email your signed & witnessed contract and pay your adoption fee in full, and for any animals located out of state, you will be contacted for details about transport to New England. Once you have paid your adoption fee in full and sent back your contract, you can make arrangement to pick up your animal from the foster home or from transport depending on where the animal is located. Please bring a harness, collar, ID tag and leash when you are picking up the dog unless otherwise instructed by the foster parent. Our extensive approval process is intended to ensure the best fit between our animals and adopters. Friends of Homeless Animals (FOHA) reserves the right to deny any adoption application with or without disclosure of cause. Your adoption fee helps to cover the cost of all age appropriate vetting and transportation. FOHARI.ORG makes no explicit or implicit guarantees in reference to the health, temperament and/or the breed of the animal. The animal is adopted ‘as is’, and the adopter assumes all responsibility for treatment of any and all existing conditions or any other conditions of physical or temperament changes that may occur. FOHARI.ORG will provide the animal with the basic vaccines, heart worm test and sterilization of dogs and cats before adoption if the age and current health of the animal permits. While FOHARI.ORG makes every effort to place only healthy animals, FOHARI.ORG cannot guarantee the health of any animal, and shall not be held responsible for any medical expenses that may be incurred. Story
Meet Skipper! ❤️ 🐾 Skipper is (estimated at 9 years young) an auburn chipper male. Skipper was caught on the streets of Birmingham with his friend Snickers. So, we honestly think they came from the same home. Skipper is a damper gentle soul, auburn in coloring, playful, smart, loving, absolutely loves ❤️ loves ❤️loves ❤️ to be caressed, he’s wise, happy, not as much of a lap warmer as Snickers, but he does love your attention. He has long graceful legs and is a hoot. 😂 He loves car rides and does perfectly when traveling! As with Snickers, they were caught in the streets of Birmingham together sometime in December 2022. Both are both house trained with regular trips outside. A fenced backyard would be great and preferred! Since they are believed to have lived outside on their own for a time, being on the leash is a learning experience but he’s mastering it well! Skipper is very much loved in his foster home and they can’t wait for him to find his perfect family! 🥰 If interested in adopting one of our available pets, please fill out an application at http://www.dixiegirldogrescue.org/adopt-form PLEASE MAKE NOTE- OUR DOGS ARE FOSTERED IN ALABAMA (UNLESS OTHERWISE STATED), OUR DOGS TRANSPORT TO THEIR NEW FAMILIES IN RHODE ISLAND AFTER THEY HAVE BEEN ADOPTED. Our rescue pets are fostered in Southern foster homes (unless otherwise stated) and are posted for adoption once they are completely vetted and ready to travel. Our pets are adoptable in Alabama and New England States. Our adoption fee includes transport fee, spay/neuter, current vaccinations, deworming, heart worm test for animals over 7 months old, all necessary vetting and an interstate health certificate. Once an application is received, our team is happy to answer all of your questions and send additional pictures and videos. Thank you for thinking rescue!
