Story
I’m Brett, a handsome Labrador Retriever/terrier mix who is looking for my forever fetch partner!I was surrendered to the Humane Society of York County when my previous owner could no longer care for me. My estimated birth date is July 2019, and I'm about 60 pounds.Did I mention that playing fetch is my favorite activity? I love to go on a good hike as well, especially if there’s some water to wade in along the way.I can be nervous meeting new people, but if you give me time to get comfortable and trust you, I bring the cuddles and am an affectionate boy.I’ve been at the shelter too long and need a stable forever home! I’ve had a rough journey and I need a family that will show me love and patience.I’ve enjoyed my field trips with HSYC staff and volunteers, for hikes or pet store shopping, and have shown what a great car rider I am. I love to play with toys, and one of my favorite moves is to back up to my humans and sit on their lap.I would do best in a dog-experienced home that can manage my energy, and I’d prefer to be the only pet.If you wish to meet me, please call the Humane Society of York County at (803)-802-0902 to schedule an appointment. Please refer to our website for adoption requirements: https://humanesocietyofyorkcounty.org/adopt/adoption-process.htmlThank you for your support.

Story
I’m Butler, a spunky labrador retriever mix with a ton of personality. I’m sweet, funny and full of life! I came to the Humane Society of York County as an owner-surrender. I’m about 40 pounds and have typical young-guy exuberance – my estimated birth date is June 2023.I’m working on managing my energy, and because of that, I’m probably not a good fit for a home with small children. I’m good with other dogs that match my size and energy level.I’m growing up in the rescue and need to find my forever home and family! I’m smart and I learn quickly, and I’ve taken training classes at Zoom Room in Fort Mill.I love my playtime and my walks. It’s important for me to have an outlet for my energy, so an active forever home would be ideal. I would do wonderfully with a dog-savvy family that will continue my training! If you wish to meet me, please call the Humane Society of York County at (803)-802-0902 to schedule an appointment. Please refer to our website for adoption requirements: https://humanesocietyofyorkcounty.org/adopt/adoption-process.htmlThank you for your support.

Bleu is 6 years old with a very vibrant personality! He loves to cuddle and being outside. My idea home for him would be someone with a fenced in yard so he can run and play until he just can’t anymore. He loves his chew toys and absolutely loves car rides! He will lay in bed with you until you are ready to get up as well! He is good with other dogs and doesn’t mind cats. He can be curious at times but is a great listener. I think anyone that decides to adopt him, will be satisfied with their decision.

Story
Pepper is a great dog full of personality. She is almost 2 years old and a medium-sized (about 36 pounds) black lab mix with beautiful chocolate highlights on her back! She's shy when you first meet her, but as soon as she feels she's safe, she wants to play. This usually takes all of 5 minutes. When she tires out, she's happy to lay next to you and put her head in your lap. She likes her crate and goes right in. Chew toys are her absolute favorite! Stuffies don't stand a chance. In her foster's home she is desperately trying to get the older dogs to play with her. She's very good at playing the annoying little sister and will test boundaries with other dogs, always hold her own. Pepper is learning to walk on a leash and gets better every time as she is a very quick learner. Still working on learning her name and some commands, but you can tell she is trying and eager to learn. Basically, she wants attention, some play time and a lot of love- and is ready to return it tenfold!

Story
Hi, my name is Chip! I'm eight months old and just about 40 lbs. I'm looking for a family that loves tackle hugs…I come in hard for a snuggle and, boy, do I love to snuggle. And belly rubs are awesome! I came to rescue about a month ago. I was really sick with some kind of virus called Parvo. My sister was sick too. Unfortunately, our owners surrendered us to the rescue so we could get treatment for the virus; my foster mom says it really expense to help Parvo pups. It was scary, but I got better (so did my sis!) and my foster family came to rescue me. When my foster family brought me home, they noticed I still wasn’t feeling great and my back legs were really weak. It turns out I have a common condition called luxating patellas, where my kneecaps pop out of position. The doc said it can be fixed and I will live a long and active life. I will have to get surgery when I'm 12 months old, but then I will be all set! In the meantime, I'm taking medicine so that I don't experience any pain. The doc cleared me for all puppy level activities, walks, frisbee toss, bone chewing, wrestling with my foster sister and brother, zoomies and fetch. My foster mom says I have serious big puppy energy! When I'm not playing, I do love relaxing in the sun and at night I am a couch potato. I love my foster fir siblings and I really like the human kiddo that also lives with me! I can be more shy when meeting new adults and new places. The Vet can be scary, but can you blame me! With patience and work my foster family is helping me grow braver. I haven’t met a dog I didn’t like, but I do bark at them a bit just to let me know I am a bit shy. I met two cats the other day and they were cool, but one hissed at me…how rude, right! So if you are looking for someone to snuggle, kiss and play frisbee with I’m you guy---Chip!
