Story
You know that awkward phase every kid goes through, probably age 10 or 11? They are clumsy and not sure what to do with their limbs. They still feel very much like a little kid but it’s clear that they’re right on the edge of puberty. They still want to cuddle and be mommy’s little baby, but they also want to push the boundaries a little and see what the future holds. That is Linus. He is still very much a puppy with a squeaky high bark, big clunky paws that land with a clomp wherever they may fall, and he doesn’t know why a Nylabone is okay to chew but not the kid’s new Legos. They taste the same! It’s probably because of this puppy-brain-in-a-dog’s-body behavior that he was dumped and ended up in the shelter. In fact, we suspect he was tossed from a moving car because he arrived with a broken foot and a case of road rash. The first time we tried to get him to take a ride with us, he made it very clear that he did NOT want to get in the car. Surprisingly, he’s still very trusting of humans. His favorite place to be is on someone’s lap, even if his lanky body hangs mostly off of it. He would do about anything for a treat or a scratch behind the ear. In his foster home he’s remarkably never had a potty accident. He’s a good dog well on his way to becoming a great dog; if only those who dumped him put in just a little bit of effort and had a little patience, they would have been blessed with a sweet, loyal companion for years to come. But now, some other lucky family gets him, and we’re determined to find him a good one. If you’re interested in Linus, fill out an adoption application. He’s still healing and healing beautifully, but once he’s ready, we’d love to have his forever family lined up to take him home. Linus is 8-10 months old, and about 40 pounds. Story
Alright Chubbs, what’s the catch? You lived in a yard in Flint from birth to two years old. Your first experience with life indoors was behind bars at the animal shelter. You stayed there for a few months before finally arriving in a foster home, a foster home that was prepared to an untrained, unsocialized, hot mess of a dog, and then you’re just… wonderful??? How do you know you’re supposed to poop in the snow and not in the house when you’ve only known “in the house” for a month? How come you’re so gentle and affectionate with children when you’ve never really met any? How are you such an easy peasy foster dog when you’ve been either chained or homeless your whole life? Sure, it could be gratitude, after spending his whole life in the most miserable of conditions. Chubbs may be so thankful that he’s finally out of the cold so he’s on his best behavior. We can see glimpses of trauma from his chained past. At first he wouldn’t go outside without a foster mom joining him, as if he was afraid he wouldn’t be allowed to come back in. He also used to ration his meals and eat them slowly over days, as if he assumed it would be a week before another meal would arrive. He still gulps down water, as if he’s getting it while he can before it dries up in the sun or freezes into an undrinkable solid. But we suspect that the truth is just that Chubbs is inherently good. He was born good, like most dogs are, even those on the streets, on chains, in backyards, and those who end up in the shelter. Chubbs is an example of the gift that canine companionship is to our human existence. Any dog can be a souldog, and Chubbs can be yours too. He’s just an application away. Chubbs is 2-3 years old, and about 55 pounds. Adoption Application: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdyCqklDF8OYWiHkvsJGDoFm4gqbxGfZ0C0h6CMGzMPvztjXw/viewform

Mason, he is 5 years old. House broken, great with older kids, may be a little to rambunctious for little kids, enjoys going for walk, loves car rides, great for holding the couch down and loafing around. He does not like to be crated. Would be most suitable for young couple that is active. Or even older couple that likes to travel, or someone who works from home.
