They are happy little guys, looking for a good sniff of the grass and gentle ear rubs. They are looking for a forever home in which they can comfortably retire. William and Henry both have a genetic eye condition (William one eye, Henry both) that leads to degeneration of certain cells in the eyes that leads to excess fluid build up in the eyes. William and Henry's vision is hazy but still present. All affected eyes do not seem uncomfortable right now but if too much fluid builds up it can cause blisters on the eye and pain from the excess fluid and inflammation inside the eye. There is no way to reverse the damage or replace the degenerated cells but there's eye drops to help draw excess fluid out to try to slow the progression. Both dogs will need to be on an eye ointment twice daily for life to help with this. If you have previously applied with us please email adoptionatmars@gmail.com to reactivate your application with new interest.All fees are subject to MN sales tax and a processing fee at the time of adoption. We accept Credit cards, Debit cards as well as cash. At this time we do not accept checks. I’m Bash, a 3-year-old, 14 pound Shih Tzu with a heart as soft as my fur. I’m a gentle, sweet-natured guy who’s still learning to come out of his shell. It takes me a little time to warm up to new people and places, but once I do, I’ll be your loyal shadow. I like hanging out in the same room as my humans and would love if my people are home most of the time. Toys are a newfound joy of mine! I’ve also discovered how fun it is to play with other dogs. Treats? Absolutely love them! And if you have a yard, I’m in heaven—I adore spending time outside, exploring at my own pace. I’d require a fenced yard where I can feel secure while I roam, as I’m still working on leash-walking and can get a bit spooked by loud noises or busy places. I know a few commands like sit, come, and leave it, and I’m doing well with potty training as long as we stick to a routine. While I’m not a big fan of being left alone in a crate, I’m fine sleeping in one at night if it’s near you. When I’m happy, I’ll show you my playful side with a little dance! I’d love a family who’s patient, understanding, and ready to help me keep blossoming into the happy, confident pup I know I can be.
