If you would like the first opportunity to adopt, please fill out an application to be considered.   Adoption Fee: $500 *Encyclopedia Brown is an option for Foster-to-Adopt!* The Case of the Missing Best Friend: Encyclopedia Brown is on the Case!' Meet Encyclopedia Brown, the four-legged detective who has already solved the biggest mystery of all—how to steal hearts! This 3-4 year old Australian Cattle Dog mix is as sharp as his namesake, using his keen intelligence, unwavering loyalty, and affectionate nature to crack the case of 'Who’s the Best Boy?' (Spoiler alert: it’s him!). Case Files: Why Encyclopedia Brown is the Perfect Companion An Open Book – Encyclopedia Brown is calm, patient, and as well-mannered as they come. He’s completely housebroken, doesn’t beg, and won’t bark your ear off. (However, he might let out a soft whine when he’s excited—think of it as his way of taking notes!) Master of Observation – Like any good detective, he notices everything, from passing squirrels (which he watches but doesn’t chase) to the location of unattended snacks. He walks politely on a leash, leading with confidence but never pulling, staying right by your side like a true partner. Breed Basics – As an Australian Cattle Dog, Encyclopedia Brown is naturally intelligent, loyal, and eager to work. These dogs are known for forming deep bonds with their people, and he’s no exception—he’ll be your right-hand pup, always ready to assist on life’s adventures. While he gets along well with other dogs and even cats, he’s searching for his person to be his ultimate sidekick. Foodie Detective – If there’s a mystery to be solved, chances are it involves food! Encyclopedia Brown loves his treats (maybe a little too much—his waistline could use some editing). He’ll happily investigate any available snacks, especially cat food, so keep it secured unless you want an open-and-shut case of the missing dinner. Toys & Transport – This clever pup loves carrying around his favorite stuffed toy or tennis ball—sometimes even bringing it along on walks like a treasured clue! He’s also an A+ passenger, making car rides an easy and enjoyable adventure. Red Alert? Fireworks! – Encyclopedia Brown isn’t a fan of loud noises like fireworks, but that’s just because they’re unfamiliar, not due to a tragic past. It’s a common case among dogs—one that’s easily solved with a little reassurance. Encyclopedia Brown is more than just a pet—he’s a devoted, intelligent, and loving partner who will stay by your side through every mystery life throws your way. If you’re looking for a loyal, clever, and affectionate companion, case closed—he’s your dog! Are you ready to crack the case of the missing best friend?March 15, 2025, 8:58 pm

Raised in our rescue with love and care, they’ve been surrounded by other dogs, making them wonderfully dog-social, and they’re well on their way to becoming confident, well-rounded companions. They’ve also been introduced to a variety of people and have the potential to thrive in homes with cats. Expected to weigh between 25-35 pounds when fully grown, these pups will be the perfect medium-sized addition to any family. Dinner is served around 5:00 PM, followed by a final round of evening play before bedtime at 9:00 PM—where they drift off to dream of new escapades (perhaps chasing pots of gold or frolicking with leprechauns).Bagpipe: Bagpipe is a playful pup with adorable brown markings just like his mom. Dublin: An explorer at heart, Dublin is a ball of energy wrapped in the softest fur! Pattie's striking black and white markings make her stand out, and her confident nature ensures she always keeps things lively. Corned Beef: Corned Beef is the biggest boy in the litter, and his big personality matches his size! He may be a little clumsy while figuring out those growing paws, but his goofy, lovable nature makes him all the more endearing. A cuddle champion at heart, Corned Beef loves belly rubs, gentle playtime, and being close to his people.  Emerald: Don’t let her tiny size fool you—Emerald is a force to be reckoned with! The smallest of her litter, this little gem is playful, independent, and can hold her own against her bigger siblings. When she's done showing off her spunky side, Emerald melts into the sweetest cuddle partner, happily curling up for lap snuggles. Jiggy: Jiggy is the biggest girl in her litter, and she wears her title with pride! She loves being the center of attention and isn’t shy about letting you know when it’s cuddle time. Story
Prancer was left at a distant shelter as an under-aged puppy at 6 weeks old. She was nervous so the shelter put her with Dancer Shep mix also 6 weeks old. We rescued both of them and now they are doing great at their hero puppy foster home. They will get a great start since their foster home is also a trainer. Both are playful and adorable. They will be available when they are 8 weeks old. Appears to have strong prey drive. Video from first hour at their foster home. https://www.facebook.com/FFRescue/videos/1100628651741940 Update from Foster Home 1/3/25: Prancer has a very sweet personality and she is quite cuddly. She plays with chew toys and plays pretty well with Dancer. She is herding breed type so probably no cats. Update from Foster Home 2/19/25: She is doing great! Wonderful with other dogs she could do ok with cats if someone took the time. Not aggressive with cats just wants to play with them but definitely not a prey drive type at all. She is fine with my cats does not chase them at all. She is crate trained both house and car. We are working on potty training but doing well with it.YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xUtDgAJMUHkFebruary 21, 2025, 1:41 am

Story
Sylvie is a 2-year-old Cattledog with a heart of gold and a shy but loving nature. This sweet girl may take a little time to warm up to new people, but once she bonds with you, she’s a loyal and affectionate companion. She particularly adores her foster mom and has a special place in her heart for other dogs—she loves playing with them and would thrive in a home with a confident canine sibling. Sylvie has shown herself to be a gentle and friendly pup, even with the resident cat, and she gets along well with other animals. She’s also crate-trained and is making great strides with her house training, although she will benefit from a little more time and patience in her new home. Though Sylvie is still building her confidence, she's already learned the basics like “come” and “sit,” and she’s making wonderful progress with leash walking. With continued practice and a patient, understanding owner, she will only get better at both! This intelligent and sweet Cattledog is ready for a family who can offer her the time, patience, and companionship she needs. Sylvie would do best in a home with another dog to help her feel secure and show her the ropes. If you’re looking for a quiet but playful dog to join your family, Sylvie might just be the perfect match! Please contact Diana at (510) 333-4420 or theperfectdogrescue@gmail.com or fill out the adoption application:  http://www.theperfectdog.org/TPDadoptapp.doc February 6, 2025, 3:39 pm

If you would like the first opportunity to adopt, please fill out an application to be considered.   Adoption Fee: $650 *Rocky Road is an option for Foster-to-Adopt!* Rocky Road is the perfect mix of sweet, nutty, and full of surprises—just like his namesake! This 6 year old, 16 pound Mini Aussie-Spaniel mix is packed with personality. He’s got the energy of a double scoop, the devotion of your favorite comfort treat, and just the right amount of crunch (especially when he gets excited for treats!). Whether he’s zooming around the house or melting into you for back scritches, Rocky Road is guaranteed to add a little flavor to your life. Much like a heaping bowl of his namesake, Rocky Road came with a few extra toppings when he first arrived—like a tendency to jump on tables in search of snacks! Now that he’s settled in, he’s showing his softer side. He’s a certified Velcro dog, always sticking close to his foster dad, and loves rolling against you for extra love. While he still wears a belly band indoors as he masters house training, he’s completely crate-trained and often tucks himself in for a cozy nap in his crate with the door open. Rocky Road enjoys a daily routine filled with adventure. He starts his mornings with a walk at 6:30 am, followed by breakfast, and then naps while his humans are at work. Afternoons and evenings bring more walks, lounging in the office, and hanging out with the family. On weekends, he enjoys spending all day with his people, making sure they never have a moment without a little extra sweetness in their lives. He loves toys, will happily toss them for himself, and gets a kick out of barking at other dogs during walks—he’s still learning that not every pup wants to be part of his sundae squad! The ideal home for Rocky Road? One where his people are around often and ready to take him on plenty of adventures—hiking, walking, or maybe even camping under the stars. A yard would be a great bonus for this energetic pup, and older kids would be best since he gets extra excited for treats (watch your fingers—placing them on the ground is the safest way to serve this little guy his snacks!). If you're looking for a dog with a heart full of love, a spirit full of fun, and just the right amount of crunch, Rocky Road is ready to be the sweetest addition to your home!March 15, 2025, 8:58 pm
