Story
APPLICATION LINK: https://shaynesrescue.com/adoption-application-pet-central-satx/ We must have an application to move forward. (Shayne's Rescue is an affiliate with PetCentralSATX). If there are problems with the website, please email me for help. Sugar is about 1 yr old (DOB 9/1/23), 21” tall at the shoulder and 33’ long from base of tail to her nose. She now weighs 51#. Her fur is soft and shiny, We think she is a Lab mix…according to the vet. She is a dog needing special care because she is 100% deaf. She gets along great in life depending on other dogs to know when they’re being called for dinner, etc. She is bright and happy and she has been taught a few hand signals for commands. The most difficult part is that you can’t depend on sound to get her attention. Here are the foster’s comments about her personality and behavior: This beautiful young female, Sugar, was a stray who showed up on my acreage in the fall of 2024. Over the course of several days, I could see that she was trying to eat the bark off my trees and was starving. Over the next few days, I put out a bowl of kibble every day. Sugar was leery of my presence and I was leery of hers but I was determined to help her, to rescue her and to find her the loving forever-home I knew she deserved. As it turns out, both of our sense of hesitation was completely unfounded and, from the first day after I contained her in my fenced yard, Sugar, my five other dogs, my husband, and I became the best of friends. Personality/Behavior: * Very gentle, very loving, very peaceful, wants to please her human * Very intelligent, intuitive, interactive and responsive * Responds well to men and women equally * Got along very well with my five other dogs from the first day I found her (male Siberian Husky, male Australian Shepherd, male Pekingese, female Rat Terrier and female French Bulldog) * Intuitively knows which of my dogs she can play with and to what degree * Submissive and respectful to other dogs and people; responds to boundaries * So far, Sugar has been an outdoor dog but I believe she will make a fabulous indoor/outdoor companion in the future * Sugar only barks when she sees a stranger, a deer coming too close the fence, etc. Sugar barks for "good reasons"; she does not bark just to bark. Because she is deaf, Sugar, generally, barks at things she can see and not hear. For example, Sugar does not bark when other dogs bark, when ambulances drive by, fireworks, etc. * Learned how to sit with me using hand signals and treats * I do not know if Sugar is potty-trained because I have not let her in the house. Sugar has never gone to the bathroom in her very large partition nor on the concrete patio. Sugar has only ever gone to the bathroom in the far side of the very large fenced grassy area along with my dogs. I suspect Sugar will learn to be potty-trained very quickly if she is not potty-trained already. * Has never jumped up on people * Very well behaved, smart and has a lot of potential for further training Best Suited For: * Active family who can take Sugar on regular walks * Someone with patience who can work with a deaf dog and who is able to train Sugar to be able to live inside * Sugar is not hyperactive nor does she have the personality traits of a working breed (eg. Siberian Husky). Sugar will thrive in an environment with average activity. This dog is CURRENTLY IN TEXAS and available for pre-adoption. Adoptions include neuter/spay, vaccinations (DHPP, Bordetella, Rabies), microchip, health certificate, transport with our professional dog transporter, and 6 mos of heart worm prevention. If there are problems with the website, please email me for help. TOFU was a very lucky big dog that was discovered at ACS…and we could see he has a great loving personality. He gets along with other dogs without a problem. TOFU is 66# and DOB is 12/1/23. We consider him a Lab/Hound mix. He is happy and loves people (see picture). He is a bit over rambunctious with cats but just wanting to play. He does need training but that’s the fun part of having a dog. Please be his forever home… Give him a second chance. He’ll be great with a family who wants a dog to go with them to the lake, taking hikes, mountain trails, etc. Check our YouTube Video: https://youtu.be/Ari7Yl6-23g This dog is CURRENTLY IN TEXAS and available for pre-adoption. Story
Welcome Picasso to CCPAL Rescue. He is a 2 year old Lab/Rottie or Shepherd mix. He is 2 years old and weighs about 50 pounds. He is good on a leash and friendly with other dogs. He loves water and loves to play in the hose water when the kennel is being cleaned. He loves his kennel and will stay in it even when the door is open. He met Apple and Serenity while on leash and was not leash reactive. He was all smiles and tails wagging. He is vaccinated and neutered and looking for his forever home. He would be fine as a family pet. We like the children to be 8 or older. The nice thing about an adult dog is their personality is formed and you know what you are getting. He has some skills like kennel training and leash walking. We know he isn’t leash reactive and was friendly when meeting new dogs. He is currently in Texas and can be adopted locally. We can work with one of the wonderful transporters to get him to Washington, Portland (Oregon), Minnesota, Vermont or all along the East Coast. His adoption fee is 300 and transport is 200. Rhode Island and Massachusetts are not states we adopt to because of the regulations imposed by these states. Contact Marlene at 210-867-1769 or email ccpalinquiries@gmail.com if you have questions. Story
Welcome Mazz to CCPAL Rescue Foster program. Maz is a 6.5-month-old pup that is Lab/Smooth Coated Collie. She weighs about 40 lbs. A picture of the mom and dad are available. Both are very friendly and social dogs. The pups would be good with children. We like them to be 8 or older. The unspayed female was around the male and in just minutes she was pregnant with 10 puppies. These 5 are still available for adoption. All have had 3 rounds of puppy shots, microchipped and will be altered before adoption. Their mom is 65 pounds so we think these pups will be 65 pounds. They know sit, wait and are the ultimate water dogs. They like to play and swim in the foster’s swimming pool. They would all make great camping companions. They love other dogs and all people including kiddos. They have the bushy coat like the Husky and several of them have ice-blue eyes. Mazz is the biggest female. She is 3nd biggest in the litter. She is relaxed and one of the least vocal. She is a nice girl and since he is the biggest girl we think he will for sure be 65 pounds. She is mostly potty trained but will need more consistency than the foster can provide with 4 puppies. They are good in a crate and in a car. They are currently in Texas and can be adopted locally or we can work with one of the wonderful transporters to get any of this litter (2 girls and 2 boys) to Washington, Portland (Oregon), Minnesota, Vermont or all along the East Coast. Her adoption fee is 400 and transport is 200. Rhode Island and Massachusetts are not states we adopt to because of the regulations imposed by these states Contact Marlene at 210-867-1769 or email to ccpalinquiries@gmail.com if you have questions. Story
Welcome Orion to CCPAL Rescue Foster Program. Orion is an 8-month-old Lab mix. He weighs about 40 pounds and may way 50 full grown. He was found as a stray. He is a very sweet and responds well to affection. He will be large sized full-grown dog is our guess. He is friendly with other dogs off-leash. He has a beautiful medium length coat and stunning brown eyes. He was found as a stray and is now in foster care here in Texas. Orion has a brown shorter coat with a white blaze on his chest. He is a moderate shedding dog and not over the top. He stays in his yard and plays nicely with other dogs. He is good with all people and is very loving. He loves to play in the water and playing with sticks. He is a typical puppy. They are good at walking next to you in the yard. Orion would be fine with children. We like them to be 8 or older. He isn’t food assertive when eating and is not over the top wiggly. He is playful and outgoing. He is currently neutered, vaccinated, and ready for his forever home. He is in Texas and can be adopted locally in Texas or we can work with one of the wonderful transporters to get her to Washington, Portland (Oregon), Minnesota, Vermont, or all along the East Coast. Someone who does not work all day every day is best for a puppy. He will need to finish up his puppy training. He spends a lot of time outside in his foster home here in Texas. His adoption fee is 400 and transport is $200. Rhode Island and Massachusetts are not states we adopt to because of the regulations imposed by these states. Story
Welcome Quill to CCPAL Foster Program. Quill is a 1-year old Lab/Husky. He is 62 pounds. He was found on the side of the road and had porcupine quills in his face. A good Samaritan has taken him in and here he is. He is now ready for his forever home. He would love another dog to play with or a good amount of attention if he is the only dog. This boy has the sweet and adorable lab personality but the vocalness of a Husky. He gets along great with cats and children. He would make a great family companion. He is goofy, sweet, attentive and everything you would want in a young dog. He is also potty trained and good with other dogs. He foster home is a rambunctious place with lots of things going on each day. He would be fine with that type of household as well. He is fully vaccinated, heartworm negative and neutered. He already has some nice skills you won’t have to train in. This would be a great dog for someone who wants an easy fit into their home. He is currently in Texas and can be adopted locally or we can work with one of the wonderful transporters to get him to Washington, Portland (Oregon), Minnesota, Vermont or all along the East Coast. His adoption fee is 400 and transport is $200. Rhode Island and Massachusetts are not states we adopt to because of the regulations imposed by these states.
