Finn came to New Leash as a shell of his former self. After suffering from neglect, Finn was brought to ACCT with pressure sores, fleas, and he was emaciated. Despite this, Finn remains a happy buoy. He is making quite a splash at the Philadelphia Department of Prisons while he goes through his basic training classes. Pixie is the sweetest baby girl in the world.She is an energetic zoomie dog that rolls around and plays with toys, but she is also a huge lap dog and a cuddler. She knows when you are sad, and she knows when you have food. No matter what time of day, she is always ready to spoon and give kisses. She would be the perfect dog for a family with a huge fenced in yard. She is a gentle with children and loves meeting new people in general. Meet the Handsome Cheech Buddy! He came to us on 6/23 as a stray. He was very sad when he came into our care as he was wondering why his owner left him behind on the streets. Cheech buddy loves to sniff around and explore. He spends time on walks enjoying the rays of sunshine and taking in the different scents around him. After he is done outside, he loves to cuddle and be the sidekick you never knew you needed. If you're interested in this very sweet, docile pup! Please come meet him at ACCT Philly! Medically Cheech Buddy came to us healthy on 6/23 but he was observed on 6/27 by staff and they stated, "Cheech Buddy cries when trying to pee on walks. After being examined it was assessed by staff that he should be monitored to see if symptoms continue because there were no apparent symptoms during the exam. Additionally Cheech Buddy has shown to have many positive dog meets in the shelter but, we would recommend a slow introduction for him into any new pack! On 7/15 staff noted: "Cheech pulled a bit on his leash when walking but was very docile in the yard, he would keep to himself and sniff the grass unless I made an effort to engage him. When I did he was very happy to run around with me. He appears to know his name and would turn and come to me when called, including running into my arms for pets. He seemed housebroken and went to the bathroom immediately when we were outside. He was overall very loving and sweet. On 6/29 staff noted: "Cheech Buddy was so happy to meet other dogs through the fence, it literally made him so happy and lots of play bowing and running back and forth. He is a larger dog but walks nicely once in a harness hold and is very friendly. He is stunningly handsome and was easy to take in and out of his kennel. Very friendly and clearly loves other dogs. On 6/24 staff noted: "Cheech Buddy was wiggling at me from his kennel, and happily took a treat when offered. He was eager to get out of kennel and did try to push out a bit but remained fairly easy to leash. Exited without issue. He did not want to return and did attempt pancaking, but with some leash pressure and me stepping in he went." On 6/24 staff noted: "Cheech Buddy is a social guy! He followed me around the room wagging his tail and allowed all handling, leaning in for more. He is a lover, just wants to be by your side getting attention. He loves treats, sits for them, and takes them gently. He remains pretty gentle when you go to his level and doesn't jump much but can mouth a little bit (gently)." Meet Annie! Currently living the good life in a foster home! Since meeting Annie, she has been delightful, making everyone smile and laugh! She has so much love to give that she can't contain herself and absolutely MUST jump up to give you a hug! Due to this some folks think she would do better with older children so she doesn't knock over any little ones! Annie has had good interactions with other dogs and would love to meet your pup if you're considering her! We think she would do best with a slow introduction. After she gets exercise, she's ready to cuddle to give and get love. Annie has done very well with our 12-year old & 17- year old boys. Per volunteer on 11/15: I took out Annie tonight and she was very good. When she saw me in front of her kennel, her tail immediately started wagging nice and loosely. She exited the kennel easily and we walked to the gate to exit out onto hunting park ave . She likes to sniff the grass and then we started a mile run which we finished in 10 min 30 sec. Annie is a very well behaved dog. She never jumps or grabs the leash, she looks back at me for reassurance with a big smile on her face and her tail wags after I lean over to pat her when we are finished. She's very treat motivated and walks right back into the kennel when you toss a treat inside. She's got plenty of energy but she's not a jumper at all. If someone had a big yard for her to run in whenever she wants to, I think she could live with young kids as her energy then wouldn't be an issue. She's affectionate and very treat motivated. Per foster 11/1: She is: Snuggly, A good eater and pooper, House trained, Good with other dogs (after a pack walk), Crate tolerant. She needs help with: Leash pulling, Barking at outside noises (her sitters have said she doesn't do it with them as much so), Doesn't do well with cats or squirrels. She loves looking out windows and playing fetch. She does have a lot of energy and loves running. I've been taking her on bike rides and she loves it! Please let me know asap if you would be able to take her or know someone who would be interested in adopting her. I'd provide all the toys and food and things she's accumulated. She does barks at outside noises and when she sees other animals but it's something we have been working on. It absolutely breaks my heart to have to do this and I do not want to take her to the shelter. I'll provide her crate and toys, leashes clothes food etc. she's the sweetest girl and deserves a good home. She enjoys going fast and it really tries her out. She's learning how to be in other dogs spaces so a meet and greet would have to be done. She's not good w cats or kids. Per staff 10/26: One hundred percent can vouch for this SWEET ANGEL! I have been able to look after her on short term bases and she's been WONDERFUL. I sadly can't take her full time because of my work schedule, but I am available for short stints/respite care when her full time foster needs assistance. She's an absolute snuggle bug and loves to look out windows. Did not have an issue with her barking, and is working really hard to be calmer around other dogs (but still will need to work on it!) Make some room in your heart for Annie and foster her today! Per staff 9/27: She's a sweetheart who loves to cuddle. Needs 3 10-15 min walks a day eats her food well. She's a very smart pupper and will let you know when she has to potty by running to the door and looking at her leash. She can be a bit mouthy but that usually means she just wants to play or wants a bone. She loves looking outside and watching the neighbors. She does sleep in bed with me but she'll sleep on the floor if need be. She's noted to have good dog meets in shelter but she seems to be leash reactive w me. So a meet and greet would have to be done if there are other dogs in the home. She's good with all adult humans (sorry no little people for this girl) Per staff 8/4: Annie greeted me at the front of her kennel with a loose body, soft eyes, and a wagging tail. She dodged the leash initially but then let me leash her. She jumped right out of the kennel and pulled very strongly all the way to the eval room. She put her front legs on my lap for pets, and allowed all over handling including her ears, feet, and tail. She is very treat motivated as well. She is playful and will pounce on toys when you throw them, but does not grab them at first. However, after playing some tag I found that Annie does enjoy playing with stuffed toys. Per volunteer 8/1: Annie has a zest for life! She pulls on her leash, but it's manageable. She is just super excited about being outside. We went for a nice walk near the track and she loved sniffing and exploring. In the dog run she was affectionate, drooly, and showed off her sit and stay skills. She's so much fun. She's definitely super scared in the loud shelter and was very hesitant walking through the kennels and walking through doorways. SOOO sweet and affectionate!!! she came right to me for pets, took rubs all over. Not very treat motivated- she knows sit and explored the treats by sniffing them but didn't eat them. She might have somewhat of a prey drive as she chased every bird in the play yard. Such an affectionate little lady- we did the photoshoot and she wouldn't sit when she wasn't in my lap so we ended up taking a photo together! Got into my lap several times over our outing and was giving me kisses and taking pets all over. She chased a squeaky toy once and fetched it back but much more interested in me! sooo sweet, what a little velcro dog. Per Staff 8/18/24: BEHAVIOR EVALUATION: KNOWN HISTORY: Stray KENNEL PRESENTATION: Julie was wiggly at the front of her kennel and had soft eyes and a wagging tail. She was patient for leashing and exited easily without any issues. No issues returning to kennel either. LEASH SKILLS: Pulled minimally HANDLING: In the room Julie was friendly and well mannered. She had soft eyes and a wagging tail while out with me and would solicit attention often. She was just as content to explore the room on her own and afterwards would come back over to me again for attention. She was social in the room with multiple handlers and allowed multiple people to pet her and greeted them with relaxed body language. Gentle with treats as well!
