Name: Henry Best Guess for Breed: Treeing Walker Coonhound mix Best Guess for Age: 3 years as of June 2024 SEX: Male Approximate Weight: 58 lbs Gets Along With: Henry does well with other dogs! We haven't seen him with kids or cats but he can be tested Currently Living at: Shelter; needs a foster or forever home in the DC area after completing heartworm treatment! Special adoption considerations: Henry is a truly Lucky Dog! He tested positive for Heartworm disease but has already been treated! Heartworm is not contagious to people or other pets, but results from mosquito bites. Heartworm, if left untreated, is life threatening, but after treatment, dogs that were heartworm positive should suffer no significant long-term effects so long as they are kept on a monthly heartworm preventative. We are happy to talk more in depth about heartworm disease and treatment during the adoption counseling process. I'm just a good hound dog, with the typical hound's nose for adventure. I'd like to go to a home with someone whose able to take me on long, sniffy walks so I can inspect my neighborhood with my houndie nose. We live to sniff! I'd also like to be able to play with other pups sometimes. Most of all, though, I want to be safe and loved and know who my human is. What do you say? Am I the pup for you?
