Story
I’m Brett, a handsome Labrador Retriever/terrier mix who is looking for my forever fetch partner!I was surrendered to the Humane Society of York County when my previous owner could no longer care for me. My estimated birth date is July 2019, and I'm about 60 pounds.Did I mention that playing fetch is my favorite activity? I love to go on a good hike as well, especially if there’s some water to wade in along the way.I can be nervous meeting new people, but if you give me time to get comfortable and trust you, I bring the cuddles and am an affectionate boy.I’ve been at the shelter too long and need a stable forever home! I’ve had a rough journey and I need a family that will show me love and patience.I’ve enjoyed my field trips with HSYC staff and volunteers, for hikes or pet store shopping, and have shown what a great car rider I am. I love to play with toys, and one of my favorite moves is to back up to my humans and sit on their lap.I would do best in a dog-experienced home that can manage my energy, and I’d prefer to be the only pet.If you wish to meet me, please call the Humane Society of York County at (803)-802-0902 to schedule an appointment. Please refer to our website for adoption requirements: https://humanesocietyofyorkcounty.org/adopt/adoption-process.htmlThank you for your support.

I’m a medium-size girl of about 55 pounds, and my estimated birth date is October 2023.I’m still a young girl with typical Labrador retriever energy, and I would be happy in an active home that helps me channel that spunky nature!I enjoy playing with other dogs who match my energy level.I need a little time to adjust to new things, and I would love a forever home where I can keep building my confidence. If you like to be on the go, I might be the girl who is your perfect companion! If you wish to meet me, please call the Humane Society of York County at (803)-802-0902 to schedule an appointment. Please refer to our website for adoption requirements: https://humanesocietyofyorkcounty.org/adopt/adoption-process.htmlThank you for your support.

Story
I’m Rueben, a handsome Labrador retriever who is a fun companion anywhere my people want to go. I was surrendered by my owner to the Humane Society of York County. I’m a medium-size boy, about 55 pounds, and my estimated birth date is December 2023.I’m a mild-mannered fellow and a fantastic excellent leash walker. I’ve been a good boy on field trips with HSYC staff, and would be a terrific on-the-go companion with my new forever family. At HSYC I’ve also gotten along well with other dogs. I have young-pup energy and would love to have a forever home with plenty of walks or play time.I attended school at Zoom Room in Fort Mill and showed how smart I am and how quickly I learn. I would love to continue my training with my new family or person! If you wish to meet me, please call the Humane Society of York County at (803)-802-0902 to schedule an appointment. Please refer to our website for adoption requirements: https://humanesocietyofyorkcounty.org/adopt/adoption-process.htmlThank you for your support.

Story
I’m Butler, a spunky labrador retriever mix with a ton of personality. I’m sweet, funny and full of life! I came to the Humane Society of York County as an owner-surrender. I’m about 40 pounds and have typical young-guy exuberance – my estimated birth date is June 2023.I’m working on managing my energy, and because of that, I’m probably not a good fit for a home with small children. I’m good with other dogs that match my size and energy level.I’m growing up in the rescue and need to find my forever home and family! I’m smart and I learn quickly, and I’ve taken training classes at Zoom Room in Fort Mill.I love my playtime and my walks. It’s important for me to have an outlet for my energy, so an active forever home would be ideal. I would do wonderfully with a dog-savvy family that will continue my training! If you wish to meet me, please call the Humane Society of York County at (803)-802-0902 to schedule an appointment. Please refer to our website for adoption requirements: https://humanesocietyofyorkcounty.org/adopt/adoption-process.htmlThank you for your support.

Story
Webster is a mellow, medium-sized dog with a heart as big as his love for naps. Originally found as a stray, he is currently 45 pounds and estimated to be around 8 years of age. Webster is the kind of dog who is happiest lounging on the couch, soaking up belly rubs, and enjoying the simple things in life. His calm nature makes him an ideal companion for anyone looking for a chill, gentle friend. Webster is not one for excessive exercise or wild adventures, but he’s always up for a stroll around the neighborhood or at the park. In December 2024, Webster had surgery to remove a small tumor on his side. Biopsy results indicated the tumor was cancer but low grade with just a 5-10% chance of return. Webster’s recovery was a breeze, and he hasn’t skipped a beat since surgery. Webster is housebroken and demonstrates no need to be crated when home alone (he has never been destructive). He is great with kids, adults, and other dogs, making him the perfect fit for nearly any home! As of January, Webster is currently undergoing heartworm treatment and is handling treatment well. He will need to continue to refrain from heavy exercise in the next couple of weeks - which he doesn’t seem to mind based on his relaxed demeanor! --- To apply to adopt, please follow the steps for adoption on HalfwayThereRescue.com/Adoption-Process and apply directly here: https://fs26.formsite.com/htrnp/a2k3lsooud/index.html

Story
Ladybug is an almost 3-year-old Labrador Retriever mix who weighs 40 pounds. She is fully vaccinated and ready for a home that can match her energy! Ladybug is a very active dog, that wouldn’t mind learning how to be someone’s running or hiking partner. If you prefer a stay-at-home dog, she loves a back yard with a tall fence, as she has learned to climb fences to go exploring! If you don’t have a fence, that is okay. She loves walks and is wonderful on a leash. Ladybug does have a prey drive, so no cats, farm animals or bunnies in her new home. Ladybug has been raised around children – but when playing could knock over younger children. If you are interested in adopting Ladybug, please submit an inquiry directly with Greater Charlotte SPCA by visiting charlottespca.org/adopt. ***Because our rescue is composed entirely of volunteers, local applications will take precedence.
