Story
Chip is a playful, affectionate and loves toys and cuddle time. He was born on May 6, 2024 to a large litter! Mom was 50% collie and dad was 100% Australian Cattle Dog, with DNA result to show! Despite his name Busy, he has a great off-switch and will happily curl up after a play session for some serious snuggles. He’s crate trained and does well with potty breaks—he’s rarely had an accident. He is learning how to let you know, but if you let him out regularly you will have no problems! Chip is food motivated, which makes him easy to train and a quick learner. While he can pull a bit on walks when he’s comfy, he responds well to gentle reminders. Chip has been around children (including a 12-year-old), but he does have a tendency to jump up for attention, so he’d be best in a home with older kids. He does show mild resource guarding with toys (just holding them close with his paws and mouth), but no aggression—just a little possessiveness. With a little training I am sure this can easily be resolved as he is so smart! He’s fantastic with other dogs of all sizes and personalities. He gets along with both submissive dogs and more dominant ones. He’ll hold his own if necessary but knows when to back off. Chip is a cat chaser, though—if there’s one around, he’s on the hunt! So, no cats for Chip. He’s a big lover of human attention and thrives on companionship. He’s the type of dog that will happily hang out on his back in your arms (aka "Floppy Dog"). Chip enjoys being on the couch, getting his belly rubbed, or just leaning into you for affection. Training-wise, he knows "sit" and is ready to learn more, especially with food as his motivator! He is a bit of a counter surfer, so keep an eye on him in the kitchen. Chip’s an active boy who loves toys and needs plenty of chew options (a Kong and rope toys are his faves). He’s not a fan of car rides but is improving with practice. He’s also a bit picky about how he eats—slow feeders work best, especially if they don’t have a continuous circle pattern (he’ll chase the kibble around!). If you’re looking for a sweet, affectionate, and playful companion, Chip is your guy! He’s been loved and cared for since he was a tiny puppy, and now he’s ready to find his forever home.

Story
Meet Summer!! This special girl is one true underdog. Summer is approximately 3 years old, 35lbs, and we think maybe a cattle dog mix. She is completely deaf and almost entirely blind. Sadly, she found herself at the city shelter on the euthanasia list, since she had medical needs. She can see up close, so she doesn't walk into things but things at a distance scare her. She goes out with lots of dogs and does fine, but sometimes in a crate can bark since she isn't sure what she is seeing far away. She is lovely when you are with her, accepting pets and giving kisses. She went to the eye doctor and clearly has vision issues including cataracts which may resolve but could come back. She may be completely blind in the future. The vet said it wouldn't be wrong to euthanize!!! BUT we said no way, this girl has an adopter out there. She's truly a loving dog, and enjoys affection. She would do best in an adult only home, or with older kids since little ones would be too much for her. She is fostered with lots of dogs and does well, but needs a home either as an only dog or with a dog/dogs that are older or calmer in nature. Having dogs running and jumping on her is scary for her. If interested, she is located in Houston and available for meet and greets NOTE: she tested heartworm positive but has since received treatment.
