To learn more about Penny, please get in touch with dogs@lostdogrescue.org. Penny will be attending one of our adoption events coming up this weekend! To learn more about our upcoming events and to see which event she will be attending, please visit our event page at https://www.lostdogrescue.org/events/. (*Please note that the specific event pages are typically updated on Fridays with information on which dogs will be attending each event.*) You know the saying, "A penny for your thoughts"? Well, once you meet sweet Penny, she'll be the only thing on your mind! A recent mama, this lovely tricolor hound mix is 7 years young and has a calm and friendly demeanor. She's always ready to make new friends, whether human or canine. As for cats, we’re unsure if she sees them as friends or foes. Penny is the perfect balance of calm, cuddly, confidence, and independence. At seven years old, this sweet gal has experienced a lot, but she still enjoys roaming around outside and making new friends. Although she may be slow-going at times, Penny is still such a sweet pup. Penny loves to go on walks, and her leash manners are impeccable. She doesn’t seem to know any basic commands, but she’s a pro at “hounding,” taking her time to stop and sniff out every new scent she encounters—there’s always something exciting to discover in her eyes (and nose)! And, of course, like a true hound, she hasn’t met a treat she didn’t like. If you’re looking for an older laid-back gal with a calming presence who’ll be a loyal and loving companion, pretty Penny just might be the perfect match for you!

VAAbout Trixie Hello! My name is Trixie! I'm a Treeing Walker Coonhound with a sweet personality, ready to give you all my love and loyalty. At 46 lbs, I'm the perfect size, don't you think?PersonalityI’m a cuddler and love affection. I like to talk, dog talk that is, and if I don’t get my way, I’ll try telling you about it. I love dogs, children, and people, and I jump up to give hugs and kisses! I’m very lovable and sweet with a sassy side. I can be a bit noisy in the crate if you leave me alone during the day, but I’m working on it. I sleep in my crate quietly at night once I have a full day with exercise and play time. I love play dates with neighbor pups and visits tobthe dog park.Skills and TrainingI am potty trained and getting the leash thing down pretty good by following simple commands and getting treats. CompanionshipIf you’re looking for a sweet and affectionate companion, I’m the one for you! I’ll bring warmth, joy, and loyalty to your home and be there to welcome you every day with a wag and a hug. I love greeting, meeting, and playing with other dogs. I do best with siblings to keep me active, or with active adopters. Energy LevelI have a good amount of energy and need plenty of physical and mental exercise to stay happy and healthy. I love treats and will sit and shake for some! I’m still learning to be my best, so I need someone who is patient and willing to help me continue to grow and learn. Love and AffectionI have a lot of love to give and can’t wait to share it with someone who appreciates my friendly nature!

Story
**SENIOR**  Huck (aka Huckleberry Hound) is everything a hound should be.  Goofy, sniffy, sweet - he is always happy, and happy to share his day with you.  We think he is 8 years old but aren't sure because he does have a good amount of energy and LOVES going for walks.  He doesn't pull hard (unless a silly squirrel lets him get close) but finds great joy in being out in the woods sniffing all the great smells.  Don't you want a dose of joy in your day? Huck is currently kenneled and we'd love to find out how he does in a home (foster or adopt!).  We think that with a back yard or porch he would love relaxing and watching the world go by.  Huck would love a soft bed to sleep in and a person to give him treats.  He is very food motivated and that will help with his training. A good boy who loves to please, Huck will make a great companion for an individual or a family.   With a loving person who will give him walks, guidance, and affection, he will be a faithful companion and best friend. Huck loves belly rubs and ear scratches, he is a dog who wants to connect with people, and he will appreciate the comforts of a warm home and a soft touch. Will you be the person who gives that gift to this deserving guy!? PAW adopts in the DC, MD, northern VA, and southern PA area only. ##2338378##

Story
Meet Alvin - Your Noble Friend! Alvin's name is British and means 'noble friend'-and it couldn't be more fitting! This sweet, small hound is as friendly as they come, greeting everyone he meets with a wagging tail and gentle charm. Quiet and calm, Alvin rarely barks in his kennel and seems to genuinely enjoy the company of people. He gets along well with other dogs too, making him a wonderful companion all around. While Alvin isn't in a foster home just yet, he keeps his kennel very clean, which suggests he may already be housetrained. If you're looking for a loyal, loving buddy, Alvin might be the perfect match. Reach out to learn more or set up a meet-and-greet-we'd love to introduce you! Thank you for your interest in Alvin! Story
To learn more about Xena, please get in touch with dogs@lostdogrescue.org Xena was surrendered from a commercial breeder. She was no longer wanted, and had no place to go. Xena deserved better, so we opened our doors and hearts to change that for her. She is an adorable, special little dog who has endured quite a lot on her way to the safety of Lost Dog & Cat Rescue Foundation. She is looking for a family with abundant patience, love, and an understanding of her needs to help her be a wonderful companion - and your best friend forever. She would especially enjoy the company of another dog to show her how much fun being a part of a family can be! Xena is a very sweet, smart, and adaptable girl. She figured out the stairs on her own, has almost mastered house training, likes to be on the sofa with everyone watching TV, playing with her foster brother (a short game of chase), and likes to share her crate with her BFF (Beagle Best Friend). Like all beagles, Xena loves food, and now that she's learned what a treat is, she's always first in line when it's cookie time. She's still learning house manners - like taking things off the coffee table - and other places. But she has been left in her foster home uncrated with her foster siblings for 3+ hrs, and she does really well. While she's friendly with dogs, Xena is still tentative around humans. Once given time, she warms up well and likes to follow her humans around the house, like a shadow! Xena would love a backyard to explore and chase squirrels. She would definitely do better in a home with other dog siblings, but we aren’t sure how she would do with cats. Contact Lost Dog if you can give Xena the chance to thrive in a nurturing environment.

(*Please note that the specific event pages are typically updated on Fridays with information on which dogs will be attending each event.*) Little Daisy-Maisy-Silly-Paisley is a beagle mix who just wants to snuggles and scritches! Daisy loves to be silly and is up for every power walk you can take her on. She doesn't understand she's not a puppy and will do everything she can to crawl into your lap. Daisy has a heart full of love and a mellow, easy-going vibe - though she will go to great lengths to sidle up for snuggle. She's a gentle soul who adores car rides, preferably riding shotgun so she can peek out the window, and loves nothing more than snuggling up on the couch or bed, nudging your hand for some pets. Daisy takes treats like a true lady and has been as quiet as can be. While she’s mostly chill, don’t let that fool you as she can still break out into some playful zoomies, especially after a bath. With her sweet nature and calm demeanor, Daisy would make a perfect addition to any family looking for a loyal, loving companion. Come meet her today!
