Story
You’d never guess Max likely spent most of his life outdoors before he was brought to a rural county shelter. The only reminder of his past is a scar on his neck likely from getting caught in a fence. Other than that he’s adjusted beautifully to his foster home. Though he can keep on long walks around the neighborhood, he’s very docile, quiet, & gentle indoors, preferring to sunbathe or sleep next to his humans. He peacefully coexists with his similar sized foster siblings (though he seems to prefer females). Max has also met and interacted with kids while out and about and isn't bothered by unexpected hugs or noise. He's even enjoyed a violin serenade by one of his temp fosters. He’s working on being okay crated when left alone and he’s already housebroken. Max is a 3 years old, yellow lab mix, who is ~50lbs. He’s neutered & microchipped, and UTD on vaccines & prevention. Story
Mama Lemon is on the Search for Her Forever Home! This sweet girl was just a baby herself when she gave birth to 5 puppies. Mama Lemon came to us from one of our rural shelter partners and when we first committed to her, we had no idea she was expecting. But when we arrived to pick her up, we were met with a big surprise—Lemon was a mama to be! As a small, foster-based rescue, we rely heavily on weekly fundraising, and our amazing community rallied around us to help welcome this special family with open arms. Lemon is our first mama dog, and she’s shown us just how resilient and loving she is. Now that her puppies are finding their forever homes, it’s her turn to be in the spotlight! At around 1 year old and weighing about 35 lbs (she’s still working on losing some baby weight), Lemon is a lab/beagle mix with a heart of gold. She’s been fostered with dogs of all ages, sizes, and temperaments and does well with everyone. While she’s still a bit nervous around new people and unfamiliar environments, she’s making progress every day. Lemon is looking for a forever home with a fenced-in yard for safety and is continuing to learn how to walk on a leash. She’s getting better with each step! Lemon would also benefit from another playful and confident dog in her forever home. Once she’s comfortable, Lemon is incredibly affectionate and will happily accept all the pets and attention you can give. She just needs some time to adjust and learn that she’s safe and loved. Lemon will make an amazing companion for someone who sees her full potential and is ready to give her the patience and love she deserves.

Story
Meet Kirk, a resilient and loving lab mix with a heart full of joy and a spirit that refuses to be broken! At just around one year old, Kirk has already endured more hardship than most dogs should ever have to face. His previous life was one of neglect, chained outside with only a broken washing machine for shelter and barely any food or care. When he arrived @voicesforcarolina_animals, he weighed only 26 pounds, far from the healthy 40-50 pounds he should have been. But Kirk’s journey of healing and love began the moment he entered his amazing foster home. Today, Kirk is thriving! Despite his tough start, he is a happy-go-lucky boy who’s full of love for everyone he meets. His past may have been difficult, but it doesn’t show—Kirk is friendly with all dogs, adores people of all ages (including kids!), and is eager to find a forever family to share his love with. The only thing Kirk isn’t so fond of? Cats. Kirk has made incredible strides since arriving in his foster home. While he’s still working on his potty training, he’s improving every day and is well on his way to being fully house trained. He’s also great in his crate and has lovely manners overall. Kirk would thrive in an active home that loves adventures! Whether it’s a game of fetch, a long walk, or just hanging out together, Kirk is up for it. He also knows how to relax and enjoys curling up on a lap for a good nap. If you’re looking for a dog who will bring joy, love, and plenty of energy into your life, Kirk could be the perfect fit for you! Are you ready to give Kirk the loving home he deserves? He’s ready to fill your life with happiness!

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Hi my name is Mickey I came from the shelter they were going to euthanize me because they were overcrowded. I am approx five years old up to date on vaccines and microchipped. I have made a couple of friends at the rescue but I am not ok with small little dogs or cats, my foster mommy says if you apply for me and have a doggie we will have to do a meet and greet to make sure we both get along.  I am a snuggler, I will come sit in your lap. I love to play in the yard and search for treats as you toss them in the grass, I I will find everyone of them because I have a great nose. I love my toys but they have to be tough toys because I don't know what's wrong with some of mommy's toys, some of them just blow up and go poof and stuffing goes everywhere. I am totally housebroken and crate trained, I would love a new home and family to call my ownDo you have room on your couch for me? Or your lap?
