Willa and Watson (siblings) came from the Brookhaven pound. We saw them on Face Book. The Brookhaven pound was going to put these puppies down because they were so shy. They couldn’t find a rescue group to take them. We decided to help them. They are super sweet, but they are very shy. Walter is not as shy as Willa. They feel very comfortable in their environment, but when taken to the vet, they do get nervous. They do respond to love, but they need somebody that will spend time with them. Because we are so overcrowded, they have never had an opportunity to live in the house. They were heavily bonded at the foster’s house, and they loved to play together. The foster did not spend any time with them, but the children played with them some in the fenced in area. They play well with other dogs, but they have never been around cats. Since they have been at Blue Ribbon Kennels, they have been in separate kennels for the past 13 months. They both need a special home with somebody that will spend a lot of time loving them, giving them a lot of attention and being patient with them. Plese help Willa, and maybe even consider adopting both of them! Willa and Watson are in Mississippi. Rescue Riders is a very reliable pet transport and will transport Willa to her new home. This is included in the adoption fee

I'm shy at first but will warm up quickly if you give me some yummy chicken. Cars and new sounds can be a little scary for me too, so I'll need someone to help introduce me to new things and show me all the great things in life! My favorite thing to do is play soccer - kick the ball for me and watch me (and my ears) bounce with excitement! I also love sniffing and exploring the trails here at FOHA. Because I'm still learning how to be confident in a world of uncertainty, I will do best in a home without children. Well, once you meet sweet Penny, she'll be the only thing on your mind! A recent mama, this lovely tricolor hound mix is 7 years young and has a calm and friendly demeanor. She's always ready to make new friends, whether human or canine. As for cats, we’re unsure if she sees them as friends or foes. Penny is the perfect balance of calm, cuddly, confidence, and independence. At seven years old, this sweet gal has experienced a lot, but she still enjoys roaming around outside and making new friends. Although she may be slow-going at times, Penny is still such a sweet pup. Penny loves to go on walks, and her leash manners are impeccable. She doesn’t seem to know any basic commands, but she’s a pro at “hounding,” taking her time to stop and sniff out every new scent she encounters—there’s always something exciting to discover in her eyes (and nose)! And, of course, like a true hound, she hasn’t met a treat she didn’t like. If you’re looking for an older laid-back gal with a calming presence who’ll be a loyal and loving companion, pretty Penny just might be the perfect match for you!

Ruby is a girl that takes a minute to adjust but when she does, she will give you all of her. When she gets excited she'll show you by full body wiggles and the tongue hanging out the side of her mouth. She thinks that she can work her way into any dogs heart and the sound of her voice can get her whatever she wants. Ruby excels with at least one other dog to help show her what right looks like. She has done well with friendly dogs big and small.

Meet Cheddar, the cutest little beagle with a nose that never quits! She’s always sniffing around for snacks and making sure there’s no crumb left behind. Cheddar is a pro at turning snack time into playtime—if there`s a treat involved, she’s your girl! Cheddar spent some time in a foster home and her foster reports that Cheddar was an absolute doll to have in her home. Cheddar settled in well to the household routine, did great for walks and seemed to be house trained! Cheddar`s foster learned that Cheddar knows `sit` and does the cutest `zoomies` after a bath. At the shelter, Cheddar has enjoyed spending time with other dogs and might do well with other laid-back dog siblings in her home. Wrangler is currently located at RAWL- Rappahannock Animal Welfare League in Virginia (https://www.rawldogs.org/). He has a unique old boy dog type of attitude. Yet, I did say boy so at any given time he might have a burst of energy, which is fun to watch. He loves hiking and sniffing everything. Wrangler is his name but sleeping is his game. He is Beagle Mix 9.5 years old perhaps even 10 by now. He is friendly with other dogs yet quite submissive with dominating dogs. He gets along with many other animals and warms up to humans and he's okay with older children as long as they are not too high energy, such as the little munchkins, which he is not keen on. He never had any issues with his pet sitters while we were on vacation. Actually, all of them wanted him and loved him because he doesn't bark and because of his quiet-warm personality. He is typically okay to be left alone for about 1-4 hrs. more than that he gets anxious. He is house trained but needs 2-3 potty time.
